  1. For anyone to try and pretend he doesn't have a disciplinary issue and it's all down to the Scottish officials would be engaging in partisan paranoia. Think back to Ufa and what that could have cost us. Apart from that, all the reds have come against the same team and ironically, a suspension accrued against other teams meant missing an Aberdeen game. On the other hand it would be fair to say the coverage, both amount and slant from certain media outlets isn't even close to being balanced. One thing that seldom gets mentioned is that he seems made of rock and never seems to get injured. This has meant he stll misses relatively few games despite the various suspensions.
  2. Better to divide the respective totals by population if you want a fair comparison.
  3. If the club were to get 15M for Morelos, a player who was bought for 1M a couple of years ago that would be fairly spectacular business.... I reckon we need to try for as high a sell-on % as possible because his next move could be for silly money. In relation to the Dembele deal, I reckon Celtic set that up in such a way that the overall cost to them in terms of signing-on fee, wage level and probable percentage of final deal to MD&Co (19.8M) would make their net financial benefit very close to or even LESS than what we would get with a 15M fee.
  4. Fashion Statements bouncing around the short-sighted hate zone of Scottish Football.
  5. They are a big club from a big city with a rich history and they seek to become Evertonlike or somewhere close to it. Not easy in todays game but not impossible.
  6. They basically gambled and won the bet. They'd be wise to look to consolidate rather than gamble again with an IOU on red. Clubs like them need to ensure high earner contracts are drawn up so they automatically change if relegated.
  7. The cutting of allocations and subsequent reverse actions by tuther team is very Scottish Football 2018/19 #fashionable
  8. If it were only that simple. 1. Come up with very optimistic incoming transfer fee and repeat it so much you start to believe it 2. Allocate XXMillion to sign Y and Z who will provide creation and goals to take us to our 55th title It would be great if it worked out like that and the premise is most probably what we'll be looking to do but things seldom work out exactly the way you want. - If Alfredo is sold, does it happen early or late in the window ? - How much will it be for ? - Do we commit and look to buy a couple of quality players early in the window ? - Would this undermine our negotiating position re. AM ? - Do the quality players settle in and hit ground running ? Another question for recruitment is what kind of quality do we go for ? - top quality veteran with best years behind him - younger player (23-25) judged to be on course to soon reach a 'good place' - quality player in the prime of his career (relative to SPFL) Sometimes you won't need to spend 5M / High Wages or anywhere near it to get relative quality and it's more about putting a cohesive squad together. Think Kamara instead of Davis. It was a positive to see that Kamara got a four and a half year contract whilst Davis got 6 months (thank the lord we didn't buy him and give him 2 years). I reckon SG will go for a solid centre-half, a creative midfielder and a potential replacement for Alfredo. He'll also want Ryan Kent.....let's tell clubs it's now 35M for Alfredo
  9. Over the years, Ramos has been a fantastic player for them in the CL as well as someone who prioritises winning over Queensbury rules. However, his decision in Amsterdam, judging the tie to be won and deliberately getting a yellow card was I think symptomatic of where he and this current Real Madrid set-up are. Zidane saw it coming and left, a wise man of few words. The Madrid squad had won three CL's on the bounce but it had reached and in it's favourite Cup competition had forced it's way over a relative hill. It wasn't for doing anything else, especially after a WC summer.
  10. Thank's to all involved for another good listen. Pete, you are better 'live' and you had your finest hour on the pod
  11. Agreed. We'd be getting a current Scottish Internationalist on the right side of 30 years of age for NO fee and weakening one of our rivals in the process. #No-Brainer
  12. What about the Hacks output driving folk to the bottle and swirling copious amounts of Whisky around their mouths
  13. Devine calls something reasonably and IMO accurately
  14. I don't know.......is it possible that Scottish Fitbaw Hacks could generate enough hypocritical and one eyed Colin Nish to induce a rage that acts as and replaces a dental anesthectic ?
  15. Sounds good but wrt valuation, I doubt it currently corresponds to the marketplace. - I think given the business model, the club need to cash-in on AM this summer - SG would much prefer business to be done earlier rather than later - Regards Money and Quantums, the European Qualifiers are our most important games of the season - If the summer is a protracted transfer story about AM, it might half-stop our season before it starts. - Replacing AM wouldn't be easy and is another challenge for the management/recruitment
  16. Or in this case........No smoke = Raging Inferno
  17. There will be a lot of interest but no matter how affluent, clubs don't tend to want to throw inflated fees at Scottish clubs and tend to play hardball. I think Morelos could go as far as he wants in the game if he is prepared to work hard and continue to evolve as a player but as it stands he's the best forward in the Scottish game when on his game but it hasn't happened enough when playing the better sides. He has the opportunity to change that in what remains of the season. If he wants to be getting a regular game...Currently, I reckon you are looking at a Championship side who has realistic ambition to get promoted type of level and if he shows he can perform there then another step-up would beckon and that is where the funny money would kick-in #AddOns
  18. Problem is that you aren't in the market for him.
  19. I can see a bit of a stalemate in the coming transfer window. A number of interested clubs but none willing to match our valuation. Hypothetical, but the danger is that Alfredo wouldn't be best pleased at not getting a move and this would show in his game at a time when we are looking to get through European qualifiers. Now, if he could play a couple of blinders and score goals (and avoid booking against Sheep) that put us into a SC Final and then win it.....the hypothetical might stretch to a club getting close enough to a valuation for the club to sell and get on with replacing him in the early part of the summer (opposed to last day in August).
  20. By mid-April Lafferty will have hit his straps and be on an amazing scoring streak Alfredo against Aberdeen this season 1-1 (A) Red (downgraded to a Yellow) 0-1 LC Suspended 0-1 (H) Red (Two Yellows) 2-4 (A) Red and Two Goals 1-1 SC Yellow Maybe he's due a cardless game against them ! I note the Home team are yet to win a game. Again, time that changed.
  21. Would be an excellent value addition to the sqaud on a Bosman. I'd compare what he could do with us,... to what Halliday is doing this season, only better. The type of player that SG could trust to do a job.
  22. Difficult game to referee and Clancy struggled with the pressure. He got a lot wrong for both sides.
  23. I don't think sight was the issue.
  24. At least the replay will bring an extra wedge of cash to the club. This will be the fifth SC game and we still aren't in the semi-finals. Between the two replays thus far it'll be not far from another seven figure sum to add onto the revenue column. #SilverLining
