I can’t remember Dazzler. One of the Germans? Or Dalziel?

Centre half is Johnnie Valentine. Actually, I’m beginning to feel sorry for him. I’ve been excoriating him for more than sixty years. To him and his family I apologise. Still pick him for the worst XI, though.

It shows the benefit of age when you see the likes of Craig Moore, Ian Ferguson, Barry Ferguson, Craig Moore, Mark Hately, Michael Mols, Arthur Numan, etc occupying places in the All Time Rangers Team. All good players certainly, all made big contributions in successful sides but mostly not up to the calibre of some of their predecessors.

Players I'd like to have picked but ran out of places for include

Tommy McLean, the best crosser of a ball I ever saw.

Derek Johnstone, a magnificent header of the ball

Alex McDonald, classic box to box midfield dynamo

Dave Smith, perhaps the most cultured left foot of his generation

Willie Johnston, direct and committed winger

Davie Cooper, it's all been said before

    Jorg Albertz, Mr Freekicks

The teams should be picked by the decade it's so unfair to leave some players out

Our dad was home on leave took me and my brother to the old firm game September my birthday was in a few days it was a draw dont remember who scored our goal Johnny Hubbard was also playing as well as a young future captain Eric Caldow not a bad recall for an 80 year old I was going to post my birth certificate as well but there is to much info on that ?

  4. BBC Scotland's showing some Scottish cup finals from yesteryear last night it was Hearts v Hibs a feast of mediocrity and bad goalkeeping followed by a documentary on the Lisbon lions I wonder if we will feature in any programme .

You don't seem to see the headers nowadays either. I remember Alan Gilzean who never powered a header, just glanced them in. Astle was one of the best as were Ron and Wyn Davies. There was one match in which Scotland beat Wales 5-3 and I think 6 of the goals came from text book headers.

I remember Dundee and Gilzean destroyed us one day at Ibrox five one the beat us

  6. 1964 Rangers v the hooped horrors quarter final at Ibrox Jim Forrest gave us the lead then wee Wullie Henderson got the ball started his run cut inside and let fly right into the goal the place erupted,  every time the wee man talks about that goal the distance gets further and further out ?

  7. I will go with sentiment its 25 years since coop passed away his free kick against Aberdeen was one to behold later on international duty Jim Leighton told him he nearly got his hand to it ,coop replied with a wee smirk on his face , aye on the way back out of the net .
