  1. Re. RangersObserver tweets Opportunity to end the Miller problem at the end of last season wasn't taken. It appeared clear that Pedro didn't really want him but succumbed to pressure to go with Miller for an extra year. That said, the problems weren't just down to Miller.
  2. A pertinent question might be......How does a prospective incoming manager view the squad in relation to demands/expectations and how much finance would be required to overhaul it to a 'satisfactory level'......The follow-up being, will that finance be available ?
  3. More than anything,............we need a manager with the authority, credibility and backing to start building a team. Until that happens we'll have a collection of individuals (some good players) winning some and losing some.
  4. Re. Focus: That is the natural progression and we aren't short of fans who'll see this as opportunistic to lay into the board because of deep-rooted positions. That said, the board are obviously deserving of being asked searching questions and more importantly coming up with answers. I think it'd be wise to pre-empt the current mgmt. problem and replace Murty. However, to simply put another assisstant in charge might have very little effect. It's an extremely challenging situation but one that the club has been heading toward because of a series of poor decisions.
  5. Much of the focus is presently on Murty but if he remains and Sunday goes badly, then it will move to the boardroom.
  6. You'd have to know exactly how the 'going mental' manifested itself but the crux is that Murty had no real authority (even less now). Nor now does he have credibility left in his current role and if manager on Sunday will have to depend on the players motivating themselves.
  7. Immediate thoughts have to be with ST sales and that on the face of this story, Murty looks like being in the dug-out for the Hearts match. The later has the potential to get ugly and further slow down renewals. The one plus is that Hearts have nothing to play for in terms of league position. I wonder if Keith Jackson will get less 'exclusives' from Ibrox now.
  8. Are you saying Clarke has peculiar gardening skills that previous Kilmarnock managers didn't have ?
  9. Bill, who is your (realistic) candidate that wouldn't be a gamble ?
  10. Might suggest something is happening that will come with an annoucement but then I might be trying too hard to see something that isn't there.
  11. You are very good at finding fault but it would be more interesting if you could put forward solutions as well.
  12. The two Scottish managers to have beaten Celtic this season (Clarke and Levein) are pragmatic and don't care if labeled boring. One of those (Clarke) can also achieve consistency of result, 6 League wins IAR (the next best is 4). Clarke also knows what it is to work at the top level and has shown this season that he can have an immediate effect in the Scottish top tier, even before he got to a transfer window and has yet to be beaten by Rodgers Celtic. Almost reminds me of someone.......
  13. I've never seen a worse 45 minutes in a big game. It was almost as if our players were on an end of season jolly and had been on a brewery tour at lunchtime.
  14. Are you going to buy them out or do you know of someone who will ? They deserve criticism and in part it's been omnishambolic at times but what would your alternative plan be ?
  15. The point I'd take form the return to form of Kris Boyd is that he has openly admitted he was considering "chucking it" at the beginning of the season because he thought himself that he was done. However, the appopintment of Steve Clarke dramatically changed his outlook, his form and his goal tally. The later because the team started to make more chances.
  16. Under better managers, Boyd didn't get on the park for most of the challenging games and the one time when we could have done with his predetory skills, he fluffed his lines at Villareal.
  17. It's football, but not as we know it !
  18. I think they've both scored 18 goals (League and Cup) if you don't include penalties. Boyd has scored 3 penalties on top of that.
  19. You put Morelos in a team that has a manager who knows what he is doing and he'll do a lot better than a 35 year old Kris Boyd.
  20. I don't see how you can do anything other than make an immediate change ahead of the 5 remaining League games, even if it's only another caretaker until the end of the season. When something is so obviously broken, you need to do something about it. Murty being in charge of the Hearts game at Ibrox on Sunday and beyond is asking for more punishment and a potential 5th place finish.
  21. He's a very good player who generally contributes a lot and works well in the system that we've had some success with. However, he's also a young guy with broken English playing in a foreign country with a team that when things don't go well, the pressure becomes intense. He's also played without a rest for a long time (no close season last summer). The problem isn't Morelos, it's a lot bigger than that and in the end it causes the whole ship to wobble.
  22. The next manager needs to be a lot more than tactically astute. I think the idea of younger Head Coaches under a DoF gets flung out of the window now. The pressure would have us go through them like golf balls. We need an experienced and respected, proven manager. The board have put themselves in a very difficult position. - How Warburton ended - Caixinha - a lot of contracts to honour but with little prospective return - Personal Finances at stake - Dependence on ST money / yesterday / timing - 'attack' on McInnes won't curry favour with potential candidates - After PLG, PC and what DK said in December, suitable 'foreign' candidates will be limited. - There aren't many suitable Scottish candidates that I can see beyond Clarke and possibly Alex Neil. - Other British managers maybe where there are more candidates who'd want the job.
  23. Whilst you make some valid points, Graeme Murty isn't free from blame wrt team performance.
  24. I don't disagree with much of what you say there. Hopefully we start seeing some movement (Murty gone from first team) by tomorrow.
  25. That Scottish Cup win in 1973 was 'my first trophy' as a young supporter, my first game attended was in early 1974 and it was 1975 when we won the League at Easter Road, I was there. I'm afraid there isn't a Jock Wallace out there these days. Nor would the old fashioned methods go down too well today. It's a shame because it's just what we could do with. Another difference is the quality of players he had at his disposal,...they'd just won a European trophy when he took over the main job. Lastly, the finances weren't really that much of an issue then, at least relative to today. Today, European football beyond the summer is a challenge, far less continental trophies and we've recently climbed through the divisions. The board haven't made good managerial appointments and two disasterous summer transfer windows have us on the backfoot whilst Celtic are in the strongest financial state that I have known. As far as being 'attractive' I'd agree but not all management candidates now in 2018 will agree....but aslong as we can find the right man that doesn't matter. What it might do is limit our choice.
