  1. Sterling injured again. Just as well that we have a player who has been almost constantly available for nearly 10 years.
  2. Happy with the starting XI. Might have had Balogun in for Propper.
  3. You could say that of professional footballers in general. However, they (including Dessers) are human and will be affected if the criticism is sustained and especially if perceived as unreasonable. IMO Dessers has generally done his best and has done so in the face of a lot of very vocal criticism. He has scored more goals than Egil Ostenstad, Jeffers, Beattie and Sebo put together. If asked to play a role that doesn't match his game then better to direct a good chunk of the criticism elsewhere. A lot of the negative vibes around the club have their root in our financial situation.
  4. The squad situation and a very busy schedule means that Tav and Dessers will play a significant part in the coming weeks. Back to the grind today after a European away trip. Don't expect wonderful football. Europe is more important than the domestic. At least it is this season because the league title was never realistic and despite all the noise, I am sure that we'll finish second. European wins bring significant prize money in and personally, are much more satisfying because of prestige and the unknown (how far we can go in competition).
  5. There is no easy route out of this and to address the underlying issues will take time. Our 'hurry', based on unrealistic short term expectations will only trip us up wrt addressing the underlying issues. Lets see what Patrick Stewart has to say about a way forward in a couple of weeks. Someone tell him not to give out 4 year contracts to managers. I'm not at all optimistic short to medium term. As it stands, our biggest hope is that Celtic hit a cyclical trough.
  6. Instead of a bulldozer, we have a plastic hammer and a pet groundhog.
  7. We are still tripping over the rubble and the dust doesn't allow us to see a way out.
  8. Was PLG not given the bike and told to get on it?
  9. In a 'normal' set of circumstances surrounding the club, Clement would be on the brink. He might be anyway, but given what the board said about patience, circumstances and a look at the accounts. I think we need to try and ride out the storm. I think we'll finish second with or without Clement. So far, we've done ok in Europe and I think we'll do better in the League Cup Final than the scudding that most are talking about. A new manager may bring a bounce but he won't be able to bring in much quality players and we'll still be behind Celtic. To address the challenge of becoming real rivals to Celtic again for more than an occasional season, it is about laying sustainable foundations.
  10. Nice put us out, despite Shearer and Caldow. Following season our second European opponents were also French. This time, we won the tie against St.Etienne.

    Who stays?

Aye, and a quality centre forward, a commanding central defender, a powerful enforcer/leader and....... Lets continue doing what has got us into this state.

It isn't rocket science. We need to prioritise making the club sustainable rather than short-term firefighting, where we only succeed in burning other people's money, as another manager and squad go through 'the process'.
  13. Independentish, with good attention to detail,... but will he have the political nous, timing and cojones ? What will his remit be ? Austerity and keeping to it until the ship has righted ?? Will the strategic vision (no laughing at the back) now differ to what John Bennett talked about? If so, how do we finance it ? Time will tell

Yes, I have told you. If you choose not to, or simply can't see it. Then it would help explain your lack of awareness. I've been talking about this type of thing for years and I can assure you that I buy nobody's party line. Right or wrong, I call it, as I see it. What I have been saying for years is coming to a head of sorts. Now we have new executive management coming in. Questions for them will be about finance/strategy.

As a club, our priority is to get on an even financial keel. Keep digging the financial hole deeper and the threat may become existential. We don't have a right to success. We are skint and can't suddenly make up the ground just because we are Rangers. We have repeatedly fucked up badly and will have to suffer some more. On the pitch, there will be ups and downs. Get used to it.

Just one more fix, then everything will be fine. A defender, a midfielder and a forward who are not going to cost anything will have us beating Celtic and challenging for the title. Everything will be fine again. Just one more fix, please. Got a quid for a cup of coffee, mister?

What did John Bennett try and make very clear ? Austerity & Patience. What is it we are all talking about on here ? Change manager and a good chunk of the playing squad, AGAIN. What aren't we talking about ? Where the Money is coming from. The fanbase appear to have forgotten about austerity and patience. They are addicted to and are pushing for another short term fix. Thus ensuring the continued and what would be, deepening financial hole. In 2012, we all talked about priorities. We have forgotten about that as well.

    Who stays?

Cammy, yes it is like that. Fan impatience and in recent years, unrealistic expectation levels, have contributed to bad decision making at board level. That isn't to give the board a free pass, far from it. They should have had the savvy and courage to do the necessary wrt real austerity and sorting our finances out. ----------------- Reminds me of kids chucking their toys out the pram and demanding new ones when their single parent is holding down 3 jobs, just to put food on the table. Then the kid tells the single parent that it is all their fault for buying new toys instead of putting food in the table.

  20. I don't know what will happen with the manager but I'd imagine it'll mostly be about trying to get to a firmer financial footing. Increase revenue Reduce costs Player trading We've talked about all this on numerous occasions but we have never got to the promised land. Mostly down to poor executive management and the lack of balls to keep to a strategy during short term panic.
  21. There appears to be new executive management incoming. They will have a remit that won't be about, "sinking into oblivion". Lets see what they do. We'll need to show some patience or 1 title in 14 years will start to look like the good old days.
  22. Pay off the manager Get a better manager in Get better quality executive management in Get better quality players in Get rid of the dead wood Do it now, beat Celtic now challenge for the title now Then do it all again in a year
  23. First thing should be bringing in a competent and hardy CEO.
  24. From a basket case of a political party to a binfire of a football club.
  25. Good to see us reeling in the points gap to Aberdeen.
