  1. It only mirrors some of the changes in society over the decades. Football is an incredibly popular vehicle that was always going to be squeezed and the distribution of wealth was always going to be evermore skewed.
  2. Some of the clickbait pish that is served up online by many 'newspapers' would have embarrassed the Sunday Sport headline editor. They are comics without the redeeming feature of humour.
  3. That's an extreme long shot. Mexican pundits expressed the thought that going to Rangers under Caixinha might spark his career aftera prolonged lull, no. Some may have thought returning to Mexico with Cruz Azul might get him going, no. He seems to have retired from professional football without actually telling anyone. #Payoff
  4. The money at the top end and the way of going about business is a real turn-off for me when it comes to following 'general football'. A good example of the worst of this is Neymar and his antics at PSG, who seem to bend over backwards at the players whim.
  5. Aslong as a ref. will do the same for both teams, I'd agree.
  6. He'd be better off looking after what he's got left of his knees. Comes accross as a decent bloke who did his best but really, it was always a very risky signing that not surprisingly didn't return much in the way of value for money. The signing of Docherty is the broad direction we should be headed.
  7. It's a blow but the cover available shows that our squad has much more depth than at the start of the season.
  8. For those outwith the UK.
  9. I think there will significant movement in both squads and getting recruitment right will be vital come the new season,....although more important might be the possibility of a new manager at Ibrox. They will have more financial muscle if they choose to use it but that didn't stop us having a better winter transfer window than them.
  10. Hardie surely has to be the Championship's top goalscorer since the turn of the year. Will be interesting to see if he can keep it up. Disappointing to see neither Wilson or Burt start for a struggling Dumbarton.
  11. Another positive transfer window in the summer will go a long way to making us competitive and able to achieve a better consistency of result. I have a hunch that if 'the gap' is noticeably closing that celtic will go out and spend some relatively big money in the summer. What that would actually mean we'd have to wait and see. One thing that may increase is their wage bill and the pressure to make the CL group stages although they have players to sell for decent money to make up any shortfalls.
  12. Miller, Cummings and Herrera offer differing variations of a forward option. Miller and Cummings are a given but Herrera is probably there because he can be a 'target man'. O'Hallaron would seem to be out of favour and/or rightly way behind Murphy/Candeias in the pecking order. IMHO we now play in such a way and have enough in midfield to discount Kranjcar. Harsh but I don't think he is up to it anymore.
  13. I actually listened to it on the Sunday on the podcast. The interview comes up at 24 mins in the link below https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05z7r21#play
  14. After Saturdays game, Gordon interviewed Levein via a telephone line, during which, the Hearts manager basically held his hands up and admitted that his team had been deservedly beaten. IIRC, any moans he had were reserved for his own players.
  15. Good riddence That 55 number making another appearence
  16. The report states that - he suffered cartliage damage - he has had surgery last week - (implies) the first disgnosis didn't or didn't fully grasp the extent of the injury. That it is worse than first thought (or has gotten worse since) Basically, we don't really know the detail of what is going on with his knee. ----------------- However, between several different events of recent months, the medical department isn't coming accross as being on top of their game.
  17. I think it's approaching a good time for both Aberdeen and McInnes to seek a change but they seem to have both semi-locked themselves into the status-quo. Perhaps, we've managed to double-bluff them into this path Aberdeen are one of only three sides in the top division not to take league points from celtic since Rodgers arrived (Dundee & Hamilton are the others), so the result yesterday was no surprise. With that in mind, despite all the build-up, it's not really yesterdays type of game where celtic seem to be vulnerable. The game that really matters is on March 11th, but only if we win up in Perth tomorrow.
  18. Guess how many league goals we have scored to date...........
  19. St.Johnstone on Tuesday is first up.
  20. We need to forget them and get our act together in terms of consistency of result. IF we go on a winning run that would obviously include a phsycologicaly important win on March 11th, the pressure will be felt and we'd see what happened. But it's about US and putting wins together. .
  21. That sounds a tadge ominous. Takes you back to the bad old days of an almost customary significant knee injury for new signings.
  22. IF we win our next two league games a chink of light appears.
  23. At the top end it's all about pushing and enhancing brand value. It's not only the teams, some of the main players have a machinary around them that does the same.
  24. Sounds as though the lad stepped up and some. With an eye on the future, it's good to see some excellent youngsters coming together.
