  1. Is Kamara our best option for this battle game ? If Arfield is available then there is a good case to be made for not changing it. If not then it's how a midfield combination would work in this particular game rather than individual for individual. Will McCrorie be considered ? Who would replace Arfield and play his role ?
  2. Huge game ! If Morelos can stay on the pitch and Arfield can make the starting XI, I'd be confident of us being in the semi-final draw. First and foremost it'll be about attitude then the football. I can see both teams being up for this and it being another battle. We'll have to be fully up for it but without losing the heid or giving the referee an opportunity to get the red card out. It's the middle of the park where SG will probably have to make the difficult calls....team news less than 3 hours away. -------------- Meaningless Aside of the Day (MAD) Going into this season, we hadn't played Aberdeen in any Cup competition for 15 seasons. Waiting ages for a bus then two come along...........
  3. You don't seem to get it or realise that the difference (like it or not) are those decades and current reality. Put bluntly and generally, stop playing the victim regards the songs and simply stop singing them. Then we'd see where that would take us. At this point we'd have to wake-up politically and start being savvy or just be kept in a similar place under a different charge.
  4. Would seem to be the case although the curious case of David Templeton comes to mind.
  5. The future will be better if we drop some of the now embarrassing baggage from the past. Back in the 70's I'd sing all the songs but I now cringe when I hear them. Not only is it embarrassing that grown men feel the need to do it but it's self-harming as far as the club is concerned, never mind individually. IIRC you wrote a fair bit about the O.O. when those threads were up in the Lounge. If your opinion here is intertwined with the O.O., maybe they along with the RC church, are indeed part of the problem and society would be better off without both. The RC Church has major issues with headline industrial scale child rape but what are the Scottish newspapers talking about ?.....Rangers supporters singing songs within a sectarian problem. Politically, we don't have a scooby doo.
  6. What about the gullibility angle ? A football manager/player proclaiming undying love for the badge who suddenly goes elsewhere and pledges his life/love again is par for the course. The main issue is that the support were taken in by the standard rhetoric.
  7. I haven't seen the programme so can't comment regards balance. When it comes to pundits, Stewart is a different animal to the custom and you could say, is a product of the times whose particular views/slants suit the #EditoriallyFair PQ almost perfectly. It (PQ) is BBC Scotland and it's natural that Scots take control of it's management. The issue is that it is a publicly funded broadcaster that should take due care to be balanced in it's output. Wrt the situation between us and PQ, IMO there is enough evidence out there to put forward a convincing case but the club need to find partners/conduits to help collate and present such, in a strategic way that can bring real pressure to bear. A series of disparate actions won't get us any further forward.
  8. 'Lies, damn lies and stats' The result contains the two numbers that matter and dictate through what prism the rest is viewed. Hence the manager and his coaching staff have the responsibility to make judgement calls regards the future, not the historic past. The historic past obviously has it's relevance but it is limited and from a Joe Punter POV is perhaps best illustrated in a Fixed Odds coupon, where no matter the time spent pouring over form, etc...... more often than not, an unexpected narrative emerges to scupper the best laid line
  9. The BBC describe it..........Adapted from the cult podcast The Terrace, it will have a cheeky and irreverent tone that is heavily rooted in the hosts’ love of the game........... That is consistent with the content you describe. Unbalanced automatic criticism doesn't do us any good.
  10. I wonder if Matt will ever make it as big as his burd ? If nothing else, at least he'll enjoy the ride.
  11. There are many more pressing problems that have considerably more tangible damage on people and society in general. This is about pushing a relatively low level priority narrative that is orchestrated in a predictable fashion by a familiar cast.
  12. It's better than "good". I'd say a must-read and then a re-read.
  13. A quick question off the top of my head Could you look to convert the whole Broomloan Front to safe standing if there were demand from the UB plus others ? - Grow a partnership/relationship/long-term ST holder base with the younger generation. - Look to curtail at part of the source, damaging songs/add-ons and as a club do as much as possible to get our act together in sight of further measures potentially being taken, eg. strict liability or similar. - At sametime, help support/lobby for our fans (looking for 'cross party union') wrt basic freedoms and over zealous political treatment that ends up with questionable Police methods/targetting.
  14. No need for the tools or specs ! The podcast comes with a note of duration and when the attention turns from Hamilton to the Brendanlessbeu, a glance at running time is suffice. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p071v9x7
  15. Not a good look but you have to consider what the main society driver for this is. #OverZealousPolisMeidaPoliticalAttentiononFootballFans
  16. The club have to think about the future and attracting enough support to fill the stadium. Many of those who might prefer 'library atmosphere' won't be around for ever. Bluedell refers to balance and whilst the UB need to respect certain lines in todays environment, the club shouldn't take them for granted and need to cater to what are paying customers. I think you have to look at the UB and what they want as an opportunity to make something special and have it grow. At the sametime the club can look to tackle certain issues wiith the songbook together with the UB.
  17. We have league 10 games left and 9 of them will be against the 'Top Six' with a difficult Motherwell (A) fixture being the other. Fri 08/03/19 PRE Hibernian 20 : 45 Rangers More info Sat 16/03/19 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Kilmarnock More info Sun 31/03/19 PRE Celtic 13 : 00 Rangers More info Wed 03/04/19 PRE Rangers 20 : 45 Hearts More info Sun 07/04/19 PRE Motherwell 13 : 30 Rangers
  18. Further down the line, imagine a whole Broomloan Road End that was a UB section with safe standing installed ! Would surely capture the imagination of a lot of the younger generations, attract new attending support and create a notable atmosphere.
  19. That's stretching it a bit. Having to secure assets against a Close Brothers Facility isn't a positive IMO, at least in an ideal world. It's about where we are on the road back,...the positive is that we are on that road and moving forward.
  20. Just as well we got into the European group stages. On this theme, one of the most important things for SG&Co to get right is to have the team up and running for the European qualifiers in the summer and hope for a degree of luck come the draw.
  21. Had a look around and FF had a link to a site which in turn contained another link (supplied below) In this article there are indeed quotes from Alfredo where the aforementioned claims are made. https://gol.caracoltv.com/colombianos-en-el-exterior/no-todo-es-color-de-rosa-para-alfredo-morelos-en-rangers-evito-salir-la-calle-por-los-hinchas-del-ie22789 @ian1964 @Frankie
  22. They say better late than never Sunday Sportsound podcast lasted 62 minutes and covered two games, Hamilton v Rangers and Celtic v Motherwell. Our game got 19 minutes and the Celtic game got 43 minutes #EditoriallyFair
  23. I've just listened to the original interview (link below) and it doesn't mention anything about harrassment by Celtic fans. Unless interview has been edited or above tweet refers to a different interview, the claim is inaccurate. http://www.wradio.com.co/amp/nota.aspx?id=3869470&__twitter_impression=true
  24. It includes two Cup games against Kilmarnock that we never got a yellow card which always helps avoid damaging suspensions further down the line. We didn't get any yellows last night either. By my reckoning and soccerways stats, we have two players (Arfield and Goldson) who are one yellow card away from a suspension. If that is correct then if they were to be booked in our next league match at Easter Road, they'd miss the trip to the Brendanlessbeu. I might be wrong but I think Morelos is 2 yellow cards (League) away from incurring another suspension.
  25. Logic when taking account recent form might suggest a straightforward task but the sheep is a wounded animal and their season is backed into a corner with only a chink of light visible. That light could go out this weekend but you can bet your last penny that they'll be fully up for a competitive scrap that we'll need to match. Above and beyond recent form, we need to go into the game with the right attitude.
