European Group stage football wasn't going to be cheap. What you are looking at, are games that provide quality opposition and a European level of anticipation and atmosphere. A level of football that we haven't seen at Ibrox for 7 years.

As a kid in the mid 70's, I paid 50p for the supporters bus return trip, Edinburgh to Glasgow.

Thank's again lads !................Couldn't have been easy doing this on Sunday night. StevieC If you cite Coulibally as the main reason for being able to play more effectivelly in a certain formation, then surely it follows that if he doesn't play, the formation won't be as effective. If you look at all the European away games, we've never been much of an attacking threat. What we have been is first and foremost, a solid defensive shape and haven't looked to compromise it by 'over-attacking'..... because generally, we haven't needed to and in some cases haven't been able to. What for me has been the most impressive aspect over the European qualifiers, is a management of the tie at hand and doing what was required to get to the next stage. What we didn't encounter during the qualification process was to go behind in any game. What happened on Sunday was we were playing a better team than in the European qualifiers and we couldn't hold out, we went behind and it showed up what we are still lacking. That said, SG has been clear about building from the back. He's done a good job of that with a tangible and unexpected reward. We move on.........

Extending that and using conservative estimates...........would give us in the region of 14M Euros gross 2.92M.......... Starting fees 1.2M............... Fixed amounts (performance bonus for wins/draws/progression in tournament) 1M............... Coefficient ranking (I make it 14 teams below us in 10 year co-eff table/ 14 x 71K) 1M............... Market pool (TV Money / don't know split amounts so complete guesstimate) 780K........... Solidarity payments (Qualifier pyts) 3M..............4 x Home Qualifiers (varying price structure / revenue) 4M..............3 x Home group games

Given the almost identical nature of incident (including level of force used), the Steven Naismith precedent from a few weeks ago (Hearts v Celtic) should mean there is no case to consider for the CO.

Did they mention how many times Scottish clubs have come through EL qualifying stages and got to the group stage since the EL format took over from the UEFA Cup ? This is the 10th year of the EL format and we are the first and only Scottish club to get through EL qualifiers and make the groups* (* Celtic have ended up in EL groups several times but always after getting KO'd from CL)

We'll make a very decent profit and personally, if there was serious interest in him come January, I'd take the money and re-invest it in someone else. You can't trust him and it'll be a continuous rollercoaster ride with him.

The only way we compete with them and beat them is if we get in their faces, play a high press and play very well. Yesterday we played European Away tactics (happy with a 0-0). It allowed them to dictate the play and they are a better team than any we've came up against in the 4 summer qualifiers. We did so, probably because of a lack of the necessary collective energy to be able to employ an effective high press. Several things..... 1. They focused and raised the quality of their game (especially retention of possession) from the inconsistent Colin Nish they had previously been playing. This will nearly always happen for OF matches and we have to be ready for it. The less 'noise' we make prior to these games the better. 2. Villareal game on the 20th will be a long night unless we can vastly improve on retention of possession. 3. Despite all the signings, we are currently light on options. All that said, we need to forget about them and concentrate on improving ourselves. We have an excellent management team in place and the base of a good squad. This season will see teething problems and humps in the road but we are going in the right direction. -

Put that under (bad) 'experience for all concerned' and move on. They focused and returned to form and we didn't have the legs or energy to press them effectively. -

A goal is coming if the same story develops in the second half. We need to retain some possession and get up the pitch. -

Very difficult, no quality balls coming his way. We aren't able to get to a place in the pitch with the ball under control that gives a better chance of a quality ball. -

They are dominating that much, Candeias wouldn't have made a difference IMO. -

They are playing well and we are not at the races. Only positive is that we are still level and broon is booked. We need a boot up the erchie but energy levels won't be full. -

We'll see. Tend to think Tav needs someone who'll have the discipline to cover for him and IIRC Kent can play either flank. -

I'd imagine Lafferty will play left, Kent right. Lafferty may have instructions to get in the box, interchange with Morelos when the wee amn comes deep. Surprised at Candeias not starting. Kent has good game discipline but perhaps not the same level of understanding with Tav. Words are cheap and repetitive,..........it's now down to the players to get out there, believe and carry out the game plan with controlled agression. 'Get intae them'........... -

Red card in match ? Interesting to see the view of those expert in weighing up probability,........bet365 will only give you odds of 7/4 on a red card. Contrast that to the same company offering 5/1 for a red card in Chelsea v Bournmouth.
