He had genuinely 'Big players', more money to work with and a marketplace that hadn't gone tonto.

I occasionally wonder about the effect of SG's mega star status in the game and if all of our players are happy to live and work in his shadow. When he says Big clubs need Big players who step-up and deliver in Big moments, he does so as someone who was the very meaning of those words. But he indirectly addresses a squad that has nothing like that in it. IMO to say so quickly that they'll be shipped out and replaced if they don't deliver was a mistake.

I take it no 'journalist' at the presser had the couarge or professional integrity to ask him why he held his face and talked about his jaw when the coin hit his chest !

The controversies covered by the Scottish football hacks each season could be part of a Bingo card. - Ticket allocations (various) - Sellick fans UEFA charge Part XXXVII but they are the bestest in the whole world - Poppy (November) - Lennon at it but he is depressed - Diving (various) - Compliance Officer / consistency - Lennon at it again but he is the victim - Hampden atmosphere (or lack of) - National team are shite - What is the plan for the future of our game - Lennon is innocent, honest guv. etc
-
This shouldn't even be a debate. There is conclusive TV footage that simply shows what happened. His goading led to a coin being thrown. Two seperate offences. One of the purposes of this debate is an attempt to prevent the public discussion addressing the distinct possibility of exaggeration/simulation by Lennon.

IIRC that's his second trophy in Mexico. Not a dud or a fraud as some have called him out for but was never going to be a good fit for us or the Scottish football environment.

Since September of last year, Lee Wallace has played about 30 seconds of first team football (Motherwell, 95th minute sub). There is or was an 'ongoing situation' and he is 4th in the LB pecking order and the probability is he won't be playing for us again. -
We could do with someone publicly asking the question...... Why did you grab your face and talk about your jaw when the coin hit your chest ?

This is a non-negotiable 3 points. St.Mirren are all over the place and alongside Dundee are in a race to the bottom. They had won their first league game against Dundee before they visited Ibrox and started a run of 11 fixtures, with only one draw to show for it. Ironically that was against Celtic in Oran Kearney's first game in charge. Caution The anomaly in those results is that 2 of the three clubs with the highest goals totals in the league (Hibs, 21 and Celtic, 22) are the two teams that the St.Mirren defence has had relative success against at Home, with a combined one goal conceded in 180 minutes. We are the other team of the three, 23. --------------------- Another unpredictable guess the starting line-up game suggests at one of our problems that we need to sort out during November as we head into a difficult and heavy glut of games in December. - You'd imagine McGregor will be back in goals - Halliday deserves a starting place at LB* or the midfield - I'd bring Katic back in for Worrall* - Drop Coulibally - Shake it up final third * unlikely but not impossible we go 3-5-2 -
The Celtic player who makes the difference is Rogic. He's the type of player we could do with as an attacking midfielder.
-
Bet there isn't many out there who thought they'd be crying out for Halliday to be first name on the teamsheet come November 2018 He deserves his place.

It's just the HT entertainment. It's all ok though because they guy who came out to take a swing was just fed-up of having to take constant verbal stick for the first 45 minutes. I'm sure the judge will understand his argument.

That's Donald Trump level of blatant in your face bullshit ! A journalist who doesn't tear that apart is a joke. Who has asked him directly why he held his face after the coin hit his chest ? Look for Tom English quotes on players cheating and ask him what he thinks of Lennon antics.
-
It's fairly simple,......... No goading = No coin thrown The authorities have to charge Lennon, AGAIN.

I said back in 2015 that the new PR should be Patience and Realism. A day after the release of annual accounts that reflect what happens when you metaphorically chuck toys oot the pram and want new ones every year. Regardless if it's partly because the Toys were made in Taiwan. After the institutional failure of 2017, I thought DK/the board made an excellent appointment in SG and his staff, I still do. It should be obvious that he'll need time to build something worthwhile. If fans want to even contemplate a push for change after a few poor results than essentially, they are pushing the club into a much more difficult place.
-
Going forward, it seems as if we don't qualify for European groups stages or find a player(s) to sell for considerable fee(s) then the year will see a heavy loss. Given the difficulty in European summer qualifers, that doesn't look sustainable to me.

Can you imagine the Sportsound programme following say Morelos taunting opposition fans then being hit by a coin in the chest but going down holding his face and later complaining about a throbbing jaw. He'd get absolutely hammered with a short mention for the coin thrower. What will happen tonight ?.....I'd imagine the scripts will already be ready.

It comes down to players and we haven't any "big players" as per the SG interview (big games/big moments/big players step-up). I think we have several who could become 'big players' (eg. Morelos, Kent, Middleton, etc.) but no-one is quite there yet. I don't know if Jack isn't quite a 100% but I'd tend to keep playing him and push him to become a more forceful player and help dictate tempo. Perhaps it's time to start Middleton / play both Lafferty and Morelos up top (v St.Mirren) Not sure what the story is with Grezda but if we don't see him this weekend, you start to wonder. Next International break, drill the defence in playing three at the back and hopefully with Barisic back, start to use it more often.
-
As per Frankie, you don't throw the toys out of the pram and we allow SG&Co several transfer windows to sort this out and build something. The other thread on the go (Financials) shows that to continue going down the annual route of 'All Change' (players and manager) isn't a viable option, never mind that it is myopic and reactionary.
-
From a football perspective, I don't think we are in a position where we can simply bring in several quality players come January in an effort to solve on-field problems. SG has to manage the players he has and if he wants to bring real (relative) quality in, we might have to sell someone who would bring a transfer fee in. Of course, loan deals are still an option and whilst not ideal to fill the team out with too many, we might not have much choice.

At this rate he'll be suspended for a game in late November/early December......but aslong as he keeps scoring goals, I'm not that bothered. edit Up to 5 bookings because red at Aberdeen was downgraded to yellow.

To a degree, it'll be those awful transfer windows (summer '16 & '17) coming home to bite. Given these numbers are up until the end of June, we'll still have some pain to take from those windows.

Managers need a level of professionalism' FT: Hearts 0-0 Hibernian Gary Caldwell Partick Thistle manager on Sportsound "I think he brings a lot of it on himself. Whoever throws something from a stand should be ejected immediately but Neil Lennon was goading the fans as that goal got disallowed. As managers, coaches, players, we have to have a level of professionalism to not incite that and I think at times he does." Article Reactions
