  1. Some would say that it's silly that European competitions include teams from outwith Europe. That wouldn't include the money men from UEFA. Sport and real competition are way down the list of priorities and that is behind why decisions that are being made threaten to cut off the potential for us (Rangers) to make decent European revenue that would allow us to remain competitive at a reasonable level.
  2. The bet stays live !!
  3. A wee add-on to the above post that didn't occur to me the other day. It didn't occur because of the lack of coverage or in other words, the 'ignore tactic' tends to work. It was the media reaction to what Derek McInnes said about sectarian chanting aimed towards him from the Celtic support. Reaction may not be a good choice of word, granted. Mr.BioMechanic has been big on Strict Liability on certain occasions Sportsound made it their main mission after what Steve Clarke said but as 26th pointed out very recently, they aren't so keen to cover it now. But thinking of PQ (specifically Sportsound Monday programme) and Editorial Consistency, the almost blanket coverage to ZILCH, takes some front !
  4. Compo, what was the bet ?
  5. It's good because I think he'll be badly missed by Aberdeen. There was a case for him but on reflection, I'd prefer we go with what we already have, Greg Docherty.
  6. 5.40am UK and nearly 10 million views of that utube highlights video yells a story. Well done to Klopp and his players. Perhaps the night when English club football took over from what has been a club scene dominated by Spanish clubs.
  7. This weekend requires players who are committed to the cause.
  8. I think we can take it as a given that Barasic has got the ok from SG&Co for next season. Being on the bench and this article are both aimed to say exactly that. We really need to get ability that is already within the squad and being paid for out there on the pitch maximising performance levels. A fit and committed Barasic would offer a great deal and if Tav was to leave, the Croat has the tools to make up some of the lost creativity from the flanks.
  9. No idea about Mexer, the player but I hope we are going on more than his recent performance against PSG and the fact he is on a Bosman. If deal happens, a posiitive would be the timely nature of business in preperation for next season.
  10. It was a bad error but we had most of the game to repair the damage. The real error that evening IMO was from the manager, his choice of the starting XI and lack of timely substitute #Davis
  11. Yes and that is what is immediately in front of us but the real focus for the management team/recruitment is getting the squad sorted for next season as early as possible. The first OF of next season will be HUGE but then I guess you could say that every time 3 points are on offer, it'll be huge. I reckon in points totals, that both OF teams will get further away from the provincial clubs and it'll become more like the beginning of the century.
  12. Now there is value for you. Worth a score I'd say ! Had it been the Spurs of a month or so ago,... a 3 figure sum would be merited.
  13. It's important but not huge IMO. Huge will be the first of next season and that'll be at Ibrox. Looking forward A plus point is that we know what we are doing or have to do whilst overby, there may be more of a transition. I reckon that they'll throw more money at it than accustomed but that doesn't always provide guarantees, especially in the short-term. Anyway, it'll mean a summer full of transfer rumours (some sexy) and then the realism of the squad list at the end of August. Should be fun.........
  14. Can't argue with much you post there. Wrt to challenging for the title next season. We can only directly influence what we do, budgets, getting value for money, our own tactics etc., but a lot will end up depending on what happens on the other side of the City. We are approaching a big year or two, with a lot at stake. Whilst, I'm sure we will do as much as we can to get the title back. I also reckon that they'll be pulling out the stops to continue the way they have been going and unfortunately, the biscuit tin is full. I'd be expecting some relatively big names to be coming to both sides of Glasgow to play football during this time.
  15. Yes, I since heard it was an illness, although tbh he didn't do much in the match against Aberdeen either. Hopefully he's fit and up for the next match.
  16. Rangers v Celtic Referee: Kevin Clancy AR1 Graeme Stewart AR2 Douglas Ross Fourth Official Craig Thomson Got it wrong. They've went against their normal order and decided to promote Kevin Clancy, probably down to the league already being decided. IMO, amongst some poor referees, Clancy is close to being the worst and I don't think he's up to the task.
  17. As it stands, SG can't really dangle anything that is conditional on him getting the main gig at Liverpool and if Milner fancies management, it's probably as a manager, rather than an inexperienced number 2 to a relatively inexperienced number 1 at what is once again, a pot 1 CL club. If our strategy to stop 10IAR was to be 'several older experienced hands that had real quality' alongside what we have and know is coming.....how would it be considered ? I'm not a fan of too many veterans but I wouldn't have a problem with Milner, given the level he is currently at. The financial side would be important with any such deal but difficult to gauge unless some facts emerged. I think this centres on how the club views the importance of winning at least one of the next two League titles on offer and what they'll do to try and achieve it. I think you have to centre any short-term strategy on winning the 19/20 title because if we don't and the fans/club were to lose trust in SG&Co, then it might be too much expensive change going into what would be a potential 10IAR season. Celtic are going through some changes at the moment, so now is the time to play the joker, whatever that they be. At the sametime, we don't have a blank chequebook, so it's a challenging task and will depend a lot on Gerrad, the manager.......if successful, then he could start to dangle that carrot you mentioned, Scott.
  18. Those who caution against bringing in too many veterans for obvious reasons will be looking at this shaking their head Pure speculation,....but it would be very short-term thinking but it'd be linked to a short term objective.
  19. Podcast from Monday night continued the relatively new 'Ignore' tactic regards Rangers winning games and now being a strong second place (14 points ahead of 3rd). They did give serious time to talking about McGregor's red card and slipped in the name of Morelos in relation to bad discipline. Fair enough, to feature the McGregor red, but not to completely ignore that we've achieved to put so much distance between us and 3rd place. Last week it was focus on the two penalty decisions and not mention the performance/increasing gap. Two weeks ago it was just completely ignore our result and performance. #Pattern You contrast that with the coverage of 'the race for second place' when Aberdeen and Kilmarnock were in touch and the delight they took in inferring that Aberdeen's four 2nd places was a new natural order of sorts. It's as if they've pulled the last episode of a mini-series and just forgot about it. But they did find time to pose the tabloid question of whether we give Celtic a guard of honour. #EditoriallyTakingthePish They also featured Steve Clarke and his MOTY award, fair enough. When mentioning his lack of Cup success, they said that Celtic had won the two trophies and didn't mention Alfredo Morelos with two hat-tricks* and that Rangers had put them out of both competitions. Strange, given how keen they are to bring up the fact that Aberdeen put us out of the Cup competitions #EditoriallyInconsistent To be editorially fair myself, I have to say the programme gave a surprisingly short feature on Celtic. * it was actually two x 4 goal haules, with the first having a wrongly disallowed goal (No prizes for guessing what PQ said or didn't say about it back in the day). For PQ, it's not Alfredos goal stats they are interested in.
