Newcastle are a joy to watch, really showing how football should be played. I guess it's showing how lucky we were that Howe said no to Celtic.

Thankfully, we'll not face this type of quality until the later stages of Europe and / or CL group stages.

Sima looks the parts, Soutar our best defender, Cantwell trying a little to much.

Later stages of Europe I admire your optimism

The current football elite is reaching their limits of growth and is unsustainable without massive injections of new money. For that reason and no other, the current product/market interface will have to change dramatically. When it does they would be as well calling it a different sport, for all the connection it will have with the game played at Ibrox.

Will be interesting state of affairs when the next television rights come on the market might there be some new players on the scene

Guys, just came across this website, you can view full matches from way back and up to date. You have to sign up for it, free, takes seconds to do so. I have watched a couple of matches now, currently watching Rangers 1972 Cup Winners Cup final win.

Excellent I watched most of the league cup final last night when big Jock was in charge and we won three/two

Continuing the thrust of Scott7's comparison; if the Royal Artillery are nine mile snipers, then Nicolas Fairbairn was a chutney sniper.

My father was Royal artillery for many years before the war and after.

The colourful Mr Fairbairn did a lot of criminal defence, got himself elected to Parliament and was appointed Solicitor-General for Scotland. I don’t know if he did any actual prosecuting himself. Not really in his nature.

Oh yes he did prosecution work I seen him in Glasgow high court it was a joy to watch he was like an accomplished Shakespearian actor work was put on hold I attended for the full trial .

Criminal defence lawyer changed sides and assists in the Lord Advocate’s Department. I might be hopelessly wrong - it’s happened before - but that profile is getting out of the heavy artillery battle into a job in stores.

Did Nicholas Fairbairn not do a similar move .
