The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

I'd buy it only if Martin Bain has joined them. If we were to get a bid of 15M, we'd take it right away IMO. -

No-one is going to start bidding at nearly 20M. -

Surely it's the one area where most of the players can and will think for themselves, or at least within their own prejudices.

I'd prefer to take that challenge head on and look to set-up the final day for what could be termed the truly wonderful unthinkable. -
PRESS CONFERENCE | Steven Gerrard & Scott Arfield 03 May 2019

Second time I've recently heard SG essentially challenging the board to come up with adequate financial support for the remit. -
Thank's for that ! I've not been able to see it where I am. I can't see Cosgrove and Cowan leaving the building anytime soon. Even when Cos heads to the grave, I'd wager he'll have previously found a technology to have his own prior recordings used when trigger words come up on the show. I thought it was getting tired and repetitive a while back but instead of changing presenters or format, PQ added an extra post-match programme for the pair, increasing their Saturday airtime to 3 and half hours, 300 minutes. That's comparable to an Opeus Dei tool for self-punishment #cilice

Strange Stat In the 7 games against Hibs in the top flight since both were promoted from the Championship, there has never been a home win. Time for that to change ! -
I thought he was fairly straight in that respect but for me the premise I'm pointing towards is that a young journalist making their way in the modern world will tend to take the path of least resistance when it comes to their output (Newspapers used to be mainly about news and there was an opinion column for opinion. Now, too many outlets are all about opinion/slant and broadcast/print very little objective news). In today's Scotland, that means Rangers are an easy target and at PQ, it means if you want to get on, then, they are the target. I thought Ewan Cameron's observation about Tom English and some of the subsequent twitter conversation to be interesting and worth considering. That PQ tend to very often cover football with a political campaign like angle when others look to cover mainly the sport.
-
I read on one of 26th's posts that Craig Fowler now does some work for PQ. The angle his most recent article at the Scotsman takes would tend to suggest he needs some brownie points with the PQ heid yins after no Celtic players were up for the YPOTY award. It's titled... How Motherwell and future Rangers winger Jake Hastie grabbed a YPOTY nomination and it goes on to question why Hastie was nominated. It questions the voting process, how seriously players take it when carrying out their research before voting and states foreign players get a raw deal because they aren't considered young (inference is think Ajer) !!!....I kid you not Full article @ https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/how-motherwell-and-future-rangers-winger-jake-hastie-grabbed-a-ypoty-nomination-1-4919749

I think that might be telling this weekend. I'll almost be surprised if Liverpool get the three points... Newcastle were 8/1 for the win and have already shortened slightly.

Back in January, the 6 month loan was ideal. It didn't really work out but there didn't seem to be any obligations beyond that. Once the season was essentially over, he started to perform to a better level coinciding with a change in shape that seems to suit the team as a whole. Is that worth a contract ? ... for me, won't know until after the Celtic game. Good business for the club for it to be only a 1 year deal opposed to 2, IMO.

Worth clicking on the long conversation that follows this tweet.

Goalkeepers losing it in finals or star strikers hitting the post when easier to score, there is something predictable about Liverpool stalling at this time of year. Messi eventually took the tie away from Liverpool but the Scousers have themselves to blame for not having one or two away goals. The history of Barcelona in the early 20th century will have two very different chapters, the Glory Years of Messi and the Relative Famine Post Messi. All that said, it would be good to see Liverpool get an early goal and some momentum in the second leg and breath some life into the tie.

Thought it was very Barrie McKay semi-final goal, only better.

Excellent post Gaffer ! All it needs beyond this particular disagreement, is a little bit of respect instead of ..'you are either with us or against us' ..style rhetoric Our propensity to confront, including within our own ranks has been shown to be very damaging. One angle of damage that is seldom mentioned is that it will put off a lot of our fans from putting their head above the parapet regards active participation. For this reason I think a lot of talented and savvy individuals don't want to know when it comes to representing the club/fans groups, etc. in football politics. This contrasts to the other side of the city where a deeprooted rebellious culture means that all levels tend to put themselves forward for the fight. The result is that they are better at it than us and we are always playing catch-up. My hope was/is that Club1872 could grow into something that would eventually see us bridge this particular divide, we'll see.... -
That strike was truly outstanding. Whether it be with us or on loan, he has to get first team football next season.
-
He must be the one who's next up to be sold to England.

Delboy should have a red face coing out with cr@p like that -
Good point re.Tav. Subjective opinion but I reckon he has a better case than Kent to be up for the main award. Most underrated player in Scotland IMO.
-
Good to have a couple up for the main award. Just another staging post on the way, even if fairly insignificant. Best chance Alfredo has got is a fairly even split vote between Forrest and McGregor.

If you declare that only those who think in a certain political way can be considered as Real Rangers supporters, guess what happens... -

I think it fair to say that the current level of general hatred towards Rangers has never been greater (at least in my memory). It's a spiders web that IMO has never been wider,... some are obvious, even traditional, others are relatively new in their level of bitterness, etc. You have to ask why and it's not one specific answer. It's a complex answer where our own actions or lack of them play a part. Confrontation is a part of life but the cliches, boxing clever and picking your battles come to mind. I've stated on several occasions that generally, we don't do politics very well and we have tended to go where the opposition have either guided us towards or have been comfortable with. -

The confrontational approach on so many different levels won't have a happy ending. --------------------------------------------------- That has very much included the significant and damaging confrontation points within our support over the past decade and more.
