Not trusting an organisation hints more at issues of integrity than performance. Could the RST have performed better in recent years? Of course it could. Could the Rangers support have performed better? Absolutely. I am happy to speak as I find, and in my view the Rangers support has been completely inadequate in addressing the many problems that have overtaken us. As a support, we have been outed as being borderline hopeless. I look around at the various groups and see a support that has ceased to be a functioning support, but when I make the case publicly, I see accusations of negativity from the same person who happily dismisses the RST as being an organisation that he doesn't trust. Let him make his own case - is his lack of trust in the RST about performance - or integrity?

You said that you don't trust the RST. Do you trust Rangers?

If the RST can be dismissed in such easy fashion - what on earth would we say about Rangers itself? If a few mistakes, whatever they were, mean that the RST can't be trusted, it seems logical then that Rangers can't be trusted for the errors of its board, and if that is the case, we shouldn't be handing over our money to it. And if trust is such an issue, can we support a splinter group from the RST - Rangers First? If someone on here states that they don't trust the RST, who is it they don't trust and why is it they don't trust them? If an organisation can be dismissed as easily as this for past errors or misjudgements, I would imagine that the same standard will be applied to Rangers itself. If there is an allegation to make about the current RST board, let it be made.

Fan board elections now closed as of Saturday 20 September
Hildy replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Already, this sham membership scheme is causing arguments, friction and adding to the disunity that continues to grow within our ranks. From the club's point of view so far then, it has been an outstanding and unqualified success. -
Your negativity towards the Rangers Supporters Trust, which, incidentally, is made up of Rangers supporters, is an attack on Rangers supporters. You seem to despise negativity towards Rangers fans, except, it would appear, when it is you attacking your fellow fans. It is you who is being negative. It is you who is denigrating fellow fans. It is you who does not trust an organisation which wants to empower each and every one of us - including you.

It looks as though I don't have a monopoly where negativity towards the Rangers support is concerned.

We even have two singing sections. They tried to be together but it didn't work out. What we are seeing within the support is growing factionalism. We look at the board and criticise it, but the Rangers support must look at itself too. The crisis of the last few years has shown us to be a completely dysfunctional club, but maybe we have the club we deserve. When we look at ourselves, we have hardly covered ourselves in glory.

This subject has come up before and I wondered if there was a similarity between the Hibs situation and ours. If you are satisfied that there isn't one, that's fair enough. We can put it to bed now.

The feeling to go to the bottom was crazy, and I suspect that it was based on the premise that Scottish football needed us and would suffer without us. It barely took the time to contemplate the kind of damage that would be done to Rangers, as if we would just shrug it off. Just as there was hate against us - and remember there were those who were happy to see their own teams fail just as long as Rangers were sent packing - it was hatred on our side that was a motivating factor in the utter madness of wanting to drop to the fourth division. Celtic fans would have fought tooth and nail to get the best deal possible. Under no circumstances would they have settled for a fourth tier berth. We, on the other hand, practically demanded it. Scottish football has suffered without us - of that there is no doubt - but Rangers has suffered most of all.

I think it was you, Zappa, who hinted recently on here that the fans who wanted Rangers to go to the 4th division were misguided. For what it's worth, if it was you, I agree with you. We have done some pretty dumb things over the years, but this mood where we basically said to the football authorities - do your worst - we can take it - just about takes the biscuit. No account was taken of the damage that this would do. If the SFA had wanted to dump us in the Orkney and Shetland Boy Scout set-up, we'd have accepted the decision without protest. If Celtic had endured what we went through, they would never have ended up in the bottom tier - not in a million years - and yet here we were saying - bring it on. I suspect that we thought that it would harm Scottish football more than ourselves, and that was its appeal(utter madness), but while the national sport is in a bad place, Rangers has been living a nightmare. Journey? If it ever happens again, many won't bother buying a ticket.

Fan board elections now closed as of Saturday 20 September

This latest scheme adds to the dysfunctionality of the Rangers family. At a time of crisis we have a myriad of groups and schemes that pull apart more than they ever pull together. Fans are always going to have disagreements on a range of issues, but for those who would like to see a democratic structure that is meaningful - and democratic - this latest sham is as welcome as another pensioner in the team. -
We all know that the ground needs a makeover, but it may need a little bit more than that. Time will tell but the place is getting on a bit and it has been neglected for a while. It will be no surprise if a large bill is lying in wait.
-
No-one wants to lose either. If it happened it would be a sad day, but when we have people trying to justify the excessive outlay for our management team, who have no problem with us signing players in their thirties, who ignore the large salaries and bonus culture that exists amongst top earners - and that's before we look at what the kitman and his assistant earn - we may have to lose something we really don't want to lose.
-
I've heard rumours that Ibrox has a 'maintenance' problem that could cost millions to put right. We don't have the millions and if we don't get a safety certificate at some point, we will either have to find the money somehow, or play elsewhere, possibly Hampden. Owning Ibrox and Milngavie may well be too much for Rangers now. We don't want to lose either but paying for both and trying to fund a top-class team may require more money than we've got - even with good guys in charge.
-
I really don't know. If Rangers didn't play there, it would become redundant as a football venue although it's possible someone may be able to make money out of it. I can't think who, but you never know.
-
I don't know the exact figures but Murray Park is where Rangers lives. I remember talk of paying someone off at Ibrox, possibly a receptionist, because the place was so under-used although I'm not sure what the outcome was. Ibrox, unless something has changed recently, is basically our matchday venue, base for ticket portacabin and not much else. Milngavie is effectively Rangers' home. Having both is becoming a luxury.
-
I have doubts that the club can afford both Ibrox and Auchenhowie within the context of a likely CL-free Scottish football - even if we were reasonably well-run. Retaining Milngavie and selling the expensive to maintain Ibrox would probably make sense if the emotion was taken out of it, but as that won't happen, Auchenhowie really might have to go.
-
I'm the guy suggesting a better way forward. The negative people are those who offer nothing. We are where we are because people had an unrealistic expectation that the good times would go on indefinitely. The so-called 'negative' types knew that they wouldn't. Those who had an almost religious belief in this club sailing forward in untroubled fashion are the problem - not those who warned that stormy waters were ahead.
