  1. Going for the quick fix would essentially be a high-risk gamble that even if it did work (unlikely), might not have any continuity. I get the Gerrard gamble and can understand it but I don't think compounding the risk would be wise. Give the guy some breathing space (1 season) and look for him to build something that would have a better chance of continued success (football & finance). Throwing money we don't have at too many relatively old men won't end well. Getting 2 or 3 experienced campaigners in along with some players with scope for improvement/resale value is surely the way to go.
  2. Independence is obviously the main reason that the SNP exist and without it they struggle for a sincere identity/ideology. IMO they try to present a facade which isn't really them and is more designed to pick up votes from what was a floundering Scottish Labour party. In the last few years Scotland has appeared as a political wasteland that is on a par with the football, ie. we used to regularly qualify for the Finals but have now went a couple of decades of nae quality and nae results.
  3. Be careful,..........Bluedell is 'establishment'
  4. Graph or no graph, I think it fairly plain that we were over-dependent on Morelos because we didn't have or weren't prepared to use players that could offer a similar type of game at the level the Columbian can. You can argue that we could have changed the way we played to accomodate others #managerial question Herrera was more or less written off and reduced options #poor_recruitment
  5. His laptop may have a left leaning virus.
  6. Of those listed, the players who were brought in for those seasons didn't have much of an impact. At a push you could say El Hadj Diouf did help a little. Healy, Beattie and Rothen contributed zip. The others had been at the club for a while (had been bought when younger) and were established. The exception being Weir, who was a bit of a one-off. ------ A list of players who were 30 years of age or over at the time of signing for Rangers would be a better comparison.
  7. I'd agree with that and point to it being the reason why the most recent Gersnet podcast was a good listen, when an hour or so went by without it becoming tedious. It was the main reason why I thought DF stood out slightly because he was simply stating how he objectively saw things without any filters applied or pressure felt, eg. refereeing of game.
  8. Wrt what you refer to as "hounded", it rather depends on what was said in the first place, constructive criticism or something else. I'm coming from the POV that your general point of criticism was incorrect, the guests, whether it be a little or a lot, obviously do contribute. I'd simply suggest that you don't bother listening to it if you feel so strongly about it.
  9. Your criticism is open to counter......That's the way it works ! I'm not slow to make critical observations when I think they are merited but I just find that your blanket point about his guests not contributing anything, is so obviously wrong that it deserves to be questioned.
  10. Pod Demigod in 'follow follow without question' controversy --------------------- Seriously, to say his guests contribute nothing either shows you haven't listened to many H&H podcasts or your hearing is very selective.
  11. I think that is a very relevant point. I'd hope that SG and his stafff would be looking to build something but at the sametime he'll want to make an immediate impact. The main thing for me is that we know only too well that bringing in 'veterens' whose best days are in the past doesn't tend to work out the way we'd hope for (onfield), in the majority of cases........ Not to mention the business side. It's not worth going into this too deeply until we start seeing who actually arrives, rather than who is in the headlines.
  12. IMO David Frazer is the best pundit/podder in the Rangers Podcast community. There are many who talk sense but DF has more objectivity which IMO makes the conversation more worthwhile.
  13. "Silly (Close) Season" is going to more than live up to it's name this year. Newspapers know that all they have to do is mention a name and it will be clicked upon multiple thousands of times. You'd be as well as forgetting the MSM and staying with the 4ladshadadream twitter account.
  14. JD 36 in Ocotber LL 32 in January Arfield 29 Shagger 36 Somebody tell SG it's not a Retirement Home he's taking over
  15. I don't think I suggested anything about our performance and did point to a potentially game changing non-decision. #ImaginaryCherrypicking
  16. If he is indeed self-employed then he could work for anyone unless he has a clause in his current agreement with BBC Scotland that restricts him. He has been associated with and worked on various projects over a long period of time for the BBC
  17. You can't credibly make an argument by cherrypicking decisions and leaving out others that don't suit. Allan should have been off but so should Goss have been, ie. 10 v 10 for most of game. Their penalty was a penalty, end of. For me, the one glaring decision (lack of) that could have changed the outcome was the Whittaker handball where we should have been awarded a penalty. Then we'd have had to convert the penalty.
  18. It keeps the circus going round.
  19. That was connected to what I was saying. The Celtic board/DD tend to sack managers when the crowd numbers are flagging. With Mowbrary, it was results as well. With Delia, it was more general apathy.
  20. The Key for starting to push their numbers down is to stop 10IAR.
  21. Centre-half is probably the one position where some real experience and leadership is needed. Leadership is also required in the centre of the midfield but preferrably not a 33 year old.
  22. The more tangible aspect is another area where they have potential access to more revenue. McCann wasn't stupid when he built the stadium with a larger capacity than ours but the associated challenge thereafter was to persuade that many people to buy ST's. The Rodgers factor sees them all right on that for now but their support is fickle and that will probably drop in years to come. As mentioned in another thread, the Mowbrary season saw a 20% reduction in Celtic home attendences.
  23. Alves will be going to Russia, factoid !
  24. They obviously rate him if they want to sign him but when it comes to dosh, it's usually the business heid that takes over unless the Mexican Martin Bain is involved.
