With a broad smile, Neil Lennon spat on a Rangers scarf (wrongly) thrown at him 20 yards from my seat in the Copland nearly 20 years ago so the pretense he's some sort of misunderstood angel will never, ever wash with me.

But, like it or not, many Celtic fans will see him as a legend.

That's fair enough, however, I always thought BBC journalists, and their chief sportswriters at that, were meant to be objective and tell all parts of a story.  It always amazes me how the bad: the spitting, the cheating, his own bigotry and the misogynistic, threatening behaviour off the park are always ignored to treat him as some sort of victim.

He's a nasty piece of work and I sincerely hope this is the last we see of him up here.

    I will second that

    Gunpowder proof?

I was told as a young Subaltern, never drink gunpowder proof Pussers with a Bootneck, apparently when you awake, you have a limp?

    Keep your Bruv' safe.

Season 76-77 is best forgotten, it was the season sandwiched between two Trebles.

However, something noteworthy occurred. A crisi in central defence saw Jock Wallace contact his old mate and manager of Southampton, Lawrie McMenemy. The Saints had just won the FA Cup and their Scots central defender and BIG Bluenose, Jim Steele was available for short term loan. Clutching his FA Cup winners medal, Jim pitched up at the Albion and kicked everybody. He played five straight games in six weeks, including ra Sellik. He was deservedly booked in all five games and tried extra hard against ra Yahoos to get another booking. He was staunch.

You can imagine the end of season discussions at all the RSCs? Jim won six RSC POTY awards, on the strength of those successive cautions.

In this vein, I am voting for Nathan Patterson because it will annoy the hell out of the usual suspects.

Jim Steele was my type of defender
