Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Sounds good but wrt valuation, I doubt it currently corresponds to the marketplace. - I think given the business model, the club need to cash-in on AM this summer - SG would much prefer business to be done earlier rather than later - Regards Money and Quantums, the European Qualifiers are our most important games of the season - If the summer is a protracted transfer story about AM, it might half-stop our season before it starts. - Replacing AM wouldn't be easy and is another challenge for the management/recruitment -
Or in this case........No smoke = Raging Inferno

Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

There will be a lot of interest but no matter how affluent, clubs don't tend to want to throw inflated fees at Scottish clubs and tend to play hardball. I think Morelos could go as far as he wants in the game if he is prepared to work hard and continue to evolve as a player but as it stands he's the best forward in the Scottish game when on his game but it hasn't happened enough when playing the better sides. He has the opportunity to change that in what remains of the season. If he wants to be getting a regular game...Currently, I reckon you are looking at a Championship side who has realistic ambition to get promoted type of level and if he shows he can perform there then another step-up would beckon and that is where the funny money would kick-in #AddOns -

Problem is that you aren't in the market for him. -

I can see a bit of a stalemate in the coming transfer window. A number of interested clubs but none willing to match our valuation. Hypothetical, but the danger is that Alfredo wouldn't be best pleased at not getting a move and this would show in his game at a time when we are looking to get through European qualifiers. Now, if he could play a couple of blinders and score goals (and avoid booking against Sheep) that put us into a SC Final and then win it.....the hypothetical might stretch to a club getting close enough to a valuation for the club to sell and get on with replacing him in the early part of the summer (opposed to last day in August). -
By mid-April Lafferty will have hit his straps and be on an amazing scoring streak Alfredo against Aberdeen this season 1-1 (A) Red (downgraded to a Yellow) 0-1 LC Suspended 0-1 (H) Red (Two Yellows) 2-4 (A) Red and Two Goals 1-1 SC Yellow Maybe he's due a cardless game against them ! I note the Home team are yet to win a game. Again, time that changed.

Would be an excellent value addition to the sqaud on a Bosman. I'd compare what he could do with us,... to what Halliday is doing this season, only better. The type of player that SG could trust to do a job.

Difficult game to referee and Clancy struggled with the pressure. He got a lot wrong for both sides. -
I don't think sight was the issue.

At least the replay will bring an extra wedge of cash to the club. This will be the fifth SC game and we still aren't in the semi-finals. Between the two replays thus far it'll be not far from another seven figure sum to add onto the revenue column. #SilverLining -

Cosgrove got booked, his second of the competition and probably out of replay. -

Good question. Maybe there were so many candidates to come off the manager couldn't make up his mind -

Poor conditions, poor game, poor performance BUT we are still in the Cup. -

No subs yet but the change has to be the approach and attitude. -

Not for the yellow. IIRC it's only Lafferty who has had a yellow card in the Scottish Cup this season. -

If we aren't making any headway come 60 minutes I'd be tempted to bring Lafferty and Defoe to go 2 up top. -

Big Game needs the Big Players to come to the party. Someone let Alfredo know that this isn't a training match. -

Not at the races. One of those all too familar days against Aberdeen where a Morelos red looks more likely than a Rangers goal. -

Don't know but tbh I think the others on the bench deserve to be in front of him. -

An unchanged team is a rare but welcome sight. Let's hope Arfield is closer to 100% than 75%. We'll get a better idea about Kamara today. The sheep are going to come out and try and get away with some early hits, especially on our midfield three, Alfredo and Ryan Kent..... Hopefully we dance around them and score an early goal. -

Is Kamara our best option for this battle game ? If Arfield is available then there is a good case to be made for not changing it. If not then it's how a midfield combination would work in this particular game rather than individual for individual. Will McCrorie be considered ? Who would replace Arfield and play his role ? -

Huge game ! If Morelos can stay on the pitch and Arfield can make the starting XI, I'd be confident of us being in the semi-final draw. First and foremost it'll be about attitude then the football. I can see both teams being up for this and it being another battle. We'll have to be fully up for it but without losing the heid or giving the referee an opportunity to get the red card out. It's the middle of the park where SG will probably have to make the difficult calls....team news less than 3 hours away. -------------- Meaningless Aside of the Day (MAD) Going into this season, we hadn't played Aberdeen in any Cup competition for 15 seasons. Waiting ages for a bus then two come along........... -
You don't seem to get it or realise that the difference (like it or not) are those decades and current reality. Put bluntly and generally, stop playing the victim regards the songs and simply stop singing them. Then we'd see where that would take us. At this point we'd have to wake-up politically and start being savvy or just be kept in a similar place under a different charge.
