Generally AJ has been fairly precise with his language unless legalities have prevented him. I'd say that the quotes in that article come accross as an uncharacteristically desperate attempt at an informal holding statement. -
But IIRC you told us earlier this week...............that you once did but found it too stifling and had to leave...................... (feel free to correct details). It's funny but if I had been asked who was the one poster in The Lounge that had been in the VB,....I'd have thought about it for about 5 seconds and then went...'Of course, Bill !"

Doesn't specify but I think he just means there have been ups and downs and the board intend to do as they first stated. -
Moments, yes !

That's certainly a typical VB line (at least from some that I encountered on forums) and actually says more about them than I did.

Aye and that perhaps reflects on their members.

I'm not really defending him, it's woefully out of touch and makes you wonder just what is going on. The thing is, with ST renewals out there, they really need to be as frank as they can. It would have been better saying nothing than what has been reported in that article. Perhaps there was actually more said but the newspaper only give part of it. -

AJ isn't stupid, I'm sure he realises what the ideal course of action would be and that the potential for further ugly scenes is very real. Not to mention the small matter of results and European qualification. I think it may be that there are very few options open to them at this present moment, for several different reasons. -
Deserves it's own thread Intention remains for Murty to stay until end of season Full article https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2528616/rangers-alastair-johnston-graeme-murty/ Part of.......... ..................However, USA-based Johnston, who joined the Rangers board last June having been chairman of the club between 2009 and 2011, insists the board will take emotion out of their decision on the future of the club’s former under-20s coach. He said: “We have had the discipline of saying that we will evaluate the situation at the end of the season and the reason that we chose that is that at any given time during the period of his tenure there has been a lot of support for him and sometimes there has been not so much support. “We as a board have to take a very objective view and not be kind of swayed by the last result, whether it is positive or negative. “Certainly the weekend wasn’t a good weekend for us. I was there. “But as I said we have to be disciplined as a board and not be swayed by the emotions at any one game. “We have to look at the big picture. We owe that to the club, that’s what we are in place to do.” ------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------- The above will stoke anger rather than stifle it and the board may be made to look even more foolish by having to tear those words up 4 days after coming out with them.

They seem to represent a marginal group of the support, so no surprise !

My late mother used to tell I could get run over by a car if I don't start using the 'green man' at traffic lights.

I thought Nicholl was a smart appointment to compliment Murty and after the American trip in January, it did seem to produce an enviroment where the team was scoring goals, winning games and enjoying their football. But since the defeat to Celtic at Ibrox, the fragility of the squad and management has re-surfaced, been rag-dolled in the media and most don't seem to be of the right stuff to withstand it. We don't know what Nicholl thinks, wants or how he is now considered by others, so although he may seem an obvious stop-gap, for one reason or another, maybe he isn't.

Yes, perhaps we stumbled into an experimental 'test-run' of inexperienced Head Coach plus DoF with more active role. Whether we did or not, it hasn't worked and it's clear that the level of expectation/pressure at Rangers is far too much to handle for inexperienced coaches.
-
If he wants a managers gig (opposed to assisstant coach somewhere) he'll have to re-start in the lower tiers.
-
I think the Murty experiment suggests that the idea of a relatively unexperienced 'Head Coach' working with the first team won't work at Rangers and will only see us go through them like golf balls. I think we need a reasonably experienced and respected manager who will take and be comfortable with real authority. ------------------ I'd put Neilson in the former category. IMO he hasn't the necessary experience or respect in the game. He did ok at Hearts under Levein but getting canned in the lower half of the third tier in England doesn't cut it.
