Match Day Programme Cover

A wee PS on this game. Since Thursday, quite a few Spanish mates of mine have raised the subject of Rangers in Europe again. Moreso than when we played Villareal, funnily enough. Sometimes you think unless it's Barcelona, Real Madrid or very local, it might as well be against a Polish team as far as they care. I guess it's the impact of a 4-3 scoreline but for me it's a real sign that neutrals in far off lands are taking note of our presence once again.

Numbers are ok, considering. He has played in 67% of Falkirks League campaign and scored 57% of their goals. 1 goal every 198 minutes isn't brilliant but Falkirk have been poor and we don't really know how Rudden has been playing. Falkirk as a team have scored a goal every 167 minutes. Scott Dobbie has scored 1 every 90 minutes. Zak is only 18..... (just over 3 years younger than Ryan Hardie) He needs to really kick-on and improve in these next 18 months and he may have a chance to breakthrough with us. ---------------------- Greg Docherty and Shrewsbury have an FA Cup tie today against 'high-flyin' non leaguers, Salford.

Good day for Zak Rudden and "pandemonium in the stands"

The standard of the top 6 team is generally higher that it has been for quite a while and more points are dropped because of it. That is true for most teams, including Celtic. We also have a European campaign which literally takes league points from you. Big factor regards points totals in December is how injuries and suspensions affect us. It's far from unrealistic to think we might be without any decent centre-forward options for some of the games. As Big Jaws points out, December is 9 league games and hence how many from 27. 16...(or 19 from 30/including tomorrow)

At the end of 16/17 (Pedros arrival), I think Miller was both trouble and an asset. Jackson, at the Record was virtually campaigning for a Miller contract extension and there were people from within Auchenhowie were telling Jackson that Pedro didn't have a clue and wouldn't last long (fair to speculate that KM might have had a conversation or several with Jackson). In the end, PC got rid of a fair few but Miller got his contract extension. Further down the line, prior to the Hamilton away game you could see the anger within PC wrt to player(s) who he obviously thought had undermined him, ie. the relationship between PC and KM wasn't great. You can take anyone of several views on this but given Miller and Murty had issues then it backs-up the allegation that KM wasn't for respecting the manager. I'd say it was pretty much an omnishambles.

JW said the game he referred to was a 1-1 draw away to Kilmarnock under Pedro. There was a 0-0 away to Killie right at the start of Pedro's stint and a 1-1 home draw to Kilmarnock in Pedro's final game in charge. JW talks of a series of draws leading into the game and it being away from home, that suggests it was Pedro's third game in charge Sun 12/03/17 PRE Celtic 1 - 1 Rangers View events More info Sat 18/03/17 PRE Rangers 4 - 0 Hamilton Acade… View events More info Sat 01/04/17 PRE Rangers 1 - 1 Motherwell View events More info Wed 05/04/17 PRE Kilmarnock 0 - 0 Rangers You'd have to ask, what was the dressing room dynamic so early into Pedro's reign and was this one of the reasons why Pedro was so reluctant to give Miller an extension ? ----------------------- I'm sure the Windass interview will be well worth a watch.

I noticed that Lawrenson on the BBC got 9 correct from the 10 last week. One of those days the bookies took a hammering, or at least on the EPL. Good luck with any wager !

He's knackered ! -
A thin squad needs these breaks. The next block of matches is really going to test the squad in various ways. - physical, 11 games in 36 days - mentality, turning up for a lot of big games, then keeping the level against the likes of Hamilton Villareal on a Thursday and Hearts(A) on the Sunday Hibs on the Wednesday and Celtic on the Saturday - squad depth etc Sat 24/11/18 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Livingston More info Thu 29/11/18 UEL Rangers 21 : 00 Villarreal More info Sun 02/12/18 PRE Hearts 13 : 00 Rangers More info Wed 05/12/18 PRE Rangers 20 : 45 Aberdeen More info Sun 09/12/18 PRE Dundee 14 : 30 Rangers More info Thu 13/12/18 UEL Rapid Wien 18 : 55 Rangers More info Sun 16/12/18 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Hamilton Acade… More info Wed 19/12/18 PRE Hibernian 20 : 45 Rangers More info Sun 23/12/18 PRE St. Johnstone 13 : 15 Rangers More info Wed 26/12/18 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Hibernian More info Sat 29/12/18 PRE Rangers 13 : 30 Celtic

Good move by SG to make a pointed effort to pretty much take back the 'warning' previously given to the players. Looks like Eros starts on Sunday. He reminds me a bit of a greyhound, not a spare ounce on him. Let's hope it means sharpness on the field, we could do with him making a real impact. -

We failed to win any game against anyone semi-decent. Poor 3 weeks needs a win to finish it off. -------------------------------------- If we are fully up for this game, we'll win it. It's about tempo rather than battling with a Motherwell side who will be in our faces if we let them.

Not necessarily. They might lose more goals to better quality but no reason not to defend well. Having two midfielders in front of you who are on the top of their game makes life a dam sight easier and if they get injured/lose form then there is an impact. We bossed the game at Aberdeen because the mgmt. team reacted well to adversity (early red card) and our midfield stood up to the plate, late goals happen ! Given how our midfield have been playing recently, we wouldn't be able to repeat it. We lost three to Motherwell because our defence weren't comfortable playing three at the back and we weren't at the races in the second half. Late goal had been coming. Plus side that day was that offensive spell in the first half, dynamite but we went into HT thinking game was won. Both games came on the back of European matches.

Groin injury Must have been that boot in the haw maws yesterday -
I get the feeling our central defenders need some training ground drilling before they'll be at all comfortable playing the system. I look at McAuley and wonder if he could be an experienced head within the three. I don't know if he's played the system much in his career or indeed, how he's shaping up in training. Tav and Barisic were born to play the 3-5-2 and I still think a Lafferty/Morelos would create havoc with decent supply.
