The manager has stated his preference for 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. The personnel are there to fit 4-3-3. Despite these facts the idea of three at the back is really compelling to some. Is this because it would solve some important problem that the team has just now? Or is it just that many fans don't realise that there are tactics beyond formation bingo?

I would still drop Morelos. He thinks he can silence his critics after scoring the first goal in the match last night. I hope he understands that he can only silence his critics with a league win.

Not sure if he said big changes. Given the circumstances It's more likely that he changes how we play rather than who plays. Also likely that things change gradually over time.

Did he say anything about Tavernier chesting the ball back to our goal for the first? Admittedly I don't know much about goalkeeping but I'm not sure what he was meant to do for the first one.

Although a couple of our players could play at that level I don't think either would help Villa much. Despite that I pray for Gerrard to stay up late one night getting drunk. So drunk that he sends a fax to Ross Wilson offering to buy Goldson, Tavernier and Morelos.

Yes, we can drop Tavernier. I'm confident that Patterson will do a better job defensively and will be good enough in attack. We will be stuck with Goldson for the rest of the season. The time to deal with him was in the summer. Goodness knows where he will end up now. Morelos did a few different things in the past. Many of them quite good. He does none of that now and lost his edge a long time ago. He looks lazy and disinterested now. Worst of all he is being paid a fortune and will plod through the remainder of his contract.

Quite an over reaction. Goldson should have been told to commit or move in the summer. Tavernier should now be the second choice right back. Davis is already the second choice number 6 and I assume he played to rest Lundstram for Thursday. The rest are underperforming but can turn it around.

Goldson, Tavernier and Morelos. All rubbish. Many other players were also rubbish but those three were particularly bad. Bring on the Patterson era.
