  1. Yes, and this is why I don't want it to happen. Improving youth development is a means to an end. I think that end is to improve Scottish football. There are lots of ways to improve youth development but this particular one will also damage Scottish football. It makes no sense to me. Youth development should be improved but not at any cost.
  2. Depends how you measure the success. Spanish football might be more competitive if the big teams didn't have this advantage.
  3. I watched this yesterday. Not a great game but an exciting finish. I don't think we are missing out on anything with Naismith.
  4. It gives young players one less reason to sign for smaller teams. It gives big clubs yet another advantage, over small clubs, when it comes to developing young players. It also makes a mockery of the competition. The each division should be fought out by teams that are fighting for promotion/relegation. I'm sure there are more reasons too. The worst of which will probably only be made apparent if this happens.
  5. I don't think it is fair for big teams to field youth teams in the lower leagues. The SPFL teams would be mugs to approve this.
  6. Pretty depressing to see another club trying to build a stadium in the middle of nowhere.
  7. I hope this seems to be so in the summer.
  8. I thought this would free up Alves to move on.
  9. I'm not a fan either for similar reasons. Although I am pretty sure I will forget all about it when he starts scoring for us.
  10. Great news. I like a lot of the things that I've heard Thomson say on the Heart and Hand podcast. I hope it works in practice.
  11. I think it is pointless. How does the SPFL measure the success of the winter break?
  12. What is the source for this? I keep seeing it mentioned but I don't know who is reporting it.
  13. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2041530/dean-shiels-fake-eyes-thrown-dunfermline-falkirk-fans/ Incredible stuff. I hope Shiels gets to have the last laugh.

  15. He did take us forward. It's hard not to be unkind though. He had a great chance to build on the cup success against Celtic and he blew it.
  16. No thank you. He has had his chance.
  17. Absolutely. A job for the compliant officer. The club should be all over this.
  18. Yes, in my opinion the director of football should be judged on the quality of signings that we make over a period of ~2 years. He will be a success if signings like Barton, Kranjčar, Peña and Herrera end. There are surely other factors too but I think this is the important one.
  19. I think he is slightly better than Wallace going forward and a great deal worse than Wallace when defending. I understand that he is young though and could well improve. He may well be free but I was thinking about his wage when I mentioned his price. I just don't want us to pay a high wage for a left back that has yet to demonstrate that he can defend. I can live with him being a squad player at the right price.
