Essentially, the Political system has been 'hijacked' and is no longer fit for purpose of serving the interests of the majority.

Few people (all around the world) get what they think they are voting for. Brexit is a little different in that not even the Leave Campaign really knew what the the bottomline of what they were campaigning for and quickly made an exit after the referendum. A lot of todays Politics (together with an important % of the mainstream media) is like a firewall of noise, law and regulation (lack of) to further and protect powerful interests.

Let's not be naive. The EU were never going to make it easy and give any country a gold-plated withdrawal, thus encouraging a queue to form. We are not being punished by Brussels, we are facing the natural and predictable consequences of a Leave vote.

If there was more awareness of what drives politics and where it's going, just perhaps, the majority of people would get angry enough to do something about it.
