I don't know if you understand the Spanish commentary fluently when watching a game in a bar but IMO you are overstating things with the BBC Scotland/Rangers reference. Spanish commentary is very one-sided when Spain are playing in summer finals, no big deal. Spanish TV coverage has always been big on picking up the incidentals/off the ball reactions etc. Essentially, Ronaldo was 'Portugal' and attention was always going to be on him. His indignant reaction to the referee was worth highlighting (aswell as a yellow card that wasn't shown)

For some strange reason my only memory from the Costa Rica game was a simple pass to Dave McPherson that he allowed to go under his foot and out for a throw. -------------- Portugal and Spain served up a real football match last night with some real quality on show. - Ronaldo looks sharper than at any stage of the Europeans that Portugal won - Spain looked decent at times and Costa led the line well. They also looked very vulnerable to the counter-attack and they'll have to adapt or suffer for that. - No real damage done for either, both teams are going through --------------

Giggs was good to watch as a footballer but listening to him is murder ! -
Salah was on the bench and they nearly squeezed out a gaoalless draw. I'd forgot Hector Cuper was the Egyptian boss, I'd have went for a 0-1 had I realised. Only saw last 10 of first half and last 5 of the second and I won't be near a TV for the next match. Keeping fresh for Portugal v Spain tonight.

Perhaps given current circumstances and because they have the same bottomline motivation, they simply agree on the current way forward. -

Saturday past, Boyd was sat beside Miller at Radio Scotland, helping him settle into the role. -
Don't agree. The Academy lads haven't made it yet and sometimes need reminded.

The way he was talking on the radio on Saturday indicated that once the affair had been put to bed, a media splash on his side of the story that he believes his character to have been defamed'. -

If Miller gets the Livingston gig (player/manager) would we want to do business with him or could it help make 'the fuss' die down. -

SPL fixtures 2018/19; Aberdeen v Rangers first game

First OF match at the Brendanbeu is scheduled for September 1st but likely to be moved to the Sunday. The midweek prior to the game sees the Final qualifying round second legs in both CL and EL....If and it's a big IF, we were to reach that stage, then we'd probably be playing on the Thursday. -

No time to settle into the Scottish game for SG. Visits to Aberdeen and Celtic within first four games. Three of first four away from home. -

The proof is in the pudding and we'll see how much Dembele eventually goes for. The CL shop window is important to them and is part of a strategy that is getting to be ever more reliant on CL qualification.....but as you infer, just how good a shop window is getting slaughtered several times ? Tierney is given Messiah status in Scotland but is also part of a defence that gets serially hammered against better players. When they did a little better in Europe results wise, they sold-on some players that went on to well in England but under Rodgers that hasn't yet happened.

That would suggest a deliberate pattern wrt contract management that offers an opportunity (relatively short window) for those we deem who might have sufficient to deliver and provide an eventual return. I'm not sure what one year will do for Burt. He wasn't able to nail down a starting place for Dumbarton last season. -

Interesting ! You can understand the club being reluctant to letting him go for nothing and instead seeing how he develops but at the sametime, you can't imagine that being in our first team and one year only nudges 'the can' down the road. I'd try to send him on loan for 6 months to a top tier side and if he does well, offer an extension prior to December. -
As we go through the tournament,........we can take a look at some of the fans. Russian and Saudi Arabia fans.

If they were to fail to qualify for the CL and lose their shop window for flogging players. they'd have to think twice about the level of wages they are paying. At the moment they have assets they can cash-in on but once they are gone, better for us.

Can't really say much as I didn't see it but 5 goals in a WC match aren't to be dismissed lightly. The least it will give them is confidence, momentum, GD boost and a decent chance of making the next round.
