  1. If this appeal is successful remember the line that most pundits have used.......'the important thing is that the right decision is made or eventually reached'. Me thinks that won't be the first thing that springs to most of their minds (if appeal successful).
  2. Well said, the more noise made like this, the more pressure it puts on CFC.
  3. I'd imagine that Collum has a record of making an arse of decisions against pretty much all teams in the Scottish top flight.
  4. Wrt mediumterm plans, DK has on occasion spoke of how he sees it in terms of the business but given the the way it has been used by the media, I don't think it a good idea for him to give them anything.
  5. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. The majority of the Fitbaw hacks simply don't really want to give him any credit and when some is forced out of them after an observation from another, it usualy comes in the form of ....'yes, he's got some talent but.......'. A lot of our support aren't too disimilar although it's not for the same motive and I'd include myself. If he keeps working at his game and improving, I think he can get to a really high level. Working at his game includes controlling his petulant side. In recent games there have been signs that he is making a real effort to do so. Ronney of 2019, ..........no thanks !
  6. Slow news day. A story about an interview that didn't take place but shove the magic buzz words into it and get a reaction, clicks, twitter traffic and attention.
  7. Off the Ball (evening edition) A small detail for the record........ podcast https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0000zpg 23mins 45secs Despite the call of 'No whataboutery or jusitification allowed', Cosgrove, in a roundabout and indirect way, puts forward a justification for a coin to be thrown at Morelos when sliding in to celebrate. At some point during the programme he also made a point to cast doubt if the coin had actually hit Morelos. ---------------- Sportsound on Monday Surprise, surprise....... the Morelos rescinded red at Aberdeen featured once again
  8. To that degree, yes.
  9. Anti-status is a sought over commodity and the grounds for it have a tendency to be questionable at best.
  10. To a degree but really we are still very much a football club. What I mean by that is that we very much depend on our football results to develop financially. IMO we need to win the title and get into the CL group stages to turn things around. IMO. a serious 'brand' in football is basically those at the very top end of European football who can generate relatively huge amounts of money via deals with large corporations. Those brands are strong enough, that they might soon not even have to depend on performance to get into elite competition. AC Milan have done diddily squat for years yet they appear to be a potential founder member of a rumoured breakaway league for the powerful and their guests.
  11. Unless a favourable restructuring of the game and it's revenues take place, the OF will both probably become further diluted in terms of European football relevance/revenue. What I think Lawwell has been angling for these past few years, is to lobby for a place as near to the top table as possible for his club when any changes were to take place in the European competition structure. He'll be laughed at when it comes to top table and who knows how the rest would be structured in such a change. On the face of it, I don't think Celtic are currently anywhere near to being in a precarious position. They failed re. CL but have EL money + Dembele sale + seem to have lowered the wage bill + have squad depth to win league/sell if they need to.... The other thing is aslong as they keep winning title, they have two stabs at European group stages. IMO to start turning things around, we really need to beat the odds and win the title by 20/21 then qualify for CL group stages. Then build on that...........
  12. I don't think we are expecting much from anyone other than Docherty and a couple of the Academy players. I'd be happy enough if out of them all, Docherty proved to be the real deal and one academy player developed into a first team player.
  13. He was injured at the end of last season. He next appeared at the end of September for 12 minutes as a sub and hasn't featured since. Do you know if this latest injury is new or a complication from the previous ?
  14. I think we are at a point where we simply have to succeed, ie. the SG&Co era has to be successful, ie. stop 10IAR and professionalise our football operation to the point where it can generate money instead of sucking it in. On the plus side, I think they will if given time. Next three years European group stage football won't happen every year. We could sell players but they'd be our better players at a time when onfield we need to match and surpass a team with a wage budget much higher than our own. We have directors/investors who have been and have said they still prepared to fund any losses. Pending Share issue Mgmt team performance My very cursory, undetailed and laymans view is that huge efforts/sacrifices are going to be made in the next three years but if they don't suceed, we could be in a very bad place. Whilst I think SG&Co can turn our fortunes around, our main rivals are in a financial state that gives them a decided edge and hence the financial plans have to contemplate that.
  15. Looks like they are busy. When the numbers first came out, I said that to continue in the same vein wasn't sustainable unless the football operation, both first team and other performed at a high level. Since that point we've seen most of our support with a 'No problems here' view that echo the chairman's words and the predictable 'Armageddon' view from the other side of Glasgow. What happens if we don't qualify for European group stages or win the league in the next three seasons and the SG era comes to a premature end ?
  16. @Gaffer....... the WHOLE shooting match seems to be a race to the bottom in any direction you, me or whoever points toward.
  17. Can't remember the exact figures but it was about double. Now that you say it, iay have been a tad more.
  18. Double match-day revenue sounds inaccurate but the number to ponder on from the accounts is that they pay nearly double the wages we do and that makes it very difficult for us to win over a 38 game campaign.
  19. As it says in the title................ Imagine scoring your first professional goal in the biggest club fixture in your homeland. Now imagine doing it aged 14. For Fernando Ovelar, that unlikely dream became a reality on a Sunday. Ovelar, who is two months short of his 15th birthday, scored the opening goal for Paraguayan top-flight team Cerro Porteno in their Superclasico against arch-rivals Olimpia. It came a week after he made his senior debut.
  20. It's good to recall good times. A longtime ago, I was based on the outskirts of Arbroath for a couple of years. Quite enjoyed it up there. Once played for a Marines team at Gayfield (got beat). Whisper it, but used to go along to some of the Dundee Utd European nights.
  21. Better food in Arbroath though........
  22. I was wondering if they were going to claim that the coins thrown by St.Mirren fans had been collected and used to buy fish suppers for some needy old folks in downtown Paisley.
  23. Just for the record, a tweet from Blue Room Art To see full tweet you'll need to click on it so as to enlarge.
  24. A home draw against Liverpool is progress but it ain't spectacular. Had they won, then it would have been more noteworthy. It does help give them belief and a base to further build upon. What Arsenal might be able to compete for again is CL qualification which is where they always got to under Wenger bar the last couple of years. There isn't much doubt that the Arsenal board allowed Wenger a year or two too many and that tardiness has cost them somewhat.
  25. A lot of people don't prioritise football colours over other more fundamental issues wrt their own/family wellbeing or quallity of life. However, it is pathetic that a politican is using football colours as a vehicle to troll/campaign/whatever and tends to suggest at the level of todays politican. Two wrongs don't make a right.
