  1. If we don't think he's worth 450-550K then we were wasting our time because we are never getting him for less.
  2. Paper talk of a second 300K bid going in for Lafferty. If true, it would be a waste of time, we'll get the same response. If Gerrard wants him in, we'd be better to make an offer that at least has a chance, around 450-550K.
  3. August plus the game on Sept2 is shaping up to be akin to a 'straight in at the deep end' start for the new management team and the new players. The number of European matches (1, 3 or 5) will determine how deep.
  4. Some good points Gaffer.....An encouraging start and as a manager, Gerrard is a no-nonsense type of guy who has assumed authority quickly and easily. This meaning that the management to player communication should be one that works well. As was said a while back, we'll be able to make a better more informed judgement after the first 4 league games. August will hopefully be very busy in terms of games. We're going to need to bring in more players.
  5. Surprised that Morelos starts. Not much in the way of back-up for Thursday if he gets injured. Good to see Arfield with a strip on again.

  9. You'd probably have to add a fair whack to pay off at least part of the Lee Wallace contract.
  10. That hot sun in BBQ land is definitely having an effect !!!
  11. Gonzo likes to watch burdz, not touch them #LBGTLoyal Getting back on track with the thread, ......Croatian 'Honey Shot' that could be from Osijek.
  12. Buying from the English market (Burnley),...4.2M rings a bell and was mostly for potential. If we could get him for below 500K, I think it likely we'd get value for money. Going for another loan has it's risks. For balance, I think we've got enough players on loan unless we find a player that we think can make a difference, has real quality and is the type to come up and actually provide it on the pitch.
  13. I'd say Andy Webster but did he actually ever play
  14. Looking isn't the problem, it's finding those who are within our budget that is more difficult. Value for money in the English market is rare so that leaves Scotland or overseas. Lafferty is a known commodity that for the right price would improve the squad. He 'll score some goals, won't be consistent, can bother any defence in Scotland (ie. Celtic), can show flashes of real class, another free-kick expert.
  15. It's a 'cake and eat it' statement. They want to show their paying punters (to the PLC) some 'teeth' in the long known tit for tat measure (took them less than an hour to state their intentions when we first announced our decision) but at the sametime, they want to be seen as the reasonable 'let's talk and sort this out' type of guys. The latter part has them tied up in knots and they break recent custom and call us by our name because you can't hope to be seen as reasonable when you are being schoolyard petty at the sametime. So this rebounds on them as many of their paying punters will be upset. From their POV, they'd have been better not bothering.
  16. I wanted to snog Lulu when I was 13 but ma maw didnae even try to get it arranged. Kids these days are spoilt, I tell ye !
  17. I doubt a deal for Lafferty will be done anytime soon unless KL himself pushes for it within Hearts. They'll want closer to 1M and probably won't go lower than 500/600K.

  19. Tom was right if he said that they went out on the away goals rule.
