  1. It's Shinnie, McGinn and GMS who have tended to be their main players to carry the ball forward. Yesterday was their Sadiq moment in terms of availability.
  2. I think you'd have to factor in the media environment of the mid 80's compared to now. That said, my point was more related to pragmatic management style.
  3. Can't help but feel had Walter Smith been a manager of say Dundee United (not coach) that we could have said similar about him.
  4. Thing about Soapy is that he does have some potential to become a decent ball playing centre back but he is still at the stage of making too many mistakes in big games....What that means in a Rangers shirt is failure and at best, the bench. We need a central defensive partnership that is primarily solid. This season we have conceded 25 league goals in 35 matches with a +53 GD. Last season we conceded 50 league goals in 38 matches with a +26 GD Goldson has been ok to decent and is probably in the managers thoughts to continue his starting place, it's a matter of who to put beside him. We need better than Souttar currently is and CH is a position where we need tried and tested starters. IMO Katic is good enough to be one of the two back-ups but we need a bit of quality to slot in beside Goldson.
  5. That generation of players were probably closer to the supporter and the empathy that underpins opinions of those individuals had real substance.
  6. Had the Tav goal (given offside) stood he'd have joined a 9M pound striker on 14 league goals. Tav has 14 league assists, miles ahead of anyone else, including that 9M pound striker who has 5. Not forgetting that Tav also has to defend. We won't know or appreciate what we have until he has gone !
  7. ...Fellow pundit Michael Stewart chimed in and he thinks the 22-year-old made too much of the incident. He said: "I don't have a problem with Katic going down but it's the way that he stays down after having a hand brushed across the top of his head. "Don't roll around and hold your face." But Thompson interjected as he reaffirmed his strong opinion over the decision which led to the second goal. "It's embarrassing, it's embarrassing. "It was over the top from him and certainly not a penalty kick." https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-defender-nikola-katic-should-14967162 ----------------------------- Was it as embarrassing as................. Was the frankly outrageous Broon dive mentioned on Sportscene/PQ ?
  8. Thank's Stevie ! I'm guessing a two year contract. Not sure whether to be pleased or not tbh. Will have a better idea after the Celtic game... and once the transfer window eventually closes regards to get an idea of how much of the wage bill he'll be picking up.
  9. The Rumour was certainly surprising but it won't happen. The real question regards Southampton midfielders is more about Steven Davis and do we offer him a contract. He's played a few decent games now, too late to mean much but he's now showing interest. For me, he needs to keep it going and that includes having a real positive effect in the OF match on the horizon.
  10. Excellent pod lads Good variation to chat and the hour flew by ! Having a guest who offers specific insight into the club makes a real difference IMO and Peter Jenkins certainly knows his stuff !
  11. Good performance and result You can see what SG&Co are trying to do. Add the right players of quality to it and there will be reasons to be cheerful and optimistic.
  12. And again and again and again and again.
  13. Wouldn't sanction anymore than 750K on Souttar. From what I've seen in the last couple of weeks, he's simply not worth a big slice of our budget. Probably better to pass altogether.
  14. Just watched 20 minutes of the Hibs v Hearts match. Poor quality and Souttar has had a couple of bad mistakes that he got away with.
  15. Telling the world isn't the best negotiating tactic.
  16. Thank's John ! I think that those numbers point to a difficult task for an emerging lobby/pressure group on the protestant side. I reckon that just like the football politics within Glasgow, that more of the RC side will be politically active and generally more practised at it. They also have a union of sorts with the politicians of the day, as well as important media outlets.
  17. Yesterday was a difficult day for the Accumulators This time of year tends to throw up more unexpected results than the norm.\ Rangers Women are 33/1 to win today 26/1 two quid double Leicester to win Rangers v Aberdeen correct score 0-0
  18. Don't know any background to this but tend to think this extension is something that should have been done a while ago.
  19. In the two defeats at Ibrox against Aberdeen this season (only two home defeats of the campaign) we have hardly created anything. It's about management finding a system and picking the right players to be able to create chances against a parked red bus without 350M to spend in the summer. If the chances are missed blame the players but if we can't create the chances, large % of blame goes to management.
  20. Aye, that we do. I hope you both enjoy the day out !
  21. The absence of Morelos has been a feature of games against Aberdeen, even when in the starting line-up. I hope Defoe makes it today because it should give us a better idea as to the comparison you mention. The obvious thing after 180 minutes without a goal at Ibrox against Aberdeen, is that we have to do something different. I hope SG would have been for a change in our approach, whether Morelos was available or not. It's probably more a test of the management team today than the players.
