IMO he was simply a lazy bast**d who couldn't (be bothered to) reach a decent level of fitness or if he did, was world class at hiding it during games. Some players are so good they can get away with it, Carlos wasn't. It was nothing to do with where he came from. A poor professional...... A label that he arrived with from his former club.

Agreed It's a joined-up strategy with competent leadership and management that is needed at the club.

At the end of the day, It's a judgement call / business decision. Perhaps we are prioritising the short-term given the need to start qualifying for European group stages. If you go down this road wrt age profile and make a net loss on player trading, it ups the pressure to do well in European qualifiers. IIRC the accounts mentioned the need to qualify for at least the EL group stages in 3 of the next 5 years.

Docherty would make much more sense (if the fee wasn't prohibitive). Arfield is 29, would want a big wage and wouldn't have much resale value potential. Given the difficulty of securing serious European revenue in the short-term, we could do with making something out of player trading.

For whatever reasons, it was fairly plain that Pena wasn't for applying himself or particularly interested in doing a professional job with Rangers. Facts prior to him joining were that he had been good enough to play for Mexico and that in more recent times had had issues outwith the game that might have been a factor in a sustained lack of form. The signing was a distinct gamble. Pedro Caixinha was to be the man who was to get Pena back to playing the way he had been when capped by Mexico. If he did, we'd win a watch and have an excellent midfield bargain with sell-on value....The real gamble had been Pedro Caixinha. What we got was a Pena who wasn't particularly interested or bothered in applying himself. Looking at it from a commercial POV, the redtops will almost certainly get more traffic for the destructive type story that feeds into the real yahoo dream. Generally, redtops thrive on the negative, destructive, sad, violent, related story. If they can mix it with sex and/or gangster land all the better for commerce. Add a football angle and you have the full house, eg Kenny Miller story in the DR earlier this week. Positive stories on Rangers get space but often tend to drift down the digital page relatively quickly unless they have some actual substance.

If they were honest, it'd be renamed The Rangers Monitor. What it pretends to be is a voice for Scottish football fans run by Scottish football fans and a force looking to push for positive change. What is it ? A conduit for obsessed fans (sellick 95%, Others 5%) run by celtic-minded fans as a tool to focus on all things 'bad' at Rangers. It attempts to influence others into their way of thinking*. * In 2012, the RTC blog played a major part in trying to gather support amongst Scottish football fans to pressure their clubs into voting against Rangers in votes regards league status.

I've said it a thousand times. Until we as a club adopt a joined up strategy throughout the business, have focused leadership and committed, powerful & competent execs running the club on a day to day basis...we'll more than likely continue to react to events/firefight, rather than setting agendas/better controlling narratives. Wrt media, the best 'weapon' we have is not to consume it. To demand statements after clicking on links is a little hypocritical.

This is opportunism, in that yahoos see a complicated and difficult situation for Rangers/Dave King and are looking to squeeze as much out of it as they can. The blogging angle is about pushing their own name forward, alongside their donations button. The only way to really effectivelly put this type of thing to bed is to sort out our problems.

Better to stay silent unless you have something meaningful to say and that can be backed up. As for strategy, it's a joined-up strategy that has been missing and is a lot to do with providing vacums for yahoos to fill.

Redtops in social media (now includes all press outlets in Scotland) are all about looking for clickbait and anything to do with us will often be the busiest pages on their site. Yahoos will probably bypass stories on their own club and prioritise clicking on the latest Rangers news, with many leaving a trail of predictable comments . They aren't going to stop anytime soon and our board need to be concentrating on taking the club forward, not getting into a shouting match with that lot. Especially when our statements have a tendency of adding fuel to X or Y. ------------- Our finances aren't healthy and there seems to be an impass of sorts wrt leadership and strategy that I had hoped would be sorted around the time of the AGM. This and the TOP/COS problem for Dave King provides a vacum of sorts that is being filled by the celtic-minded. This probably all needs to be sorted before the club can say anything meaningful and informative.

Don't really agree as I don't think we were/are going to play with two out and out strikers up front. Morelos got the nod, scored goals, worked hard and made the position his. Herrera has played a bit part and never really got going. IMO Murty would be better learning from the past and saying nothing of the kind.
