  1. I am shocked that, after reading some of the posts on that blog, to find out they're written by a Rangers fan.
  2. I agree. Apart from Brown, who should be nowhere near the side, none of the picks are surprising. I'd hope McKay has his eyes on Forrest's place but he'll have to add consistency to his obvious talent. But other than that, who else would we seriously have from Rangers instead of Tierney and Armstrong, who were both very good, or even Thumbheid? I'd hope any centre back playing in the world would be scouring their family tree for a relative from Scotland at the moment
  3. Maybe we can get him back when they let him go at 21, after two years on loan at Scunthorpe.
  4. The OF aren't going to England anytime soon so we have to start from where we are. The concern is that most our national team are not even playing in the English top flight. Money is key. Fewer professional clubs with the ones there are with a heavy emphasis on youth development. Could sort out the ridiculous league arrangements then and teams playing each other twice would make it less of a procession for us and them too. The English league will take the best so we need to get smarter about contracts to make sure at least some money flows north (and have the money to ensure Scots clubs sell when they're ready and for a reasonable price). If we're outside the EU, might be able to bring back a local content requirement. Might see some partnerships, informal or formal, develop with English clubs (or others for that matter but England most likely for obvious reasons) where they get first dibs on emerging talent in return for long term loans, etc.
  5. We've been quite good, tbh. But couldn't score in a brothel. Just waiting on the sucker punch after dominating all game
  6. Are you complaining we're unlikely to spend millions we don't have to close the gap a bit? After what we've been through?
  7. The entire coaching staff could be seen as placemen for the board's interests. We're looking for a coach with local knowledged, not a Non-Executive Director
  8. My recollection was he was encouraged to go because we wanted the cash.
  9. Realistically, every player we have has a price and probably not a very high one, to be honest. Since MW's gone, he's looked rejuvenated though so I hope he stays.
  10. Although he's not the only guilty party, had Garner shown any hint of a speck of the ability to hit a coo's erse with a canoe paddle, we would not be in our current position, IMHO.
  11. Can't see it, unfortunately. Would be ideal for us in many respects but he's still an important player for West Brom--he's the captain, isn't he?--and I'd expect them to extend his contract. Been a great signing for them: my boss is a Baggies fan and absolutely loves him. He started life as Celtic fan but he chucked them to play for us so evidently not that much of one.
  12. A consistent goal scorer and a bit of presence in central midfield would have us looking a very different prospect. Centre back might nice too. Might not be enough to beat them to the league but would be enough to beat everyone else and run them a bit closer.
  13. You'd think Hill had attacked him with a machete, judged by the way going on about it.
  14. Ewan Murray's write-up in the Grauniad predicted that the penalty claim would be used to deflect from a poor Celtic performance but that, in spite of their claims "The reality is this was not nearly as obvious a penalty as Celtic’s contingent would have onlookers believe". About the size of it in a game that didn't really have much serious controversy: I'd probably have been claiming for it if it had been us but the idea that it was some stonewaller is utter bollocks. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/12/celtic-rangers-scottish-premiership-match-report
  15. And that's why we are where we are. Score, for fuck's sake
  16. We're making them work for everything. My main concerns are tiring and keeping 11 men on the pitch
  17. I thought I'd give him the weekend before writing him off as a dud. Might even give him the chance to take training once before ripping into him.
  18. Give me fucking strength....
  19. He was also required to recruit a lot in a hurry. Unsurprisingly, some of those turned out crap (better than we have now, of course, but it's relative).
  20. I'd also add that the headline quotes about director of football we're misleading. He wasn't dismissing it as a bad idea, merely that it won't sort out all our problems. Which is true.
  21. Certainly an orange card. Not worth appealing but I guess they thought it was worth a punt ahead of the OF.
  22. Perhaps a result of the decontextualised quotes? Less of a story otherwise. And he's right: last summer's transfer window was dreadful.
  23. On the contrary, i think he's been offered it but Southampton have counter-offered so he's staying put. Hopefully, Mitchell still fancies it or we're going to look bloody silly. New species have evolved in the time it's taken us to get this far. To emerge from such a drawn out process without an appointment would just add to the increasing air of haplessness that seems to have surrounded the club for the last six months.
