Middleton on the field yet our corners are floated over by Tav providing easy goalkeeping practice. -
A wise plan of inaction if you have an unobjective, pre-submit moderation service on hand. It's a rare Mrs that will appreciate a good looking girl that can do justice to a big frock, never mind four of them.

Reminds me of a longtime ago and a trip to Dublin with motley crew and a kilt on for the then Five Nations rugby International, never did make the match (ended up a low scoring draw) Rugby was incidental, a winner takes all European tie for Rangers would be much more difficult to miss.

Perhaps better to ignore Spiers, his input hasn't been missed in recent months.

I think SG&Co need three transfer windows before they should be expected to have a team that can consistently win and that's 3 windows with decent backing (therein is another issue). Ideally we'd lessen our dependency on loan deals, eg. replace Coulibaly with Docherty and start to see one or two more coming through from the academy. The main problem I see is impatience, that drives an unreasonable and almost impossible expectation timescale. After that you have to factor in viability and risk management. -

Lafferty hasn't been able to get up a head of steam. I'd give him the three games this week and at the sametime show Alfredo that his place isn't automatic. What Lafferty needs though is that the team play in such a way that gets the ball and supporting players up to him and gives him the opportunity to assist/score goals. We could do with Dundee showing some ambition to score goals rather than sitting-in and playing on the break. If they sit-in and are organised, then it won't be a surprise for anyone, least of all our management team and they need to have something different up their sleeves ready to break dundee down. Options are limited and part of that would be a determined attitude throughout the team and accompanying fast tempo. -
We can talk about yesteryear, the titles and the players but we shouldn't confuse that with todays cold reality. When SG talked about 'Big Players' steping-up in the 'big moments' in 'big games'........it was true and sounded good but the problem is that we don't currently have 'Big Players'. He later (rightly) retracted somewhat on the criticisms he had made towards the players because it was a dangerous road to go down. Likewise, the 'Captain Debate' hasn't got much room for current manoeuvre. We need to trust SG&Co and let them carry out their plans over a reasonable length of time, instead of everything coming up for question after every negative result. IMO, Tav has been the best Rangers player over the last several years, is likely to start most games and has often been the creative drive for the team.

I don't think Dundee are currently playing like a bottom placed team and don't know enough about how they are likely to set-up to strongly advocate X or Y system. If Dundee copy how Livingston and Aberdeen sat in against us then SG&Co have to find a way to create chances. In the four domestic defeats this season we haven't scored a goal and almost worse, have never looked like scoring. The training pics showed serious faces listening to SG but what is more important is that come the Kick-off tomorrow, that they play to the top of their game and carry out the instructions. The recurring middle to front issue points toward a rather obvious empty hole within the squad make-up but the management need to find a short-term solution that lends to the creation of chances. -

If Barisic is available to start then we could bring out the 3-5-2. McGregor McAuley Goldsen Worral Tav McCrorie Candeias Jack Barisic Lafferty Middleton -
We have a global financial system that encourages individuals and entities to circumnavigate trivialities like the law, regulation or fiscal responsibilities..........(they are for the ordinary folk like us football fans). The whole thing seems to be rigged to deter individuals and entities from playing by the book. No one was ever going to be brought to book for what happened to us.

Clarke is getting a tune out of Stewart but that doesn't necessarily mean the player has the mentality to play for a big club and if you look over his career, I'd wager that he wouldn't be a success at Ibrox. At the sametime, I reckon Jones may just have enough of a gallus streak that may allow him to perform at a higher level. If the price/contract situation was right I'd be tempted to recruit Jones for next season (Kent due to go back to Liverpool). -

Wrt Lafferrty, we can't keep punting players after a few months because they haven't set the heather on fire, it's not viable. Lafferty has probably 2 league starts coming up. SG and his staff need to come up with a way of playing that brings Lafferty into the game. If he does well at Dundee I'd start him in vienna and drop Alfredo, he needs to be taught a lesson. -
gersnet article (image) Alfredo Morelos: no quarter given, no quarter asked
buster. replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
An excellent article that counters the low quality and one-sided Colin Nish coming from most MSM sources. However, we can't ignore the very real issues that Alfredo Morelos does bring with him and are highlighted because of our dependency on him. Perhaps the real issue for the team on the pitch is that when for whatever reason we struggle, we need to find other ways to create and score goals. Middle to front has been a recurring problem and tends to rear it's head every 4 or 5 games. From the first International break this season, Morelos seemed to have made a concious effort to not react and get carded so readily but the second yellow at Ibrox the other night coming the day after a team meeting (did Candeias interpret ?), shows that 'the problem' very much remains. Bottomline, Alfredo is a very good player but not good enough (yet) or responsible enough to carry our hopes on his young shoulders. It's over to SG and his staff to look for solutions / other options regards middle to front creativity. -
In a one-off game we can beat them but this team isn't yet at a level to win the league. Too many unresolved issues that will need time and further transfer windows to address.

Onus is on SG and staff to come up with something (players/system) that will replace the goal threat of the missing Arfield and Morelos. I agree with Pete that something has to change wrt the attacking midfielder so we can move the ball up the pitch with quality and create. I'd imagine Barisic will start but it might take more than a game for him to start to reach a decent level. A resurgent Dundee at home will probably be a tricky fixture and it's got banana-skin written all over it. One of several worrying things about the Aberdeen defeat on Wednesday was that SG said that the players simply didn't (or weren't able to) carry out instructions. This had better change on Sunday or things will start to go sour, quickly. -

Houston, Shiels and Kelly also started Glen Middleton was missing from the Scotland team and bench for todays under 19s game against San Marino. I expected him to be rested but it's a surprise not to see him on the bench. He was subbed off late in Thursdays game, just hope he's ok. Sounds like a way of getting the colt teams into the main league pyramid. It's certainly questionable if there is an appetite for this amongst all of the Lowland & Highland teams, some are ambitious, others happy where they are and not so keen to clock up the miles.

Croatia v Spain: 45 minutes of great football entertainment
buster. replied to buster.'s topic in General Football Chat
England v Croatia this afternoon.................... Winner of match wins group (draw puts Spain through) Should be a cracker but you have to wonder if Croatia will be able to summon up the physical and mental strength for another match like that of Thursday ? England firm favourites with the bookies.
