  1. And our club's not a cash-point, fatty.
  2. If it is, it's because we've been knocked back by several others first. Would put him in a very difficult position and would also be something of an eye-opener in terms of our perceived status in the football world.
  3. Gonnae make it a bit more obvious?
  4. I'm surprised he can even go that fast in a car, tbh.
  5. You're getting a bit desperate. I think we can all accept that we need to have a much better scouting and recruitment strategy with out resorting to this.
  6. Undoubtedly so. But everyone's impatient and it was becoming apparent that keeping schtum until the new manager's signed on the dotted line wasn't sufficient. Of course, now we've found out there's nothing to report, everyone's response has been 'what's the point of that?' I'm as guilty: I want a manager in place yesterday and seven quality signings this morning.
  7. Everyone was getting antsy about not hearing from him so he's clearly damned either way.
  8. Quite. Mainly seemed to reiterate a lot of what was said after he came in. Lot of big picture-stuff but light on details, figures involved, etc. Is it just me or did he seem almost contemptuous of the press' questions?
  9. RM in Glasgow? What could possibly go wrong? Anyway, linked with a move to Lazio so operating at a different level from our current one. Wouldn't have thought JC would have trouble getting an EPL/Championship side.
  10. They've reportedly spoken to Cathro too. What we don't know is who's are genuinely interested.
  11. Managerial appointment not going to be announced but it's clearly going to come up, in questions if not in DK's initial statement.
  12. Suggestion is that Olympiakos want rid which might make VP reconsider
  13. He exceeded expectations at Motherwell but there's only so long you can sell your best players and replacing them with inferior ones. Bradford were also a basket place and he effectively had a to build a new team every summer there. That said, he's clearly not an appointment that's going to get bums on seats or mark a radical new approach.
  14. I feel a bit sorry for him. Taking on that shower of imposters was a terrible hospital pass. The squad was shit, lacking in pace, confidence and desire. He got a modest improvement but, ultimately, you can only polish a turd so far. Had he come in when Ally went then who knows? But he didn't. But I think a pretty radical shift in strategy is required and break with the past at the club and I don't think McCall represents that. He would be seen as the 'safe', 'business as usual' appointment. That's only partly his fault but them's the breaks. The club and squad have been left in a horrendous mess and I think a new broom is needed.
  15. Warburton will be falling over decent offers. If he's taking our approach seriously it would suggest that King has been able to convince him that there's a coherent, long-term strategy for the club in place. I'm still a bit sceptical that Warburton/Weir will actually come but I'd be pretty happy if they do.
  16. I would be absolutely staggered, and very happy, if Warburton's our next manager. He won't have been short of attractive job offers. I suppose the level of expectation and media coverage will be something he's not had to deal with but, in football terms, his reputation is pretty impeccable and, with his focus on player development, he fits the bill pretty perfectly. Still not convinced he'll come: more money and an easier life in the English championship.
  17. We were going to be rebuilding anyway but no promotion makes recruitment a much harder task. It's going to need King to make a clear plan for the next five years and a manager who can convince players that they can be in at the start of something great. Tough sell.
  18. I'd happily see him studying in his time off training rather than the stuff our home grown yoofs get up to (and indeed, see him playing football in his time away from studying rather than the stuff our home grown students get up to).
  19. A lot of store is being set by the potential cleansing effect of sponsors--Visa have said today that they may withdraw, for example. But I wonder how many of them have been guilty of paying bungs themselves. I seem to remember Nike being 'associated with' (rather than 'up to their oxters in') some of the controversy relating to the Brazilian FA, for example. I doubt they'll all be neutral about where competitions will be held. Surely they'll have strong preferences for particular bids rather than others?
  20. In bed in Canberra. I used to stay up and stream the match commentary but couldn't see the Manks slipping up so just put myself to be and pretended it wasn't happening. Then the texts starting arriving...
  21. I'd be surprised if they even had to vote on it, tbh. Good on him but shame on the others for making him the only possible choice
  22. Allowing for a bit of poetic licence on my part, I honestly can't see what your point is: 'there was a really stringent and thorough test but it just wasn't really stringent and thorough enough'. The SFA plainly stated they had 'limited' investigatory powers and therefore were heavily reliant on self-disclosure. I apologise if I'm misunderstaning you but you appear to be suggesting that everything was fine which, if so and given subsequent events, is one of the daftest things you've ever posted on here. And that, with due respect, is saying something.
  23. There was a FAP test but it was a lot weaker. It basically said 'Are you fit and proper?' and Whyte ticked the box that said 'Aye. Pyoor fut n'proaper' and the SFA thought that'd do them.
  24. The fact that there was a question around King's FAP status but none around Whyte or Green or Ashley highlights the complete absurdity of the rules as they currently stand. But it wouldn't be the SFA if they didn't turn a laudable concern for their members' continued well-being into a total cake and arse party. The FAP test is designed to protect individual clubs and not as some sort of moral crusade. I would hope that nobody would give unquestioned support to any regime at Rangers. But the idea that, in terms of the best interests of Rangers, as an SFA member, King is somehow worse than the previous incumbents is, frankly, fucking ludicrous.
