Two close run leagues and a failure to win cups? What about all of the other seasons? Again cups are not important.

When Van Bronckhorst arrived he said something similar. He indicated that players should be able to find their own motivation here. The problem is that it just isn't true and we know how it worked out for him. It's great if a player is self motivated but we won't always get such players. If you are able to get inside the heads of other players then you will get more out of them. Think about players like Morelos and Kent under Gerrard and then compare them since. I think that Gerrard was willing to find ways to 'inspire' players. I would like it to have continued. Could a captain help with that? Maybe but I think it is mostly a matter for the management team. Much easier competition for all of these fellows. Bringing them up as a comparison should probably trigger a ban.

Not for me. Rarely has an impact in big matches. I could understand if the club signed him for all the goals against jobbers though.

It wasn't blatantly obvious from my comment but I think that it is a silly idea. It is the same silly idea that emerges whenever we don't win.

Given that we have won nothing this year I'm sure many will say all of the youth team should be in the first team.

Better in all these areas yet relying on gifts from us to win.
