Agree strongly. If you try and take short-cuts by buying players that have most of their career behind them, don't be surprised if the mileage clocked up takes it's toll, sometimes predictably, eg. Kranjcar, Dorrans. Then if you compound that by buying youth prospects that are apparently prone to injury, eg. Rossiter and spend relative big money on players from another continent with documented off-field problems,....we know what happens. Moral of the story is to change transfer strategy.

I don't see Hearts without Lafferty winning the game and a point would be enough for Hibs if they could beat us and the sheep get turned over in Glasgow again. We are going to miss McCrorie badly on Sunday and no Morelos (Windass, Dorrans ??) means little in the way of attacking options.

Agreed ! We need some late developers but the problem there is you often get rid early doors. We had Lewis Morgan but apparantly considered him too small. They had Andy Robertson (Lawwell must be spewing). Whilst impossible to be perfect or possess a crystal ball, we need a football dept. who are better at their job, eg. see the talent in the likes of Morgan and recognise affordable talent when it is playing against you for Queens Park.

I'd settle for one to be getting on with. When you see Billy Gilmour leave so early for relative peanuts, it's a real kick in the gonads and it shows that this isn't only about bringing the players through.

The financial will be impossible to match in the short to medium future but football fortunes often do swing and it's not all about money. The 'House of Cards' reference sounds good but is itself, built on sand. They have a playing squad that can realise large sums of money to put in place of CL money and the EL group stages are now worth a lot more than previously. As far as this century has gone, we have only had one spell of sustained dominance when Walter Smith came back and we lifted 3IAR. That included 3 CL group stages (if you count the season before the 3IAR) and a run to the UEFA Cup Final (which Martin Bain managed to gather 'surprisingly' little money). The 3IAR was based on some quality recruitment post-Kaunas, partly funded by the money from the net proceeds of the Cueller sale. Prior to that we had managed to squeeze a couple of titles away from Celtic on memorable last day wins but the rest of the time they tended to run away with the title, despite us having some excellent quality players at Ibrox. I think it fair to say that they were a better run club with a corporate and partly colliegiate board whilst we had Sir Duped and Bain (SDM left the board in August 2009 but Bain remained). It is noteworthy that Dave King mentioned independent businessmen as a potential good fit for the boardroom. What we have to do is to continue building our club from the bottom up. The football operation should be able to reach a point where it pays for itself.

It could be argued that given current circumstances, a gamble is required if we want to stop 10IAR. The issue for me is timescale. IMO a realistic gamble is a potentially galvanising management team who bring a culture of excellence and look to build something, targetting 19/20 and/or 20/21 for recapturing the League title. The pragmatic appointment seemed to become less attractive and less 'safe' due to the potential list being short and uninspiring.

Yes but I'd want a 'target man' striker to be getting goals as well. Corners, free-kicks, crosses into the box should be meat and drink for players like that. No semi-decent striker of that sort only makes goals.

He definately needs a break, you can't continually keep punishing the body without a break. If managed well, I think the lad could be a real top player by the time he reaches his mid-twenties.

We sometimes complain about Morelos and his dry spells but if you take a look at the latest Sheep striker Sam Cosgrove (6 months younger than Morelos) his numbers don't look too bright.
