  1. I thought we'd go up to Aberdeen and put on a European type performance and get the win when our backs were against the wall, but no. The performance suggested that something is rotten in Denmark. The players, or at least a good few, aren't interested enough and our squad is so light, that there isn't much competition for places. Despite the squad changing over time, the same general traits remain. - Positive response to new manager followed by cr@p. - Motivated on a Thursday, not so much at a weekend. - Don't respond well to pressure. Doing the same thing as a club, will probably mean more of the same. Especially when the downward spiral includes having a decreasing budget. No predictions from me for today.
  2. To be in a position to do that, you firstly need to learn from your mistakes. At all levels, we repeat them. From upstairs, to the football department and the support. Someone like Mike Ashley will be keeping an eye on us.
  3. Told by whom, a direct or an indirect source ?
  4. SC'76 Motherwell 2up but we come back to win 3-2 with some direct fitbaw. Peter McCloy, assist king. I was a wee laddie listening to David Francey commentary.
  5. Clement makes a point of mentioning 2012 again. Apparently it comes from the meeting he had with the full board in June. It was used to emphasis the need to change direction (financially) as in we don't want to go bankrupt again. The condition/direction of our finances were viewed as potentially existential in that meeting. John Bennett would have been part of that discussion and you wonder if he might have been PC's biggest defender. There was a defensive steeliness about Clement today. Lets see what he comes up with on Sunday.
  6. 'Stalking' can be pathetic when used consistently.
  7. THE financial expert could be the answer. Barry Ferguson could be appointed as our CEO, DOF and first team manager. Why did nobody think of this?
  8. John Bennett made it pretty clear what the short to medium term was looking like. Cutting cloth and pain.
  9. Is that the annual turnaround ? Must be getting dizzy.
  10. At the moment we have nothing in large part down to our self entitlement. Decades of overspend trying to feed it.
  11. As a club, our current situation isn't normal and the what may be considered as normal reactions to on the pitch stuff, won't do us much good just now and would very probably make things worse in the medium term. Our support is very loyal. In the last few years, it has been amazing. However, the self entitled expectation (currently unrealistic) that we have to win everything and the refusal to see the bigger picture at the club, means as well as being the life blood, we are on occasion, our own worst enemies. FFS, it was only 2 days ago when the numbers were published. A Lot will depend on the T&C of Clement's contract. Good luck trying to get a decent manager in, as things stand. Could be a new approach to lowering the wage bill. Just get rid of everyone and don't replace them. But at least we have a united fan representation, maybe they could take over.
  12. Patience is required for our current situation. If that means a fallow season then so be it. The rebuild is the whole club, not just the football team. We are in a complete mess, we have no money, there is no quick solution.
  13. Combine the financial, the executive vacum, the powderpuff football and an impatient support. Omnishambolic doesn't actually cover it.
  14. Fancy us to score 2 or 3 tonight and win. European levels and attitudes required.
  15. And you lecture certain posters about the need to stay on topic. Oh and by the way, the club is an omnishambolic mess 😄
  16. Its not a surprise, it is Groundhog day. We are a serial loss making concern that for decades have been looking for answers to avoid and ways to support the on average, 10 Million pound habit. It is tied in with currently unrealistic expectation levels that demand an almost instant hit. Post balance sheet items would point to same again, next year.
  17. Someone should have told the players.
  18. Certainly a relief but we will still be paying up the settlements until 2029, including interest. Seems that we paid 850,000 this year and nearly half of that was interest. Which is more than the 810,000 we received from player sales/loans this summer. Long road ahead....
  19. We are off to a flyer..... Post balance sheet events The following events have occurred subsequent to the year end: Acquisition and disposal of player registrations The Group contracted for the purchase of ten player registrations on permanent or loan terms. The amount payable in respect of the above amounts to £13.4 million, after taking account of direct costs. The Group also disposed of five player registrations on a permanent basis and four registrations on loan. The amount receivable in respect of above totalled £0.81 million.
  20. Celtic message board forums cancel all leave. Out a little earlier than usual. Without looking at anything else, that 17M number is a bit on the large size.
  21. There will be no title challenge this season and we have known this for months. The almost constant talk about it and use of it by many as an expectation /measurement for 'the rebuild' is unrealistic and counterproductive. We will finish second. Aberdeen will soon hit turbulence.
  22. For me, it was a penalty. The defender moves his arm towards the ball to block it.
  23. No, we were under a UEFA season long ban (after ECWC win 72). Hence, UEFA don't recognise the first Super Cup between us and Ajax. According to Wikipedia we had scored 601 European goals prior to the game last night but that included the 3 goals we scored in the Super Cup.
  24. Well done !! A real Thursday night performance. Very good for goal difference. The wagon still has four wheels and rolls onto St.Mirren at Ibrox. I think we (Cerny's first) might have scored our 600th goal in official European club competition* tonight. * Super Cup '73 games against Ajax weren't official.
  25. Thursday nights have motivated most of the players since Gerrard took over. I'd expect we'll start with urgency. Where that takes us, not a clue. No idea about FCSB.
