Neither We are significantly detached from being in a position to win league titles and have been (bar 55) for over a decade. The reason that there is such a reactin to the weekend's result is that four games in and it already looks as if 23/24 has got away from us. We all know the importance of finance in football and we are well behind there aswell. So, when do we as a support wake up and show the necessary patience that this situation requires. The board are trying to improve our finances in a difficult environment. I am not ruling out changing a first team manager but when scarce resoures have been invested in the squad, we need to get real and show some patience instead of pretending the situation is the same as in the past.

Our current (and historical) requirements/ expectations* aren't realistic and they don't look likely to change in the foreseeable. * beating Celtic/ winning league title Do our expectations change or do we routinely go through the same process ?
-
Not ideal but I think you have to give him time to properly incorporate the summer signings and find his best starting combinations. Pre-season laid bare that we were undercooked and what has happened was always on the cards. Obviously the period of time given will be reduced if the tendency of performance and results don't improve. After financial front loading of squad development, we are staring at a potential widening gulf re. Españolification and as expectations get more unrealistic, fewer clued up managers will even want the job.

We are undercooked and the manager doesn't know what his best starting XI is as yet. Poor preperation and planning in my book. Add that to the more understandable fact that it will take time for so many new players to settle and gel. However we should have had enough to take 3 points against Kilmarnock. Beale made a positive difference last season wrt to consistently winning league games but he arrived when we were aleady snookered. Starting this campaign with a defeat to a provincial team is a hugely negative own goal and one that feels like the script to Groundhog day (season). When the going gets challenging, Beale himself is unconvincing and I don't think he has the necessary qualities to be a Rangers manager. I appreciate that it is a very difficult gig at this juncture in our history but Gerrard as manager, Beale as a coach was the right mix in my book. Beale in charge won't work. -

I'm sure they will allow you some time to recover.! #red_raw Shit gets real this evening. Will be an interesting watch. Can't reasonably expect dynamic fluidity middle to front yet but we should have enough relative quality to create openings. Obviously, the defence need to do better than we have seen thus far -

It seems that we are financially front loading a squad revamp for the manager and his coaching team. Expectations from those upstairs who made those decisions is that we can win the league, have a decent European campaign and the coaching team are still in place going into next season or are poached (at a price) by another club. We have overhauled the attcking side but friendlies finished, we still have little idea of how things will shape up and neither it would seem, does the manager. We are not in a great place to start the real stuff as the experimentaion will have to continue. Domestically, had Celtic kept their coaching team and squad intact, I wouldn't give us much of a chance regards the title. However, they have changed manager and thus far, have sold one of their main attacking threats, bringing in potential. So basically, it becomes more difficult to predict and will largely depend on both teams recruitment, at the moment, especially us. All things considered, I expect second place but still have some hope for the title, given the above. I expect that we will win one of the domestic cup competitions. If the season goe Pete Tong and Beale is moved on, we will be in an ever more challenging financial place. Europeanwise, I expect a very decent Genk side to put us out of the CL but would look forward to being more competitive in the EL. Losing out on the play off round would cost us major finance but would give us a free midweek prior to the first OF game, which is huge.

As a moderator perhaps you should be setting a better example. No need for the abuse, Craig. Besides you have jumped to conclusións that have no firm base to them. 1. I didn't express an opinión. Un 2. I didn't try to "belittle" you. I simply made a very gentle light hearted comment that had a real base to it (tabloids tend to exaggerate). 3. "The real world of football clubs" expression was simply referring to the real market place for footballers where numbers are much more relevant. In the case of Glen Kamara, at no time did any bids of eight figures ever came about. At the end of the day, a player is worth what clubs are prepared to pay is the phrase that you may be more familiar with. -

You should get a job as a tabloid headline maker. Eight figures in your estimation perhaps but not in the real world of football clubs. -
We have had the tanks parked on their lawn for over three years with little return. Initially, we went in with size 14's (a full panzer división) and surprisingly seemed surprised when very few clubs were interested in backing our stance. Los tres amigos remain in the executive (perhaps McKenzie has left but it would have been of his own choice). We have become accustomed to articles or 'news' that speculate on positive tendencies and outcomes. They are too often pish and wind that come to nothing or indeed, very negative outcomes, eg. Ashley/SDI. What we have to do regards to getting in their faces is simple. Beat them in the first OF match at Ibrox. Neither side are going to drop many points to the rest.

They will have had the option to do so and it's not surprising in that the lad is worth more than 5M in todays market. -
Not good for us. As well as being an excellent manager, he knows what he is coming into to and we won't get the potential benefit of a newbie struggling to find his feet.

Since 2015, despite the scant success on the pitch, the support have been amazing in their continued loyalty. Hugely important aspect for the club and finance. Edit. It is exceptional support. A comparison. The league titles that John Greig (congrats on CBE) played in during the 70's had Ibrox often not even half full.

How much influence does our DoF actually have on recruitment?
buster. replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Difficult to implement and run a settled, functional footballing infrastructure when you are consistently second in a two horse race. Good ideas and intentions get lost in the fallout. Add the pressure that comes to bear on top of those responsible in the Glasgow goldfish bowl and constant change is inevitable. Individuals and structural. The obvious problem or danger is a two horse race becomes a one horse race. It happened before (2012) and lasted for about 8 years. They continue to operate within a financially viable model. We don't and appear to be front loading once again. If it works, good (but still no viable structure). If it doesn't work, the future ain't bright at Ibrox. -

European football used to be fun and I guess it still is if you are winning. Distorted finances in the game echo society in general. So much of the money flow has gone to the few at the top that lucky clubs below that level line up (in the CL groups) like whores to be fcuked, but well paid. I increasingly struggle to maintain interest. Favourable August headlines are now about earning XXmillion pounds for CL qualification. I preferred it when it was more about the football. An article on why Davie Cooper playing tennis throughout the summer had helped him hit the ground running in the new season. -

The least that I could do after being called a "Wannabe Nostradamus" was win the Predictor League again 😁 Keeping an eye on the Devil(s) is more my thing but that is another part of this forum, not Rangers Chat. “The second greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he is the good guy”—Ken Ammi” -
