The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
buster. replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
To be useful for the Aberdeen game (Sunday), I think you'd need to get them in by end of play, today. -
It's lot to do about professional advice and decisions that are made based on that. We appear to be picking up their legal tab and that I think, reflects what has happened as a whole.
-
There is no new deal as yet. Thread title is misleading.
-
This is a complicated matter where the reported 'bottomline' tends to be more about spin than detail, much of which is restricted from the public. A football fan may understand football but it's more difficult to get a hold on this business and it would seem as even our lawyers struggle. I think the more salient question is why did our board / lawyers think they could sever ties in the way intended, given the detail of the agreement that had been signed.

Hummel won a watch being directly associated with Rangers as SG was being appointed but theyll be keeping an anxious eye on what results and when from current negotiations between the club and SDI.
-
The club is indrectly looking to apply lipstick to a pig,.... but the pig is still Mike Ashely, he's better advised than we are and like the Pedro Caixinha fall-out, we'll be affected by it for the forseeable. You have to wonder about our executive management, our finances and the ongoing sustainabilty. I think we really need European group stage football this season.
-
We do reaction, not strategy.
-
For accurate numbers to go on, we'll probably have to wait until they appear in our accounts, which is a long way off.

I think it fair to say he wants a couple players (probably a CH and a CF) sharpish and it's understandable. -

This was what he actually said '24 hours' is used by paper earlier in article and seems to have been their take on the enboldened text below. .............Gerrard wants new players on board this week. Asked after the Latics clash about reinforcements before Aberdeen he said: “I would love that. I hope it is tomorrow. I am in a rush. “The Kean deal is finished. We have loads of targets we have been monitoring. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get an agreement with Kean. He wants to keep his options open and we respect that. You can see quite clearly today that we need a centre-back so that is definitely an area that we are trying to add in. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.”.................... https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steven-gerrard-rush-recruit-rangers-13001140 -
They'll have sent Stewart Robertson out to buy some lipstick for the 'pig' and he's got lost.

BigTam: I'll reserve comment about the statement, until we see one that concerns todays news rather than 2017

I thought he was sending a message to the board as to negotiating tactics, eg. Lafferty. -
I'd have to know what they were before I could answer that and certainly wouldn't sign off on anything about it until you informed as to what you actually mean.

I'd have agreed with that had the progress been at least continuous and not signing contracts that you quickly get tripped up by in an expensive and embarrassing fashion. The first six months of 2017 was pretty much awful executive management. MW, PC plus transfer budget, DoF after mgmt appt., the SDI contract 'oversight'.
-
I think a new deal is still to be agreed and every week that goes by will mean less shirts sold.
-
This was about matching parts of a deal and we simply don't know what the outcome will be. We don't know how JDS will react to this wrt their costs towards a prospective deal with Rangers. We do know that we'll have significant legal costs to pay re. this case.
-
On the face of it, sounds like we have really f**ked this up, are now just desperate to get the shirts on sale and to do so are forced back into a deal with SDI. Executive management at Ibrox has been awful at times. At the sametime we were hiring Pedro and spending on his transfer targets,.... we were signing this agreement with SDI that has come back to bite.

Mibbes aye, mibbes naw ! We have a heavy schedule coming up and I think the management will want players in now opposed to brinksmanship up until the end of transfer window. Up front we currently have only Morelos. Sadiq, the manager said will take a couple more weeks to get up to speed. I would be looking to get another forward in before the deadline for EL 3rd round qualifiers (touch wood). -

Comes down to how much the management team want him. We at least pretty much know what he would bring and he knows what Rangers are about. They are demanding more money............ -

Wouldn't expect you to reveal source but obviously you know and are confident in your info. -

Last season, Lafferty started 36 games (League and Cup) and scored 19 goals. ie. he scores goals at this level, didn't have any significant injuries and you know what you are getting. Those goals include 3 in the league against Celtic (one in a significant 4-0 win), which was more than we as a team scored against them in 5 matches. I think that merits 500K if the manager wants the player. There is an argument regards age, lack of sell-on value and if we could source a younger 'better player' for a price we could afford then fair enough. -

The probability of that would depend on who gave you the info.
