  1. Have we went 4 years back in time ?
  2. You are a UK manager contacted by Rangers this afternoon.....What is one of the things you are going to do ? - Call Mark Warburton/Davie Weir - Call Derek McInnes
  3. Wave cheerio to those players by all means but they'll wave a contract back at you.
  4. Where are your alternatives ?
  5. At some points of our history, it would have....but not now. The desperation for a winning team would have us applauding pragmatism for at least a season.
  6. To convince a 'top manager' to come to Ibrox, you would need to pay him top dollar and provide an extensive transfer budget. When celtic did it, they already had a reasonable to decent squad and the player spend went on Sinclair and Dembele. There are players at Ibrox that a good manager would be able to get more from but there are quite a few that are not up to it. Due to the capacity of their stadium they were also able to increase ST sales significantly. This season, we sold just about as many ST's as we can.
  7. I think we'd respond quite well to winning 6 league games IAR (and counting) and beating celtic.
  8. Apart from seeing no hope, can you see any candidates out there that fit the bill for you ?
  9. As I've said before, it's Clarke for me but I don't think he'd want the job.
  10. Jacko will be typing as we speak................
  11. I don't know much about Hoddle in recent years but I agree re. McLaren. Bringing in 'Mr. Hair Island' would be like adding yet another layer of hilarity for the rest of Scottish football.
  12. Whoi would 'do it' for you ?
  13. Yes, but the same goes for whatever the specific I.D. of that kind of appointment and even moreso if they have no real previous connection to the club. At a guess, I think it's heading towards an English Championship level manager who is probably out of work, eg. Steve McLaren or similar.
  14. A good example of 'the type of manager who could deal with the pressure' BUT ignoring his age/retirement for a moment,......if you told him you'd need to do it on a limited budget then I doubt that he would want the job.
  15. Rather than just concentrate on names, we need to see the board need to come together and show leadership and honesty wrt the current situation and realistic timescales. Pressure and football management at Rangers go together like ham and eggs but the scale of pressure that is immediately on top of any new Rangers manager is getting to be of a level that is way out of tune with reality. Even the type of manager who could deal with it would need a level of finance that probably isn't there at present.
  16. Talking about St.Mirren and managers. You'd need a young strong willed Alex Ferguson rather than Ross. IMO Jack Ross would crash and burn under the intense pressure and immediate expectation. If we want someone who'll turn this around immediately with limited finance, perhaps we aren't being realistic.
  17. Re. RangersObserver tweets Opportunity to end the Miller problem at the end of last season wasn't taken. It appeared clear that Pedro didn't really want him but succumbed to pressure to go with Miller for an extra year. That said, the problems weren't just down to Miller.
  18. A pertinent question might be......How does a prospective incoming manager view the squad in relation to demands/expectations and how much finance would be required to overhaul it to a 'satisfactory level'......The follow-up being, will that finance be available ?
  19. More than anything,............we need a manager with the authority, credibility and backing to start building a team. Until that happens we'll have a collection of individuals (some good players) winning some and losing some.
  20. Re. Focus: That is the natural progression and we aren't short of fans who'll see this as opportunistic to lay into the board because of deep-rooted positions. That said, the board are obviously deserving of being asked searching questions and more importantly coming up with answers. I think it'd be wise to pre-empt the current mgmt. problem and replace Murty. However, to simply put another assisstant in charge might have very little effect. It's an extremely challenging situation but one that the club has been heading toward because of a series of poor decisions.
  21. Much of the focus is presently on Murty but if he remains and Sunday goes badly, then it will move to the boardroom.
  22. You'd have to know exactly how the 'going mental' manifested itself but the crux is that Murty had no real authority (even less now). Nor now does he have credibility left in his current role and if manager on Sunday will have to depend on the players motivating themselves.
  23. Immediate thoughts have to be with ST sales and that on the face of this story, Murty looks like being in the dug-out for the Hearts match. The later has the potential to get ugly and further slow down renewals. The one plus is that Hearts have nothing to play for in terms of league position. I wonder if Keith Jackson will get less 'exclusives' from Ibrox now.
  24. Are you saying Clarke has peculiar gardening skills that previous Kilmarnock managers didn't have ?
