Just watched the last half hour of Chikhura Sachkhere v Maribor, finished 0-0. CS not as poor as I thought they might be and Maribor not as good. Tie not over if the Georgians can travel ok. The Georgians should have won it but lacked quality middle to front. Maribor, big physical and organised but not a lot more in the away leg a long way from hame. One of the Maribor players got his second booking in the tournament.

For a split second I thought we were going 3-2-4-1 Should be a good test for the defensive set-up and an interesting 90 minutes to get a look at the new players. Wouldn't expect a great deal in the way of cohesion with so many new players in but I'm hoping for individuals to show a little quality. Whether this effects us retaining possession, we'll see but if we can't keep a hold of the ball for times we'll get swamped.

Those long summer nights are great but Quality (strong sunlight) over Quantity (daylight/occasional sunshine) The bigger downside is that the Scottish winter sees very long nights on top of a lack of sunshine. It's asking a lot for so many new players to come in and play a collectivelly cohesive game. But after last week in Macedonia, SG had to do something different and I think he's right. The only issue for me is that we go into this tie with only Rudden as back-up to Morelos. If the Columbian starts the way he has been playing I'd hook him at HT for the youngster. The most important aspect tonight is that we are solid middle to back and everyone knows what they have to do. Anything we get at the other end is a bonus.

The worst thing about Scottish weather for me was the light, or lack of it. I'm not a fan of very hot weather and live on the coast where temperatures don't get up so high and are usually accompanied by a breeze,...... but what the consistent sunshine does afford is a great quality of light.

With SG saying that Sadiq is 2 weeks away from competitive football again the onus is heavily placed on Morelos for both legs of this tie. Given where his game/attitude has been now for months, far from ideal. Several new players coming into the side tonight might give us some fresh impetus, it certainly makes for an even more interesting game to watch. Will be interesting to see SG's approach and how the players get on with it.
