The rules state that only 'outdoor non-contact sports' would be allowed, with no details of any 'exemption for professional sport' as is specified in tier 3 of her regulations.

While the matter still has to go through consultation and parliament, SunSport understands that the SFA and SPFL are already working overtime to see precisely what this could mean for them.

It hardly needs said how challenging this could be for football, of course, with the likes of Rangers and Celtic signed up to compete in European competition.

While there is the prospect of some local authorities being at Tier 3 and others at Tier 4, Sun Sport understands that this year's fixtures will not be redrawn whatever the eventuality.

Instead, matches would simply have to be postponed then either settled or replayed at a later date.

The SPFL announced today that they were contacting all 42 clubs for guidance on how best the board could gain control should they have to curtail the season.

 

The full list of Tier 4 restrictions is as follows:

• No in-home socialising
• Outdoor groups capped at six people from two households
• All hospitality closed - except for hotels for work purposes
• No non-essential travel in or out of level four area, with limits on travel distance or requirement to stay at home if necessary
• No use of public transport except for essential purposes; avoid car sharing
• Non essential retail closed (click and collect permitted)
• Hairdresser, barbers and beauticians including mobile services closed
• Public buildings, events venues and sport stadia closed to spectators
• Worship open but restricted to 20 people
• Weddings allowed with max of five people (or six with interpreter)
• Funerals and wakes permitted with 20 person limit
• Formal childcare open subject to targeted intervention which may impact capacity
• Informal childcare for essential workers only
• Schools open with enhanced and targeted protective measures
• Colleges and Universities restricted blended learning
• Driving lessons not allowed
• Gyms closed, outdoor non-contact sports only
• Leisure, entertainment and visitor attractions closed
• Public services essential face-to-face only, and online where possible
• Essential office work only, with work from home if possible
• Outdoor workplaces, construction and manufacturing permitted

It's enough to bring tears to a glass eye I was out yesterday and and seen quite a few coffee shops filled with customers so there is no excuse to halt  a sport that is playing in empty stadiums.
