  1. The Scandinavian mindset is often refreshingly different on many issues.
  2. It was referred to twice, neither time were Celtic named,...it was a decision at the League Cup Final. So MacIntryre can ask the question about more Rangers supporting referees than Celtic but neither he or Michael Stewart wanted to mention that the erroneous decision in the League Cup Final was in favour of Celtic. Stewart referred to two other Dallas mistakes, he named names regards a St.Johnstone penalty award against Hearts but didn't mention that Celtic had played in the League Cup Final, nevermind get the benefit of the error. So, the programme puts forward a roundabout inference or suggestion that Dallas might be a Rangers supporter (opposed to Celtic) who erroneously awarded Rangers a plethora of penalties but is at pains to make sure it doesn't mention the same referee awarded Celtic a penalty that never was. #Balance_Aye
  3. I note that Bobby Madden has been appointed as referee for our game at Aberdeen. It's been widely claimed he was/is an ST holder at Ibrox. A penny for his thoughts as he listened to Sportsound yesterday. Effectively, Sportsound has contributed in a mainstream type of way to pointing at him and daring him to make any major 50/50 calls in favour of Rangers #UnreasonablePressue Sportsound has increased the pressure on Madden significantly but in a particular way.
  4. I doubt they will. Klopp is an all round decent guy but when it comes down to it, he's a born runner-up
  5. First and foremost, Souness is a Souness supporter and always was. Most people in the game prioritise their own interests.
  6. PQ (Sportsound) went that little bit further down the road of stripping away it's veneer of objectivity yesterday. They set-up the programme mainly to highlight: - how awful and wrong Andrew Dallas had been in awarding Rangers 4 penalties - introduce a more sinister angle regards Rangers supporting referees They did this by inviting ex-referee Steve Conroy who had already made his opinion on the penalties very clear on another medium. In other words, PQ knew what opinion they were getting and it helped them manage the conversation. Despite Kenny MacIntryre using Steve Conroy to help suggest that there are/were more Rangers supporting referees than Celtic supporting referees, PQ managed to find one (Conroy openly a Celtic fan), of what is apparently a rare species and Kenny MacIntrye pushed the issue as far as he could towards not only controversy, but gently towards corruption that had been claimed in a Celtic supporters video that had been partly filmed in Celtic Park. Another referee, Dermot Gallagher (ironically, born in Ireland) had opined differently to Conroy wrt the penalties. He was mentioned in passing but his opinion given short shrift by the programme and Michael Stewart in particular. Nor was it mentioned to Conroy whilst he had been interviewed by MacIntyre. It was the ticking of a box but the swift & easy dismissal of Gallagher's opinion whilst taking Celtic supporting Conroy's so earnestly with subsequent expansion to Rangers supporting referees tends to suggest perhaps Sportsound have stumbled onto an unobjective and corrupt angle, but that it resides at Pacific Quay. The programme was IMO set-up with one main immediate intention, beyond but in addition to Scottish football politics. To contribute to a momentum of noise that on balance, makes it less likely we'll get the benefit of the doubt wrt refereeing decisions in the near future. A time that is vital wrt the League Championship. Link to podcast of the Sportsound programme referred to https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06zyx61
  7. He is petulant at times and does have his disciplinnary issues. Generally, the media have given this disproportionate coverage and relentless attention to the point of it being campaign like.
  8. The Sportsound programme this evening will almost certainly be analysing the penalties tonight. You'll probably have Stewart, McFadden, and Broadfoot.D on. They've had a couple of days and the opportunity to look at all the various camera angles. Just as PQ used the 24-48 hours after the OF match to come up with the Morelos montage, they should have been able to ascertain that 3 of the four penalties were penalties and the second (which was missed) was very soft. They can criticise Dallas for the second penalty but if they've done their objective homework, they should now praise him for the 4th award, a very good spot on his part. And of course, they can mention the same referee giving Celtic a penalty that never was in a recent Cup Final. This time, at Ibrox, he and his assistant got the edge of the box decisions correct. ps. Those Bears on twitter should supply Kenny MacIntyre/Michael Stewart with all relevant footage including the Russian Rangers supporters link posted by Der Berliner (below) that has the definitive angle re. 4th penalty. http://rangersfc.org/index.php?dn=news&to=art&id=3605
  9. Yes, the Russian TV angle on the 4th penalty tells a different story to what I'd seen before. Dallas got a difficult decision spot-on. I wonder if the Sportsound crew tonight will have done comprehensive and objective search on the penalties.
  10. My late Dad was a friend of his brother #CoolStory
  11. Willie Collum is going to get the game, award us a penalty and send Considine off
  12. There was always going to be a lot made of us getting 4 penalties. It's a low quality click-bait media age that is especially poor in Scottish football. First and third looked stonewallers Second looked soft and we missed it anyway. Fourth wasn't a penalty but the game was done by then. We've had plenty not given so getting a bit of luck in this game was a bit of 'evening-up'. Pity we couldn't have banked them for the next two games.
  13. Thus far they have been prone to blips between long winning runs. 14. The same middle to front that beat Celtic should start on Wednesday. I'd play Barisic Neither Davis or Defoe should start. Goldson ?
  15. Let's hope so. This week is HUGE regards staying in contention for silverware. We'll need to put in two top performances in 4 days at difficult away venues. In other words, more or less break new ground.
  16. Today would certainly have been better than Rugby Park. If we want to stay in touch at the top, I don't think there is much scope for experimentation, period. Today should be straightforward but tinker too much and there is scope for complicating the task. The ideal: Win the game in 60 minutes and use the 30 for tinkering.
  17. Liverpool have a Heavyweight CL contest in the midweek prior to that game. This season could still go very Pete Tong for the Scousers if they can't get back to winning consistency soon.
  18. As the weeks pass, alterations in formation and of players are inevitable for obvious reasons. However, we want and need a consistency of positive results and to this end, the tinkering aspect to it should be kept to a minimum. In other words, if you want consistent results, be as consistent as possible in selection. SG&Co have to quickly decide on what way they are going to go and who they are going to trust in. Central defence is one example, decide on the best pairing and stick with it. Up front, we can't be chopping and changing to accommodate a player. You'd like to think that today will be something of a formality. On paper, it's about as straightforward a fixture as you'll get and I trust that we'll get the business done with something to spare. Hopefully, giving the manager some license to use the bench relatively early. Guessing the starting line-up has been more difficult than the score this season (and I've been useless in the later) so I'll pass on that but I'd hope to see Davis showing some quality today and McCrorie back in the team.
  19. As it stands (in the real world), he isn't........... but in time might well be worth more than that.
  20. Whilst we can rightly claim a degree of loyalty second to none in Scotland, the main issue with attendances is revenue. In other words, even if XX,000 aren't bothered enough to turn up and take their seat at the Brendenbeu, they've paid for it and over a season, it's another important financial advantage they currently hold over us.
  21. If you take the KIlmarnock defeat. If Kamara brings his qualities to Ibrox and can handle the weight of the shirt, then his bravery and ability on the ball would have been a step-up from what Ryan Jack gave us that night.
  22. How far can Morelos go in the game ? I'd guess and say in terms of the UK, he could eventually get to mid table EPL. With potential, I'd say he's worth around 12M just now but the fact is it depends on how much interested clubs are willing to pay. There doesn't seem to have been any concrete interest in him this window and in an ideal world (within the clubs business model) we'll either get him to sign an extension or move him on this summer. It's up to Alfredo to keep improving, play well, keep his place, score goals and if that could help us to silverware come May, it could only push the value upwards.
  23. If there was an award for most improved player, Halliday would win it IMO. The type of player and character a Rangers squad will always need.
  24. Crazy set of results given the consistency the top sides have shown this season. Bookies will be happy. Spurs who are now only two points behind Man City, are the only senior side in England or Scotland not to have drawn a league game and it's the end of January
  25. The most important thing right now for JR is getting games. Going to a Championship club and ending up on the bench is no good. If he can stay fit and get 4 months of games then that is an important step forward for the lad. I'd consider anything we get out of or from JR now as a bonus and our recruitment tends to suggest we aren't expecting much from him anytime soon.
