I think it hinges on Arfield and Morelos. If Arfield is fit enough to do a job and link with a Morelos is fully up for it and can finish a couple of chances. The rest of the team is fairly functional and reasonably consistent. -

I don't think we'd miss those who advocate genocide. A bivvy on Rockall with no internet connection would suffice. -

Where would Rangers be without East Coasters ? Wallace Baxter Greig Jardine Johnstone Forlanssister etc -
I reckon the club may have offered Morelos a competitive financial package that is aimed at trying to keep him at Ibrox for another season, so as to help win the title back. You take Alfredo out of our team and there is a massive hole to fill. Dedicating some of the budget towards the Columbian would make sense. Obviously if silly money is offered and turns Alfredo's head, he may still be off but I think SG&Co want to keep him for an all-out attempt at the league.

Last visit saw a Steak Performance but a Mince Result that was mainly down to Alfredo and perfomance/finishing. We are very Alfredo Reliant and other teams know this and still can't stop him when he's on his game #Unplayable -
Rangers close to signing Motherwell starlet Jake Hastie on pre-contract

This would be an excellent signing and it would help show a football operation going down the right road both on and off field. I think it's important to get the bright Scottish youngsters in and to do it on the relative cheap, even better. -

I think Arfield has a habit of telling Gerrard that he's fit enough to start, even when he isn't and given the lack of options for his spot, SG tends to play him with fingers crossed....At a push, you could put Grezda on the left and Kent in the middle but a start for the Albanian might be a bigger risk than a XX % fit Arfield.....so as per your line-up, t the latter will probably start. Always good to see McCrorie in for this type of fixture and Kamara didn't do his case any harm last week when he showed he could battle up at Aberdeen. Glad to see a settled central defence at last. No surprise it has co-incided with our best run of results. However, we now go up against the most challenging run of domestic fixtures of the season at the business end. It's a list of 11 to 13 maximum matches all but one against the better half of the top tier and the exception is a difficult away game at Motherwell. Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Continuing the comparison with Dembele........ I don't think the French forward missed a minute of league football because of suspension (ie. no disciplinary issue) BUT he did miss a lot of minutes because of injury. In the two full seasons he was in Glasgow he played 3363 minutes in the league of the 6840 possible (scoring 26 goals and 12 assists) Alfredo in two full seasons (less 10 fixtures still to play) has played 4415 minutes in the league of 5940 possible (scoring 30 goals and 10 assists) stats: soccerway https://uk.soccerway.com/players/alfredo-jose-morelo-avilez/290501/ https://uk.soccerway.com/players/moussa-dembele/289781/ Going back to your observation. A club doing it's due diligence will see value in the high availability rate of Morelos. It's arguably easier to deal with a disciplinary issue than a hamstring and the latter will cost you more in availability. For us, it has to be noted that the suspensions have cost us dear and if the 9 men of Ufa hadn't have defended like heroes, the issue would have cost any profit we'd have made on player trading with the Columbian. On the other hand, without the away goal he scored in Osijek we may not have got to Ufa. -
Would be interesting to gather up the historic quotes from the Sportsound cast about Shinnie and his combative style then contrast them with next season.

For anyone to try and pretend he doesn't have a disciplinary issue and it's all down to the Scottish officials would be engaging in partisan paranoia. Think back to Ufa and what that could have cost us. Apart from that, all the reds have come against the same team and ironically, a suspension accrued against other teams meant missing an Aberdeen game. On the other hand it would be fair to say the coverage, both amount and slant from certain media outlets isn't even close to being balanced. One thing that seldom gets mentioned is that he seems made of rock and never seems to get injured. This has meant he stll misses relatively few games despite the various suspensions. -
Better to divide the respective totals by population if you want a fair comparison.

Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

If the club were to get 15M for Morelos, a player who was bought for 1M a couple of years ago that would be fairly spectacular business.... I reckon we need to try for as high a sell-on % as possible because his next move could be for silly money. In relation to the Dembele deal, I reckon Celtic set that up in such a way that the overall cost to them in terms of signing-on fee, wage level and probable percentage of final deal to MD&Co (19.8M) would make their net financial benefit very close to or even LESS than what we would get with a 15M fee. -
Fashion Statements bouncing around the short-sighted hate zone of Scottish Football.

They are a big club from a big city with a rich history and they seek to become Evertonlike or somewhere close to it. Not easy in todays game but not impossible.
-
They basically gambled and won the bet. They'd be wise to look to consolidate rather than gamble again with an IOU on red. Clubs like them need to ensure high earner contracts are drawn up so they automatically change if relegated.

The cutting of allocations and subsequent reverse actions by tuther team is very Scottish Football 2018/19 #fashionable

Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
If it were only that simple. 1. Come up with very optimistic incoming transfer fee and repeat it so much you start to believe it 2. Allocate XXMillion to sign Y and Z who will provide creation and goals to take us to our 55th title It would be great if it worked out like that and the premise is most probably what we'll be looking to do but things seldom work out exactly the way you want. - If Alfredo is sold, does it happen early or late in the window ? - How much will it be for ? - Do we commit and look to buy a couple of quality players early in the window ? - Would this undermine our negotiating position re. AM ? - Do the quality players settle in and hit ground running ? Another question for recruitment is what kind of quality do we go for ? - top quality veteran with best years behind him - younger player (23-25) judged to be on course to soon reach a 'good place' - quality player in the prime of his career (relative to SPFL) Sometimes you won't need to spend 5M / High Wages or anywhere near it to get relative quality and it's more about putting a cohesive squad together. Think Kamara instead of Davis. It was a positive to see that Kamara got a four and a half year contract whilst Davis got 6 months (thank the lord we didn't buy him and give him 2 years). I reckon SG will go for a solid centre-half, a creative midfielder and a potential replacement for Alfredo. He'll also want Ryan Kent.....let's tell clubs it's now 35M for Alfredo -
Over the years, Ramos has been a fantastic player for them in the CL as well as someone who prioritises winning over Queensbury rules. However, his decision in Amsterdam, judging the tie to be won and deliberately getting a yellow card was I think symptomatic of where he and this current Real Madrid set-up are. Zidane saw it coming and left, a wise man of few words. The Madrid squad had won three CL's on the bounce but it had reached and in it's favourite Cup competition had forced it's way over a relative hill. It wasn't for doing anything else, especially after a WC summer.

Agreed. We'd be getting a current Scottish Internationalist on the right side of 30 years of age for NO fee and weakening one of our rivals in the process. #No-Brainer
