Kenny Miller and Clint Hill to be offered new deals at Ibrox
Ser Barristan Selmy replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
We're 19 points behind Celtic and they have a game in hand and half the season still to play. We aren't going to bridge the gap with moves like this. -
The end of the beginning: Rangers v Celtic

Having loads of strikers doesn't count for much if none of them are good enough. We need much more than a right back and a midfielder. -

I don't get the logic behind 3 at the back. We're poor defensively with 4, yet now we try playing 3? Up against a front 3, the two wide players are always going to be ahead of the wing backs, leaving the centre halves man for man with the attackers and getting pulled all over the park. As we saw today. We aren't good enough to be messing about with formations. Just stick with a simple 4 at the back - we're bad enough with that. -

We're 19 points behind. It wouldn't take a huge amount of money to catch them next season, but the board are going to have to start spending proper money. Mind you, if the manager's going to make a repeat of the Garner signing, then God help us. -

I'm not really sure what we were expecting playing 3 at the back against their front 3. We're bad enough with 4 at the back. -
[FT] St Johnstone 1 - 1 Rangers (McKay 23)

The Garner signing never made any sense at all. Wouldn't be so bad if he was one of our freebies or 100-200k peanuts signings, but we've spent a fortune on him. A complete waste. -
Bob Bradley sacked after just two months. They've made the right decision; the only error they made was appointing him in the first place.

I don't really get the comparison with Bergkamp because they played quite different positions. I think debating over whether a player like Ozil is world class is a bit pointless really. Given his track record, who he's played for and what he's won, he's clearly up there. He wouldn't get into any best XI of the world, but he's a top player.

Rangers Winning on a Friday Evening

Second place is the very minimum we should be achieving. It really is no achievement. The idea of us not finishing second is just absurd. And as I said, 7 wins out of 15 was pathetic. The players we came up with are hardly journeymen by Scottish football standards. They're certainly not paid journeymen wages. Against Hamilton 9 of our starting XI played last year too. I don't get your point. We give managers far longer than they deserve. I don't include Warburton in that as I never wanted him sacked. -

I can only speak for myself and it has nothing to do with that. We have the most resources by some distance outwith Celtic and performances plus results were nowhere near good enough. Things seem to be improving now thankfully. -

Desperation creeping in? We are were doing terribly until three games ago and that's simply a fact. -
When him and Sutton commentate on our games Sutton is more pro-Rangers than Butcher. I'd say Butcher is the most anti-Rangers pundit/co-commentator. Andy Walker probably runs him close. If any debatable decision occurs, Butcher will side against us every single time. PS - taking issue with what Butcher said here though is ridiculous.

We're in a woeful league. Yes, what I said stands. 7 wins from 15 was nowhere near good enough. Whose core argument was that? -

We were doing woefully until three games ago. We've still dropped far too many points. -

Kenny Miller could finish career away from Rangers

With a grand total of 4. That really doesn't say anything. He's almost 37 and this season needs to be his last. -
Rangers 2 ( Kiernan, McKay) v Hearts 0 post-match discussion
Ser Barristan Selmy replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
We played well, barely giving Hearts a sniff and were in command throughout. We retained possession well, created some good openings and could easily have scored more. Back to back wins against Aberdeen and Hearts is vital and gives a bit of cause for optimism. Win 2 or 3 more matches and our season's form will start to look a lot better. Any transfer business we do in January will be key. Also, I usually sit in the Broomloan but was in the Club Deck and the view was superb. -
I don't think it would make much difference. 4-5-1/4-3-3 is the standard formation in European football.
-
The problem isn't the type of football we are trying to play - the idea is correct. The problem is we are failing to play it.
-
I think while we probably do have the second best squad in the league, the players just aren't good enough to be beating teams on a weekly basis. A club like ours needs to have players who are considerably better than the opposition, otherwise there's never going to be any consistency. So while yesterday was a decent result, I expect another bad one in a game or 2. Ultimately, the signing cheap players from the English lower leagues has failed. It is now time to broaden our horizons.

BH, it's not long ago you were voting to keep Llambias and Leach.
