My take would be that Gerrard needs a season and three transfer windows before we can start upping expectation levels.....aslong as this season sees a significant improvement in terms of League consistency, clear 2nd place and being generally competitive in matches against Celtic. It's also probably realistic to say that won't be enough for the majority.

Players need gametime and whilst there was a lot of coaching, we haven't played many friendlies to give it a chance for things to be tried out and then further tweaked. Looking forward to watching the game tomorrow.

You can't run before you walk, no matter how much you think you should. We have to build the football operation and Gerrard has to build a team. Unreasonable levels of expectation in the short-term are what will ensure we never get past first base.

When so much build-up goes into the SG era it creates a pressure and expectation that was hardly likely to be satisfied in the short-term. A 2-0 home win in Europe isn't to be sniffed at. The last-time we scored as many as two goals in a European match at Ibrox was more than a decade ago against Werder Bremen. .

Only time will tell with the above but IMO it'll be a minor miracle to get to the EL group stages at this very early stage of the SG era. I think this season is all about the League, generally producing better levels of consistency, being able to compete in the games against Celtic and improvement in final League position. Upstairs, finance and revenue streams are somewhat up in the air and we need some 'consistency', certainty and improvement there aswell.

The penalty was very much borderline yes or no. The ref spent a while looking at the screen, made to return to the pitch only to doubleback for another look at another replay. I think on balance he got that right, the hand of Persic moves towards the ball to cut out a cross. The free-kick is dubious but they are often given. My initial thought was that Pogba was offside at the free-kick and interferes with play by changing the bodyposition of Mandzuckic ie. VAR missed one and got the other (IMO)

We need a goalscoring forward and the 'delay' points to it being a loan. I can't imagine much more money being spent without some coming in the other direction. We also need creativity, again I think if we want a degree of quality then it'll have to be a loan. Is the lad from Liverpool already at Ibrox the player brought in to fill this position ? Early days We'll have a better idea where we are when the windows shuts and we've played our first four league games.

Very much so ! We haven't funds to bring in quality all over the park and thus need to improve a lot of what we all ready have both individually and collectively. The probability is that some will improve and others fall by the wayside. IMO Windass is one who will be in the later category and we'll end up with players who are able to show more consistenty towards the collective effort and that actually gets results.

Give Gerrard a chance to give Windass a chance to be more effective. If JW doesn't show signs of taking it, he'll not be in the team for long. The big change going into this season is the management/coaching team, it's this that has to make a difference wrt improving players if we want significant improvement in consistency of performance and results.

Me and my mate ( we must have been about 12) used to sit on the wall by the then bus-stop whilst the rest of the bus would be in the bar to the right of the railway station. The pub to the left of the station (30 yards away) was used by Celtic fans. When we arrived back, it'd be straight up Morrison street to the chippy !....happy days

Best not to focus on one player. It's not rocket science, the team as a whole gets the win, loss or draw and the manager, who picks that team is responsible.
