The Rangers Winter 2025 Transfer Rumours and Deals - Thread
buster. replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Alex MacDonald scored goals, including a lot of important ones. Barron doesn't. Hardly ever has. The general reaction to Barron is representative of how some in our support tend to view things. From "brilliant" .... to.... "Shite" inside a month -

You haven't mentioned the need to spend money, I never said you did. You stated the opposite. That we could improve in the short term by changing coach, without having to spend money. Given that changing coaches isn't a freebie, I just presumed that you had an alternative currency and suggested Monopoly Money. Obviously you can't tell the difference between real money and monopoly money. It happens. -

You said the following and I quote...... "We don't need to spend money for short-term improvements, we just need a coach who can coach the players in a system that will consistently win games and improve their fitness....." I take it that monopoly money is accepted currency in your imaginary, simplistic footballing world or perhaps, magic beans. -
Timewise, that was the opportunity to build a sustainable base. However, the reality was that our club was being drained from the inside by those who couldn't give a dam beyond what they could stick in their pockets.

Cammy has a big wad of monopoly money, if that helps. -

Maybe, but he has quite a bit of first team experience as a centre half. Surely he is an option if we are pushed. No idea how the young central defender from AC Milan is doing but he'll be 21 next month. -

You obviously believe that monopoly money can sort all our problems. Have to laugh at the "maybe there is a release clause...." If you'd learnt from 2012, you'd be following the John Bennett austerity drive. We tried the speculate to accumulate. Or rather structured losses post 2015. There was a logic to it and the losses were financed internally. However, 9 years on, it has to stop. New financial rules and "investor fatigue" brought John Bennett to tell the fans, enough. We have to consolidate financially or risk the club again. John Bennett was at the sharp end. You are a message board poster who doesn't seem to want finance involved in the conversation. -

Is it Fairyland or Monopoly Money World where we can change the coach without it costing anything? As for me being delusional. I don't believe the current incumbents are going to make us a force again. It is going to take a lot longer than what we'd all like it to be. If we start the impatient 'throw money we haven't got at it' approach again and keep going deeper into the shite, then the threat becomes existential. Did you learn nothing in 2012? -

I thought we'd end up coming through yesterday, I was wrong over the 90 minutes. It happens! Fairyland is the place you occupy. A place where you ignore what has been going on for years and expect significant positive change. The club needs to lay foundations off the park, if it pretends to have any consistent success on it. We can spend money we don't have looking for short term improvements but the chances of making it to medium term would be slim because of the financials. You can expect what you want. Bit like a young kid going into a toy shop with 50p to spend. -
Watched Sportscene and they didn't show any angles that suggested it was a penalty.

We keep mixing and matching but given the lack of depth and Balogun not being able to play repeatedly, not much choice. -
Doesn't seem to be anything in it but you'd need to see the other angles before adjudication

Often a battle, but of late, St.Mirren rarely beat Rangers. Three times in the last 51 encounters. Without looking it up. Can anyone tell us in what years were the last two of those defeats? Clue: defenders put Rangers ahead with early goals in both games. I fancy a 0-2 win this evening -

From extreme pessimism....... (Not that long ago you were moaning about not being competitive against Aberdeen. I told you to be patient and that we will finish in front of them. ) .....to extreme optimism 😂 (We are finishing 2nd, it has been thus since before August). Better to be in an optimistic frame of mind given that you'll see why Clement should get more time 🫣 -
[Official] Rangers announce appointment of Patrick Stewart as CEO
buster. replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Of course, he will already have had a "warts-and-all" view of the club and I agree he has to further evaluate the mechanics of what happens within. What I was getting at was communicating with the fanbase and managing expectations. It is an area that I have talked about for years. For a CEO to be successful at Rangers, he needs to forget platitudes and employ realism. For me, it is imperative so as we allow 'foundations' to be built, instead of being in perpetual flux and providing a second decade of the banter years. My comments were a first impression. Time will tell how things shape up. -

I have frequently been told that I was moaning too much over the past few years. Most of which has been proven to be justified. -

I think it is you that is OTT with your FFS 😂. I made it clear that it was a first impression and was subject to change depending on actions. IMO we need a hard nosed CEO who isn't scared to tell the support the truth about what will be a challenging remit in amongst hard financial realities. No better time to begin in that way than the beginning. He has had more than enough time (prior to his appointment) to become fully aware of the details. The support don't need the CEO to be going through the standard list of platitudes, they get that from players.
