  1. The current board don't want anyone or group, who are looking for a controlling shareholding. So, as it stands I don't think that we are in immediate danger of falling into the hands of spivs. Back in the day, it took an owner, Sir Duped, who was desperate to sell who in turn found a dodgy geezer, Whyte. Who saw the opportunity of a pre packed administration event from the get-go. That was down to our finances allied to the EBT case. However, the direction of travel isn't encouraging and some of our main shareholders aren't young men. John Bennett was correct about what is first needed. A solid, secure and viable business that doesn't spend a lot more than it makes every year. However, it is one thing saying it and quite another, to change the habit of decades.
  2. Klaxon, then mouthpiece for Sir Duped/Toxic Jack (TJ), switched sides and went in to bat for 'the good guys' over the spiv years. Other outlets, eg. 'The Scottish Sun' and BBC Scotland (mainly Chris McLaughlin) were used by TJ on behalf of Green&Co, Easdales, etc. Ashley actually possessed 'wealth off the radar' and was initially welcomed by some of the support. Another important error. All you had to do was research his M.O. in business, especially at Newcastle United. Lesson is not to blindly follow follow mainstream narratives without digging deeper. But unfortunately, we are world record holders for Gullibility. Our supporter groups take Be Divided and Be Conquered, to new levels. Any prospective spiv group currently looking at Rangers as a potential project will see a support that will be easily bent over. Just as well that our current custodians are very aware of such dangers. They may be having difficulty in running the club but you can't doubt their motives.
  3. Craig Whyte, then Charles Green & Co. That is to say the vast majority of the support weren't just fooled once, but twice, in short order. I don't have any doubts that the vast majority would willingly buy into more of similar spinning bullshit.
  4. It'd cost more than a pound coin this time. Hasn't it been said that (some) current board members aren't keen on the idea of one person coming in and taking a controlling stake? If someone did want a controlling stake, he/she would need to make a big outlay to buy up the requisite amount of shares and I think, would also need to make an offer to buy the shares of the others. Can't see a long queue of investors keen to throw their money down what is our longstanding black hole of a business model. That would leave those with emotional attachment. Some of those have already had enough. I think Dave King coined a phrase, "investor fatigue". The only way that I can see us becoming attractive to investors is if there was a European league restructuring where we increased revenue streams markedly. ... As it stands, not happening in the short to medium term.
  5. It is a moniker I gave to Jack Irvine during his time serving/advising/instructing various heid yins at Ibrox, eg. Murray, Green, Easdale, etc. Another was 'the continuity bridge of bullshit'. The 'Toxic' moniker stuck and was widely used throughout Rangers message board land. It made the mainstream on the odd occasion as well.
  6. Toxic Jack and his buddies ? Seriously, it is a good question. Not so much the name, but the type. How much of a quantum would they require to buy the shares and then invest into the club?
  7. The situation today, is very different to when David Holmes was appointed and not in a good way. If, as it seems, the St.Mirren director turned us down. It doesn't surprise me. I'd already said that it is not an attractive remit/situation, especially for someone 'local'. As well as the business 'challenge', there is a very public and unattractive toxicity that often appears. Ask John Bennett and his wife. The main issue confronting a CEO as it stands, is a lack of finance. Add unrealistic expectation levels (timescale) and a main rival (that you are always measured against) being years in front of you.
  8. It's not about being concerned as to the individual leaving. It is more about the way the club has and is being run. Can you trust this lot to appoint a new CEO ? They are so confident in their own judgement or/and want an excuse, they have offloaded the responsibility onto a 'headhunting' agency. Difficult gig with a relatively small budget to work with. Only way you attract an exceptional candidate is to pay through the nose. Accounts due out in about a month.
  9. By whom ? Was 'promoted' last summer when Bisgrove was the CEO. Looks increasingly like James was given a job (CEO) outwith his capabilities. And now we have Gilligan in charge. It is more FFS than the usual FFP. Scottish institution with the infrastructure of the local bowling club,.. But without the competence or funds in the bank account. Should have sold the rights to Netflix for a comedy series.
  10. https://www.rangersreview.co.uk/news/24639268.rangers-executive-set-quit-club-ibrox-shake-up-continues/ Dujon can also fill the vacancy left by Creag Robertson.
  11. Coming off the Lyon scudding on Thursday, last night was never going to be pretty. Job done and forget it. Next spell of games between International breaks will be interesting. We'll be visiting Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Olympiakos and Hampden for a semi final against Motherwell. Aberdeen's credentials will be fully tested against us and Celtic(X2). Celtic also have a challenging run of games.
  12. Park bench, feeding the ducks. Although, he'd probably miss the lake with the bread.
  13. Cerny Should be sat on the bench
  14. Killie 2 down with 4 minutes left.......win 2-3 !!!
  15. Dortmund won the European Cup Winners Cup in 65/66 beating West Ham in the semis and Liverpool in the Final. Defending the trophy in the following season, they got a first round bye then Rangers put them out in the second round. Dortmund didn't qualify for European football again until 82/83 season. In the UEFA cup first round, they were once again drawn to play Rangers. Once again, Rangers put them out. Their next season in Europe was 87/88. Another visit to Scotland in the first round. However this time they managed to win the tie, against Celtic.
  16. Aye, but I have seen enough in other games to feel he doesn't have a full grasp on the situation. A case in point being the structure of the team to play against a Lyon side with exceptional wingers. You talk about "time and luck". If he wants more time, at times he needs to be pragmatic and give luck a better chance of playing a part. Watching Clement in press conferences of late is becoming painful. It is curious that some of the above applies to Rodgers intransigence/Celtic CL scudded, again. But he comes at it from a position of strength, although if he repeats the structure and Atlanta thrash them, he'll suddenly become a target. Relative expectation levels. Clement doesn't have the benefit of a firm base and he needs to cut out the self inflicted damage. Depressing, but you start to think that McInnes wouldn't be the worst option at this stage in a rebuilding process. Doubt the board would be brave enough/ support would tolerate it. It is a process that I think will take 3 to 5 years. You don't suddenly happen upon a functioning player trader model and the revenue stream that this can generate.
  17. What a pair of wingers Lyon have !! From a football perspective, worth the admission money.
  18. Individual errors, missing a bonafide sitter, etc don't help but Lyon were simply a far better team. Their middle to front players made the most of the space we presented them with. That, IMO is down to the manager. How he set up the team and the players he selected. Clement has a very difficult remit. We don't want to hear excuses but it is going to a gunfight with a wooden sword. But, last night he compounded the situation through his own decisions.
  19. The main difference is that team was more than competitive, domestically.
  20. That is a very solid and competent starting XI from 17 years ago. Light years ahead of what we currently have.
  21. Dortmund were simply stronger, faster, better technically and tactically. Nothing to do with referring. Expectation levels amongst their fans was high, so this has brought them down with a heavy thud. Will be interesting to see how the players react at the Ross County. I'm sure they drew up in Inverness after a prior 7 goal CL scudding.
  22. I reckon we'll have our European game face on and perform to our better levels. The uncertainty for me is Lyon. No idea what type of performance they are up for. No prediction. Not a clue how it will go. Will be an interesting 90 minutes for several reasons. Especially to see how we do against a good level of player.
  23. If I were a club selling Rangers a player, I'd be looking for more cash up front or sell,-on clauses that weren't easy to get out of. They won't play (Michael) Ball ! Will be good to have Hagi available again. Excellent player at the Scottish level.
  24. Excellent rendition of a great tune and what a result 👏🏻 Looks like the new bunch can get up for a European match, like the last lot. Good, we badly need some positivity coming from somewhere in the club. No better place than the pitch. Lyon match will probably tell us more.
  25. Embarrassing comedic mess with no good options.
