  1. They do in every league in the world. You have to look closer to home at the things you can better control. SG said the more he emphasized discipline and keeping 11 on the park, the more likely it became someone would get sent off. I look at Morelos and see a player who will be stupidly sent off again this season, probably more than once.
  2. I see Broadfoot was indeed absent yesterday but tbf there was no discussion on match officials decisions and the test will be if he isn't invited when they are a big part of the show. The M.O. of Kenny McIntryre tends to be to pack as much controversy into the programme as possible and if he thinks Broadfoot will take on Stewart or similar, I think, aslong as he has a lot to do with final decisions, Darryl gets a call, but we'll see. As you said last week, another revealing indicator will be if PQ send a 'team' to Austria to follow what is as far as they are concerned, the only establishment club in town worth covering.
  3. Yes and the "...don't care" part appears to be becoming more obvious. It tends to suggest that they feel protected, at least within their own regional part of the BBC. I said last week that the only way a 'protest' may have some success would be via a 3rd party. ps. back in the 80's I occasionally had a beer with Martin Geisler and his buddies.
  4. If anythng, PQ seems to have decided to dig their heels in and get somewhat militant.
  5. If we are free to dream up whatever scenario suits we'll be here for a long time
  6. Cheating comes in many different guises and is part of most professional sports. Draconan punishments because some get so stressed about it is a disproportionate and unworkable folly.
  7. What about it being part of a post game panel retrospective remit. Stick: One game ban
  8. A tadge draconian Yellow card and put footage on a professional and slick twitter feed to embarass them.
  9. Kilmarnock have had 9 European campaigns and only in one have they been put out at the first hurdle. In the late 60's they reached the semi-finals of the Fairs Cup (Europa League equivalent). ---------------------- Let's not shoot ourselves in the foot. We need to stop singing those songs and add-ons.
  10. I see what you are getting at but bottomline, points are the whole story. We need to start winning away games (and maintain our home form when better teams come calling). With the European matches, it won't be easy and a lot will depend on keeping enough good players fit. But have to say, I'm looking forward to the challenge.
  11. We are only a point ahead of Celtic so best not get too carried away.
  12. I'd say that the fact it was the only game they could motivate themselves for says something about what is wrong over there.
  13. Defence, attack, dugout, boardroom.................they are currently floundering. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. We should really have more than a one point advantage. I'd say that as far as the league is concerned, it's theirs to lose and at the moment that is what they are doing. The key is how long it takes them to get back in gear. Currently, we need to make hay.
  14. I thought Lafferty's finish yesterday showed the composure you want to see in your strikers when faced with only the goalkeeper. Good to have him aboard.
  15. As always, the League is about consistency of result over 38 games and as far as we are concerned, we've yet to reach a that place. Last season we were weak at home and this season we have 9 points from 9 at Ibrox BUT we've not won an away game (3 played). Not looking that far ahead, we have to go to Livingston and return with 3 points, non-negotiable. All teams in the league have played 3 away games and a league table for that has us in 9th place. But we are still ahead of Celtic We are top of 'Home game table'.
  16. Good professional job, never looked in doubt. We've got to start winning away matches. Stat attack Old Firm have played 6 away matches in the League this season: 0 wins
  17. Sportsound podcast is up for today. 33 minute wake that covers the Celtic defeat (90% of it from a Celtic viewpoint) and NO MENTION of our result that took us to second place.
  18. Steven Thompson not wanting to watch anymore football than he covers whilst working made me think think of 98% of the BBC Scotland Pundit and Presenter Pack who want to wax lyrical with criticism and cynism on offcials/panels without actually knowing the rules. Apparently, being an ex-footballer and knowing the game trumps the rulebook when it comes to decisions. The one person (Darryl Broadfoot) who attempts to bring in to play the CURRENT rulebook gets shouted down and the relevant facts that he mentions get quickly forgotten in the consistent need to bring Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor into the conversation.
  19. We won't really know his current level until he gets more of games. Excellent or exceptional young players tend to be ready at 18, most of our youngsters haven't been because they haven't been exceptional. Middleton has earned a start, whether that be against St.Johnstone or Ayr Utd.
  20. Agree with Frankie, SG has had to juggle with limited options thus far but whatever 14 are used they tend to get it together for at least part of the 90 minutes to secure a result (we could really do with improving our first half performances given the pattern thus far). I think the 'limited options' will continue to be the case as there is little prospect of getting everyone fit with the schedule we have. What we have to hope is that the injuries don't get too bad. Dificult to name a team when there are so many doubts wrt availability. The one thing I'd like to see is Glen Middleton get a start and make it more difficult for St.Johnstone to settle.
  21. If you've got a player who can break lines and get in behind (note that yesterday Middleton did this with a pass) you have to nuture, encourage and develop that kind of talent. However, in the modern game this type of player won't always start. As you point out, against 'lesser opposition' when defensive shape/tactical discipline isn't just as important, are the games this type of player will start. We happen to have two wide players who offer the contrasting options. Kent, the more disciplined and coached player who can play an important part of a backs to the wall effort and Middleton, the more traditional direct winger.
  22. Sportsound podcast lasted nearly 52 minutes Celtic and their match took up nearly 44 minutes of that with us beng shoe horned into what was left. I get that interviews with the manager and a couple of players will mean the time allocation that Celtic are given will be greater than ours but even taking that into account, the disparity can't even nearly be justified.
  23. What a result Well done to the players and staff. Didn't manage to see much of it, which is a shame but that's an excellent point and 190K euros banked.
  24. Bench looks short of decent options, too many players who won't be match-fit.
  25. Tonight will give an indication if that game has changed the way SG approaches this kind of challenge. There should be more physical and mental energy to take on whatever way we go about things.....but again our midfield options are curtailed, noteably the absence of Jack and Ejaria (on top of the longer term injuries).
