  1. Two founder Football League members will reconvene. Making the quarter-finals will recall an era where both regularly went deep in the competition. Each club’s home is a tribute to such a mid-20th century heyday. For the Sir Tom Finney Stand at Deepdale, read the Jimmy McIlroy Stand at Turf Moor. Preston, last in the top division in 1961, were FA Cup runners-up in 1954 and 1964, and quarter‑finalists twice more in that period, while Burnley, Football League champions in 1960, reached the semis in 1961 and lost the 1962 final. This was a last hurrah of the provincial town club – Preston became a city only in 2002 – as the lifting of footballers’ maximum wage in 1961 began a drift towards Lancashire’s metropolitan areas of Liverpool and Manchester from the mill towns. The postwar era furthered a trend of club chairmen being local businessmen made good, the town’s tycoon given further civic status. Burnley’s chairman from 1955 was Bob Lord, notorious as one of the first men from a football boardroom to become a headline-grabber. Today’s 3pm Saturday TV blackout is an enduring Lord legacy.
  2. I suppose it all depends on what team turns up the league team then it’s a struggle or the Thursday night team then we should sparkle .

  9. If the takeover is done I would bet there will be a complete overhaul of the retail side shirts etc one thing that the yanks do well is marketing something we’re hopelessly inept at I say this after reading the other mob are opening the empty Next shop in Glasgow’s Argyle street that the wife tells me is a very big shop and all we have in the city centre is the Castore dookit at Sauchiehall street

  11. I read a couple of days ago that Alan Pardew is interested in the manager’s job
  12. When you look at Celtic’s line up last night they had very good players in every position the way we are we just can’t match them the present board have done their best they might be successful business men in their own field but are clueless when it comes to running a football club the loans are much appreciated but they have run their course we need change and néed it now or as soon as possible .
  13. Don’t see a wedge for falling over the ball 😅
  14. If it's the Parks what exactly do they want more money a seat on a new board let's be honest they haven't exactly presided over a club that's been thriving they're tenure has been downright abysmal.
  15. It's 1/2 Rangers ......9/2 Killie ......11/4 draw The draw looks like the best bet .
  16. I’ll be watching tonight to see if Spurs can put one over on a city side that seems to be suffering some kind of shell shock.
  17. The main reason we need change and have to get this deal over the line because if we don’t then the gaps going to get wider.
  18. I just want to see this deal done and over the line
  19. Will be a good night for McInnes to stake a claim for the Ibrox job maybe it's about time we stopped kidding ourselves that some second rate foreigner is the answer and appoint a manager from closer to home
