If you continue to play out of form players, what does that do for the morale of others who can't get a game and on whom we may have to depend in the event of injury or suspension. It's a hard balance to strike.

That's why I am glad I am not a manager but a good manager will find the balance .

What does the manager do about players like Tav, Arfield and Kamara, all of whom are struggling to find any kind of consistent form this season? Does he "rest" them and risk demotivation or does he persevere in the hope they gain form and we don't drop points in the meantime? It's hard to see the point of a large squad if we can't replace players who are performing so far below par.

He sticks by them in the hope they play into the form that we know they are capable off , anyway I only seen the first half and thought we played very well .

  3. I've had the wireless on since six this morning and it amazes me the number of presenters gloating because Manchester city got beaten then again this is Britain we dont seem to like winners or success,  the league isn't six games old and some are telling  us city will struggle I think they have got it wrong and come next May city will I think win it again.

This morning at university I had to listen to some awful guff about the Net Zero carbon emissions initiative. Now enshrined in law, it calls on the UK to achieve net zero emissions over the next 31 years - note, not zero emissions, net zero emissions. It was the usual one-dimensional stuff about the need to drastically reduce carbon emmissions, while still acknowledging oil and gas will continue to play a major role in our energy needs for a very long time to come. What emerged was that if every petrol and diesel vehicle in the UK was scrapped tomorrow the effect on overall emissions would be minuscule. Also that aviation is nowhere near as important as the saintly Greta would have you believe. What was entirely missing from the debate was any mention of the two principal drivers of emmissions - population growth and the progressive development of the third world. In the end I concluded that any advances in technology and energy efficiency are likely to be completely undone by increasing demand by parts of the world that don't give a fig for the First World obsession with self-righteousness. We're going down and the water level is rising.

The climate change lot will be having their conference in Glasgow next year you might get to meat Greta but if the environment is so bad why not hold a video conference.

I would expect the new DoF to be roughly in line with the philosophy of Allen -- I actually expect Allen to have an input on his successor -- so they should fit in with little trouble.

SG has experience of working with a DoF at both Rangers and Liverpool.

All this noise about friction between DoF and manager is nonsense to me.

    Let's hope

I expect another DoF to be appointed.

Allen was appointed to implement the structure, and was never a true DoF. It was what we needed at the time.

We now need a 'proper' DoF; one that has experience of doing the job.

Do you think the manager will have an input into whoever the board appoints .

Ordinarily I would agree, but I think the extension to kids who have spent 5 years at school here and are in effect, naturalised Scots, I'm okay with that if they are willing to commit to playing for us.

Many other nations have much less stringent rules and give out passports to suit their needs.  I have more issue with those

I am nearly 80 years here and still count myself as English because I was born in Aldershot .
