  1. We certainly know Compo's surname. Granpaw Barron
  2. Some of those "shite people" kept the lights on and tried to finance fan expectation. Given the present circumstances, unrealistic expectations (timescales) have driven a lot of bad decision making. That said, it is still bad decision making. You seem to expect lots of money being thrown at the club and just want to forget the accounts.
  3. We've tried the "balance" approach. We've tried the rehauling of the football department thinking in academy. We've tried the 'constructive losses' under Dave 'house of cards' King. Bottom line, we need to stop losing around 10M a year. IMO we probably need to take more pain so as to give us a chance of building up a club that will eventually enjoy sustainable success.
  4. What would you call owners who instead of splashing the cash, insisted on relative austerity whilst asking for patience?
  5. Should be fined. Obviously took the players minds off the domestic business in front of them and got them thinking of European glory 😂
  6. Generally speaking, the club has been mismanaged for decades whilst our main rivals are the polar opposite. Those are the main reasons why things are, how they are. We always look for the quick fix when what we need is to start from scratch. Or in other words, become sustainable as a business.
  7. It was you who took that very specific and simple rule change and introduced the following...... "...Secondly smaller clubs have an interest in hindering bigger clubs getting into the group stages to reduce the size of the gap in revenue. The revenue gap is the main reason that we never see a non old firm team challenging for the league... ..There is an argument that this will benefit Rangers but it is short sighted. The immediate benefit would be qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League more often. That means more money which everyone thinks is great. The anti-competitive effects of the rule change mentioned above would make the domestic fixtures even less competitive. That is to say even more boring than at present. When the smaller clubs have less chance of beating the big clubs then you are more likely to see a team play defensively and waste time from the fifth minute. It's awful to watch...."
  8. A standard answer.......... And where is the money coming from? We've been front loading warchests for about 3 decades.
  9. "....mismanaged for years..." How many years does Chris Graham refer to ?
  10. You could argue that it was broadly the same with the previous squad and the one before that. If people think that all will suddenly be wonderful post takeover then they are of a very optimistic nature.
  11. Neoliberal (extreme capitalism) refers to an increased proportion of wealth (and political power) going to the few at the top of the tree. We have clearly seen this happen over the past several decades in European football. You are obviously right in saying TV money has a lot to do with it. It is a mechanism to channel wealth.
  12. No, it doesn't. Not even a little bit.
  13. Just as well we took the financial hit and got rid of Clement when we did opposed to the end of the season @CammyF Ferguson&Co have brought a 'managerial bouncy' to the party, opposed to the more customary bounce. Up and down, up and down. ------------ That is 10 consecutive games we've played in, that the away team have won. We are the bookies best mate. I'd venture that is another first.
  14. Tha Big Manchester clubs have 4 European Cups between them. However, Villa (1) and Forest (2) have a combined three European Cup wins. That was when they had some Scottish players in the team. In the final, Villa had 4 Scots on the field at full time and in their second triumph, Forest had 5. .... In the year in between, Liverpool won it with 3 Scots. Now it is only John McGinn at Villa. Not one at Forest.
  15. I get your point regards watching competitive football between the big two and the rest. However, you don't say why you think it would increase the chances that Rangers would always finish 2nd, behind Celtic. Since the mid to late 80's, the direction of travel for competitive football in Scottish football has been affected by general economic trends. Neoliberal (extreme capitalism) has seen wealth distribution skewed ever more towards the top. It has been the same in professional football. The ship has sailed for provincial clubs in Scotland. At least until the big clubs get involved in European football reconstruction. Which I think is inevitable because of financial greed and the lack of competitive football in their respective backyards. Unless European reconstruction means a postwar building program for idiots who went to war.
