  1. Open doors don't equate with investigations into what is and has been going on.
  2. Within a business plan, you can understand the need to overinvest in the football operation for several years and justify it if there are those who will commit that money. Pretty much what happened from 2015, As you say it's about finding the right balance because the 'overinvestment' can only go on for a limited amount of time. With that in mind, it should be partly aimed at the development side and then on the first team squad. Unfortunately, the year we played 'our joker' and committed to a figure close or at 8 figures is when we made a horlicks of it, both majority of players and management team. (That said, if we were to get say 6M or so for Morelos those mistakes would be mitigated). No more 'institutional failure'................This is why Mark Allen is getting more of a say and we can only hope he does well. If we spend relatively big this summer, we need to get it right.
  3. The Specials got to Number One the week I joined the Marines but I don't think I'm your real Dad.
  4. The tax bill came from a wreckless approach (volume) to using EBTs and the ensuing risk that came with that. Hence, we (under Sir Duped) were committing to more than we should and 'Gaffer' rightly IMO calls it a 'mistake of the past'.
  5. Reminds me a bit of Jordan Rossiter without the bonus of a relatively low fee. Rated / Potential / not played much due to illness. IMO the apparent lack of interest from other clubs down south at such a relatively low fee for them waves an amber flag.
  6. The priority is providing the best set-up for the youths coming through. If Murty fits in with that then fine, if not......
  7. I think the message has already arrived,....... it's about how they react and what happens in and around the two SPFL charges.
  8. If we believed all the speculation, we'd be putting together a squad that in training could have a game between the....... Youthful Loan Scousers v Veteren XI.
  9. Great keeper but often full of mince. The thought of Gerrard in a Rangers midfield might be comforting but you may aswell think about waking up beside Kelly Brookes.
  10. I reckon the sheep will take a dip next season after 4 relatively decent campaigns. I think it'll be Hibs who end up as the best of the rest, ie. 3rd.
  11. Both goals were top class in different ways,...I'll stop there as footage will paint a better picture............ ps. It was Glen Middleton who put over the cross for Gilmour.
  12. That's what I thought the French would do last week but............. A few days before the game France were an extremely short 1/6 to beat us but closer to KO that came in to 2/7 as the bookies realised they'd got their numbers wrong. England are 4/6 to win tomorrow (in 90 minutes),....would seem to be quite a decent price that will probably shorten. --------------------- In fact if you look at the same tournament last year there are some similarities - Burke scores two goals in the group stage - we beat the group favourites 1-0 in the second game (2017: Brazil) - we win final group game 2-1 - we play England in semi-final Last year England beat us 0-3 in semi-final. .
  13. He made an effort to burn bridges and it's now a matter of positioning himself wrt to pay-off talks.
  14. It was pretty well documentated that Pena had had his issues prior to his signing and I heard a Mexican pundit say going to Scotland was a chance to get his career back on track. Alocoholism wasn't specified but 'issues' over a relatively long period usually involve one of the 'constant negatives'.
  15. Liam in goals Declan at Left Back Paddy in central defence Sean in the midfield Murphy on the wing Equal Opportunities Employer on steriods
  16. Looks like it's going to be blue then !
  17. What size chest is that ? 34 Double D Cup ?
  18. A handful would be too many IMO, a couple would do. I'd simply not even consider signing 38 year olds. For every Davie Weir you'll get 3 Philip Senderos.
  19. The profile and ensuing attention is good but some of the lines coming out are now baseless / premature. Gerrard has yet to take charge of his first game as a manager.
  20. Whlist on the Kit thread, can I ask you why you have a cockroach as your profile pic,...it bugs me !
  21. Guardiola puts together sides that function well on a consistent basis and therefore they tend to win leagues. With Barcelona he also won CL's because he conincided with some fantastic players in their pomp. Zidane largely inherited a group of excellent players that as a side have been fairly inconsistent (not great for winning leagues) but on their day can beat anyone (good for CL's). Zidane reminds me a little of Del Bosque in that he tended to let the players get on with it. for the latter, Hierro and Raul dominated the dressing room politics and had seen off various managers but Vicente knew how to play the clubs politics and basically didn't get in the way too often.
