That wouldn't surprise me. Even if he returns to full fitness this season he may not be able to hold down a place in the first team. It's not a matter of quality either. It's just that his injury record may well rule him out for any contract extension. In that case the manager wouldn't be blamed for prioritising players that will be there next season.

True but if the £40 million figure reported for Champions League qualification is accurate then I would still prioritise the Hearts match way ahead of Lyon.

Sounds like a problem from seasons gone by. We already have a solution to it anyway. When we want more in attack we swap a defensive midfielder for an attacking one. Consider Davis out for Arfield against Livingston.
