When McLeish was being mentioned in connection with the Rangers job last year, my own thoughts about this were please ABR (Anyone But Rangers). I didn't think he was up to it and when he did some punditry work at that time, he visibly didn't come accross as the same Eck as before. In other words, whilst such factions may well exist, I could well understand objections to him getting the job that had nothing to do with factions, more than someone seeing him the man for the job.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Makes sense that he is rated higher than Middleton, otherwise why sign him !? -
They have a forward (Sanchez) who is appparently paid more than 2Million sterling a month and has scored one league goal this season in nearly 800 minutes. Sat on the bench for the whole 90 minutes yesterday. They signed Fred for over 50 Million sterling and he plays like Sol Bamba. Then there is Pogba...........

The unwritten and unofficial law of football sayeth that after a really bad result, a big club usually bounce backeth in the next game. OGS should at least drop those he thinks are not interested and bring in players that at least will try their best, eg. Pogba should be out of the squad. Still think City are too good and have too much in play to drop anything at Old Trafford, 1-3.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Hastie's physique gives him as a 20 year old, a head start and the potential for a larger sell-on value (logic: good big yin is worth more than a good wee yin) in for example, England. Getting lads like this is the way to go and now it's about improving everything about his game and more. I have high hopes for this lad. Not because of any particular insight, just something in my water ! -

What I was calling a force-fit was your comparison with the video/tweet you posted. The reason I asked you for a definition of the term "follower" as used in your post about tweet/comparison was to further understand argument regards responsibility. I'd agree with you that the politicians and pressure groups have the O.O. where they want them and are themselves force-fitting what seems as unreasonable criteria regards the responsibility for spectators (if that is what they are). That said, if a march or whatever event attracts unsavoury elements/criminal behaviour, then the authorities do have a duty to act/look to prevent repeat incidents. This in turn has to be balanced with civil rights. Is it reasonable to force through so much change for one spectator/follower spitting ? With the caveat of not knowing every detail about the episode, I'd say, probably no and that it follows a predictable pattern of a certain degree of abuse of power by politicians, together with one-sided pressure groups. As I mentioned previously, the best way to play it has already been put forward by a O.O. statement,..it was a suggestion, an offer to come together and stand against bigotry whilst on the march. It was an olive branch of sorts that didn't seem to be talked about or considered. IMO. this line should have been persevered with. A genuine attempt to go further towards a lasting solution that would make anyone refusing it look unreasonable. Whoever had that idea should be listened to more because I think a more confrontational approach will end up having a negative outcome for the O.O. -

Sorry ! It's ok where I am so I imagine it's something to do with copyright and won't be available until a certain time. -
Shoe-in prediction for coverage of our game Michael Stewart will say we weren't that good or that it was difficult to gauge level given how bad Hearts were and will proceed to spend his time laying into Craig Levein, saying he needs to go unless they win the Cup. #Bitter

Ryan Jack is a very studious and careful goalscorer. He is almost always very deliberate in selecting what part of the goal to aim at and tends to go for precision rather than power. He should definitely spend more time around the penalty box than he once did and should be going for double figures next season. -

I watched about half an hour of their first half against Kilmarnock yesterday, football wise, it was grim. I'd have been disappointed if a Junior match served up so little in the way of football. I hope and think their luck will run out next week. -

In the wake of 'spitgate', some of the statements to come from the O.O. were actually very good, politically enlightened even (IMO). One specific being, IIRC was a suggestion, an offer to come together and stand against bigotry whilst on the march. It was an olive branch of sorts that didn't seem to be talked about or considered. I thought it the exact line they should be taking and that they should have pushed it further, forcing a conversation on it. -
Kilmarnock confirm Rangers' ticket allocation will be slashed to one stand
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
If you feel strongly about something then it is your decision whether to purchase a ticket or not and given what you say then surely it doesn't matter to you whether the allocation be 4K or 8K. -

Barca IMO the point you are making about the comparison is a bit of a force-fit that doesn't really hold much water when held up to any objective scrutiny. I could say potatoes and oranges, but maybe it would be considered as a bad joke. What is your definition of a "follower" on these marches ? -
If Cardiff take anything from their game against Liverpool today then you may as well give City the title. Wacky Fiver on Cardiff and Hibs @ 152/1

Two managers at Rugby Park yesterday (Kilmarnock v Aberdeen). Both have recently publicly commented on sectarian chants aimed in their personal direction If you measured BBC Scotland column inches, broadcast minutes or even descriptive language used by media/pundits..... Would it be editorially fair ?

Kilmarnock confirm Rangers' ticket allocation will be slashed to one stand
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
It will always come down to the decisions of fans whether to buy the tickets or not. It's their cash, they make their choices and they should be respected. In this case, I simply don't think "hate" has anything to do with the proposal/decision taken by Bowie/KFC board. At the same level but I think with (mostly) different individuals, KFC were the only club not to vote us out of the top tier back in the day. It's their prerogative, there is no reason why they should bow down to us or Celtic,...but it obviously comes with a financial risk. It would be good for the Scottish game if more people can be attracted to games accross the board. Now whilst that is probably akin to swimming against the tide or putting a 4 team accumulator on at 32Red, it's their decison/risk to take and yours, to buy Killie away tickets in the future,or not. I reckon it may work for them in the short-term but give it 12/18 months, it'll start to go the other way and eventually we'll revert back to 8K allocations. By the time it were to happen, if we were doing well, we'd forget the rhetoric of today and fill it. -

Are the New IRA a proscribed terrorist group ? If so, how come they are marching in the street ? When it comes to public order and policing, I'd say that you can't really compare Glasgow and Dublin as the former is very divided/potentially volatile on relevant subject whereas Dublin is mostly of one side. As for the guy who asks the question. Given the circumstances and who was involved, it's hardly surprising he got a reaction. I'm not saying they shouldn't be asked the question but there is a time and a place.... if you genuinely don't want confrontation. More generally speaking, the various parades and marching on both sides of this particular divide can be looked at in different ways... Freedom to express a culture and an identity...or ...the best way to start a rammy They are probably both. Out of interest, have the authorities in N.I. ever put forward the idea of banning them or at least changing it from marching through streets to a public meeting in one designated area, such as a large park ? -

As it stands, unless there are injuries or a particular tactical switch, the team should stay the same. The last three victories have come against teams that didn't completely park the bus. The chances are Aberdeen will next week and it'll be interesting to see if the management team alter the set-up. Flanagan and Katic should keep their places, no matter the tactics. Katic needs the 4 remaining games to show the manager what he can do. Defoe or Morelos is now more a question of what way you want to set-up. -

I feel for you ! Thought we played very well and looked like a confident team. That's a prile of 3's that includes 2 difficult away venues, Motherwell & Hearts. What we now have to do is get the results against the teams we've had difficulty putting away. Do that and it'll be a tangible positive to take forward. ps. Morelos starts on the bench for me. ps2. Morelos is still suspended next week so hang fire. -

Flanagan deserves to keep his place IMO and I'd play Katic again. We've a poor record against Top 6 sides except Hearts, who so far this season have been our bitches Even Goldson is a prolific goalscorer against them. Looking forward to the game -

From what I can see, your initial claim is wrong. Yes, our return has increased their average but home crowds have increased accross the board, including against provincial clubs, eg. look at their home crowds for those games in 2019 and then look at them for tha same months in 2017 (pre-Clarke). You are right in saying that stats can and are usually used selectively. What I'd point to with the link you provide is the minimum attendance (which obviously isn't anything to do with our visits to Rugby Park). There you can see a relatively big difference (% of attendance) and if you look at the time periods I refer to above, you'll see that the difference generally applies to most of the games against provincial teams. Your comparison dates back to 2010/11. When Bowie took over and brought Clarke to Kilmarnock, he faced a very different reality to that. We discuss Bowie and the financial risks he is proposing against a difficult reality but seem to forget to actively consider our own situation when it comes to our relative financial reality/risk taking, within the current state of play. -
Went through my head but on balance I thought it was more MRI scans that was our frustrating thing.
