  1. One always thinks we can do it this season but not this season I dont see much in the way of improvement if any our centre forward has his head turned by transfer thoughts we wobble like a jelly in the middle and if the defenders perform the way they did after the winter break then it's going to be that drawn out battle for second place .

Mind you if this second wave of the virus kicks in the horrors could have their ten in a row wrapped up before Christmas that will give them time for their video promotion and any world tours :rfc:

But one lives in hope .

    That ended well, didn't it?

And that is, at least partly, the point.

The rules, such as they were, were different then, of course.

It does seem that Abu Dhabi has pumped money into its franchises hand over fist through inflated or non existent sponsorship deals. (I guess the same criticism could be levelled at "Paris" SG.)

I am sceptical of coincidences, and so raise an eyebrow -OK, two- when I read that the deals in question are from Arab countries, from enterprises which are affiliated with the Club's/Clubs' owners,  who are themselves, sovereign wealth funds or similar government backed/owned outfits.

There is a difference between monies earned commercially through merchandising, and sponsorship, and non commercially derived income, ie subsidy, disguised as one or other.

As I have said before, allowing unbridled hosing down with unearned income distorts competition, on and off the field, creating transfer and wage inflation, too.

FFP for all its faults -policing of it being perhaps the most obvious- is an attempt to "draw the line".

Of course, it does favour those Clubs with the biggest commercial incomes, and militates against an other buying a side and speculating to accumulate, as they say. Until, however, UEFA takes a leaf out of the NFL playbook, or some voluntary compact is instituted, that may continue.

So that's Rangers knackered then if I were to win the euro millions I was going to give it to Rangers now the cat and dog home will get the lot

  3. That's it all over the scousers finally won the title the two Manchester teams and Chelsea join them in the champions league next season along with spurs Leicester and Wolves in the Thursday night cup Sheffield had a decent season Villa managed to survive but I think the best was from Southampton to get thrashed nine nil at home stand by their coach and finish in a respectable eleventh position was a good comeback. Roll on September the twelfth and with some luck maybe some fans in attendance.

After our three (televised) pre-season matches, I'm looking forward to this one on Saturday.

Will we see a similar starting line-up, resembling our first XI?  Will Morelos get off the mark?  Will Kent, Barisic and Hagi continue their good form?  I hope so (to all three).

When I think of Coventry City, the first thing that always springs to mind is the 1987 FA Cup Final and in particular, Cyrille Regis.  More recently they've had plenty of problems, including having no ground and Steven Pressley.  Their 2 Tone tribute strip a year or so ago was rather fetching.

No injuries, another clean sheet and a few goals would be good.

The main thing is to come through with a fully fit squad

It's been apparent for months that Morelos needs to go. He's been great but if we're honest he's never been able to sustain it, whether because of suspensions or simple loss of form. In that respect he's no different from most of the team but the difference is his leaving can generate the funds we need to improve the squad, others can't. He simply must be sold and sold well, while the gloss is still on his Europa League stats.

After watching the last three games I would say he would rather be somewhere else playing his football I might be wrong but I think he's lost his mojo

The fact that IMO a screen was TURNED OFF in Piccadilly Square prior to the  Eufa cup final, which had been working perfectly for the days before and up to the time of the game I think this because it was amazing how quickly riot police, hiding up side streets were on scene as they had to be used to off-set their cost.

Luckily I was in the other area with the big screen and not caught up in the mayhem.

I have nothing against the residents of Manchester but do not wish their football teams success that's
