  1. To be fair to GS, you were backing Llambias and co up to and beyond DK showing up. Under those circumstances, and in the absence of a total and unconditional acknowledgement that they were robbing bastards whose presence was nothing short of a catastrophe for the club with no positives at all, sniping at King does look like hubris. I may have missed your mea culpa, of course.
  2. He was very good at Brighton and tipped for great things. No idea how he is after a nasty leg break ended his season though.
  3. If the argument you're making is that we need more long balls but better ones, you could equally apply that to the short passing. The problem was that the short passing was utterly crap not that it was short.
  4. He did. They were almost all awful.
  5. Last season's team could've probably finished fourth. We seem to be going backwards
  6. Stupid thing was Tavernier had already shown he'd got the measure of their left-sided players. He'd disposed both almost contemptuously. But, as he did for the first against Aberdeen, he went to sleep.
  7. For the first half hour, I thought we'd be ok. Weren't creating much but looked comfortable. But after that it was absolutely atrocious. Easy possession gifted away, tackles missed, second to every lose ball. Awful. I sort of agree it's not the manager's fault insofar as he can't personally cover for Tav when he loses his man or play a simple pass to a team mate rather than gifting it to. Hearts player. But they look lost and as if they're not playing for him.
  8. Barton was poor and Garner hasn't exactly hit the ground running. But other than that, I'm not sure you can judge them failures. Even Senderos was a last minute freebie to provide a bit of cover so hardly constitutes a significant failure. Garner's the one that bothers me, I must say. We've been playing relatively poorly but, even so, a half decent striker would have seen us much closer to the tims and much clearer of the chasing pack. But with the money we've had to spend, we had to get a bit lucky. Thus far, we haven't.
  9. Even being this shyte, to only emerge from this with a draw is terrible really. Something even vaguely resembling a proper striker would have put us out of sight, even though we've been pish
  10. I'm interested in the idea that we've somehow had poor value for money from the English leagues. We've spent absolutely fuck all in the grand scheme of things and our shortcomings in the transfer market largely stem from that. If we try to spend fuck all somewhere else, we'll still have the same issues. I'm all for looking far and wide as possible when recruiting players. But there's many giving the impression that there's a magical land somewhere, undiscovered by every single club in the world that has more money than us, where Warburton could pluck footballing geniuses from the trees for free if he only bothered to look. The problem is we have fuck all to spend and will continue to do so for a while. Recruiting from the Serbian second tier or Burkina Faso u18s league is, at best, going to have exactly the same risks and probably more so. None of that's meant as an argument for limiting our search for players but just for a bit of realism.
  11. Indeed. Stability and incremental progress is about as good as it's going to get until the behind-the-scenes stuff with Jabba the arsehole is resolved.
  12. They haven't: Bristol City want Waghorn. Matty Taylor is a Bristol Rovers player.
  13. I've always suspected as much too. But we don't know it.
  14. It's only the latest demonstration that the previous regime was primarily intent on handing the club to Ashley in tranches for loose change. The only question is why and if we had anything resembling a genuine press, they'd be crawling all over it.
  15. Waghorn's certainly not been setting the heather ablaze of late but he's been out a good while ad is taking a while to find his touch and confidence. But if he shows the form he did for much of last season (thought he ran himself into the ground eventually) then he's an asset. He looks fucking massive at the moment though: do wonder if he's been overdoing the gym during his layoff. Looking increasingly like a rugby player than a footballer.
  16. His ghost writer is an embittered, hate-filled wank.
  17. And an absolute mugging it was too.
  18. Do you think there's a ceremonial tie cutting when Rangers sack you?
  19. Surely if he was going to be welcomed back, he wouldn't have been suspended for this long?
  20. Think he saw the ball late: defender seemed to obscure his view of it. Though the best chance was when Wallace neither shot nor squared the ball when in plenty of space and with a man over. Seems to sum us up at the moment.
  21. Enough good positions and chances to win comfortably but still not taking them.
  22. Thought we might appoint Jock Wallace with a medium as assistant manager to replace MW
  23. He's interviewed in the Grauniad today. It appears to be about homphobia though, rather than us although, in addition to being too busy to listen, I must confess that I can really be arsed. https://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2016/oct/19/joey-barton-tells-owen-jones-homophobia-not-just-problem-in-football-video
  24. That's the least of our problems right now. I'd happily see them run out in the yellow and pink number from a couple of years ago for every game forever more if we actually looked like a team in it.
