  1. Enjoyed the podcast,..thank's to all who played a part in it, especially Colin. Thought it good to have a semi-independent voice involved, it lends more credibility to that type of conversation IMO. The Maurice Johnston signing passed me by as I was in the Australian Outback at the time and there was no internet cafe's to catch up on things when reaching Darwin
  2. In the short-term, I'd say not necessarily but if rumours about this deal are accurate then we'll almost certainly need significant incoming transfer cash to be able to spend on a quality centre forward. The logical and simple asumption would then be... Morelos OUT for significant money, new forward IN for significant money....and probably another forward IN but for a much smaller fee, perhaps a loan. Medium-term we'd need to be cutting cloth to pay for what would be more front loading unless we were to make real money in Europe for both of the next two seasons.
  3. Rumours starting to circulate that it's this lad........ https://uk.soccerway.com/players/filip-helander/204947/
  4. Might end up being one of the most important bits of business we do this window
  5. Managing to keep it so quiet makes me think it'll be a player from outwith the UK
  6. From Stevie G to Stevie C.........we've got it covered
  7. We have a decent squad but for a title challenge IMO we are still short of two quality players, a central defender and a centre forward. It's a lot to do with mentality and not allowing silly points to go astray. The game at Kilmarnock will give us a better idea of where we are.
  8. Who is this defender who is 'close' ?
  9. Tav and Ojo Barasic and Jones Title of 2020 book (or 2020 vision) ...............'Winging it to 55'
  10. Given circumstances, I could partly understand the short-term nature of it, if Kent was much better than any other option,... but I really think Jones is ready to make the slot his and defensively, if you set-up with Kamara, Jack and Davis it would help balance any defensive deficit on the part of Jones compared to Kent. IMO Jones is the type of player (as is Ojo) who could really come on a bundle this year.
  11. Jones looked the part as well....and with the other options we have, I don't think we need Kent. Importantly, Jones looked very comfortable with a Rangers shirt on his back and was very direct. I think he'll do very well with us and again, importantly he is our player. Develop one of our players rather than two of Liverpool's.
  12. As a full back partnership, Tav and Barasic have the potential to be as important a creative hub as there will be in the League this year. We already know what Tav does and we really need Barasic to kick-on from last night and produce consistently.
  13. First games back saw PQ spring back into action covering Euro qualifiers. I didn't listen to the live coverage but just to note that their podcast dedicated approximately 3+ minutes to the Celtic game for every minute on the Rangers match. The interview with the Celtic manager can account for approx. one of those minutes which would leave Celtic getting a tadge more than double the podcast coverage we did. For the record........the other thing the PQ podcast provided was a jingle prepared for 'Celtic in the CL', with nothing for us. Podcast pundits: Houston and Bonnar
  14. I'm usually fairly cautious but even I reckon you can shorten the thread title again, deleting St.Josephs.
  15. Very good second half and a result that makes the second leg into whatever SG wants it to be. Good to see Barasic make a couple of telling interventions that showed the quality we all know he has in his locker. Ojo and Jones were excellent.....(no need for Kent/spend the cash elsewhere) Aribo looks an excellent option for helping to break teams down. Good to see the centre backs hungry for goals. Morelos came on and showed the right attitude which is important. Negative was picking up two yellow cards. With quota of HomeGrown players limiting our European squad size and the inevitable injury or two to come we can do without any suspensions for the more difficult rounds
  16. As a tie, this is as straightforward as it gets. As a game, it'd be encouraging if we could have the tie won before next week's second leg. Wrt the Home Grown rule re. UEFA squads, we can only name a 22 man squad (25 available if HG quota is met) We could very much do without any injuries.
  17. I always go with League minutes only as it tends to be where priorities ly. I don't know anything about the player and was just asking the question, rather than casting any judgement.
  18. Last couple of seasons has seen him play a total of 2422 minutes of League football (or approx. an average of 13 league matches a campaign). In the two years prior to that, he played over 2000 league minutes each season. Question being......why the significant reduction ?
  19. History tells us that this type of signing always brings with it a relatively high chance of serious injury. My point being you shouldn't go for too many similar of profile. Even the younger player brought in (Rossitor) could have been put into the high risk category as it was well known he had suffered a lot of injury problems. What will happen if you do this is the situation we've refused to learn from for many years #PayOffCentral It would seem as if the football operation is trying to change things at last but the need to stop 10IAR may end up delaying the implementation of change.
  20. We need to keep a hold of our better youth prospects, improve them quickly and as they get older, provide the proverbial pathway. At the same time, we need to stop signing so many players like Murphy or Dorrans.
  21. We'll be preparing for the potential of Morelos leaving....but whether a club come in and make an acceptable bid for Alfredo, we'll have to wait and see. I reckon bids will come in but they will be substantially lower than our valuation. In that eventuality, we'd have to see how Morelos reacts...as he and his agent might well look to push the deal through. I'd doubt we'd spend on a replacement until AM was to be sold.
  22. Almost reminds me of the tactics I played to in Primary School where my shots and passes sometimes ended up on the roof. Can't see us paying out such a big fee for a third striker. If Morelos leaves he frees up a potential starting berth and brings in funds with which could be used in such a deal.
  23. Maybe it's more about finding a buyer for Alfredo.
  24. I'm hearing that VAR had the temerity to send Jesus packing yesterday. Perhaps time to ask his real Dad, if he knows what we should do about VAR.
