Armed Forces Day At Ibrox this weekend (vs Livingston)
barca72 replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
With respect SteveC consider this. Sometimes when I'm watching the news, or even a show, on tv the station will give a warning such as - 'the following content may be disturbing to some people, please be advised.' Now, before you go to the game the content is fully advertised and if you wish to watch on tv the upcoming half-time content is advertised. Whether you watch or not is up to you. Just as in the previous seasons the dross that Ally put before us was your choice to watch or not. I have just watched another Mark Warburton presser and the man is right. I'm paraphrasing here but you're left in no doubt as to his meaning - 'With respect to the other team, we only care what is right for Rangers.' I think that same message must be conveyed when Rangers and its supporters celebrate Armed Forces Day. Unfortunately for you if you don't agree, find a distraction while the mutual love-in is taking place. -
Armed Forces Day At Ibrox this weekend (vs Livingston)

I'm sorry, JohnMc, but that just doesn't compute. If you think that a crowd of people who are gathered together to watch a game of football, and who vocally show their support for their armed forces in a relaxed manner, will have any impact on a politician contemplating sending these same armed forces personnel off to war then I would say you have my permission to organize an unarmed politican day at Ibrox and you can inform us of how many armed forces personnel who refuse to comply with any decision that said politicians make about sending these armed forces personnel off to war. I'm sure the football crowd would show their support for your political sensitivity in an appropriate manner. While you're at it you could differentiate between which group is a blight on the national psyche and which group is a comfort to the national psyche. I've seen you make a lot of good, well-reasoned arguments over the years - this has to be your weakest. -
I don't know enough about the 'labour laws' mentioned in the Dave king presser video thread clip , to know whether to agree with those sentiments or if McCoist was prevented in doing so for some reason.
-
Would anybody know if there is any truth to the reference to 'labour laws' when suspending a contract after a period of time has elapsed? King said that in their meeting in July, Ally had mentioned this. It's possible that McCoist could have agreed to this cancellation when first approached in July bar for these 'labour laws'. Toffs are careless with other people's money.
-
Well then, I guess the fans needn't have bothered doing anything since Charles had it all under control. We would have got to this point anyway without any problem, eh?
-
Do you honestly think that after the vicious treatment the club received from the SPL & SFA after admin1 and liquidation1 the member clubs of these organizations would have allowed us to continue, in any form, if we had immediately suffered another insolvency event? If I remember correctly, the possibility of being under their influences yet again was a real fear of the fans at that time, and long-term thinking beyond sheer survival was at a premium. Remember how tenuous was the hold on our SFA membership.

You're moving the argument from McCoist to Green- he'll get what's coming to him. As far as McCoist goes, whatever his motivation, I am maintaining that McCoist's endorsement was critical to the fans buying into the club under Green. The fans were not daft, they could sense that Green was another s*** in a suit. Regardless, they wanted to pitch in and support the club and McCoist was there with the encouragement they needed. You can spew forth your obvious dislike of Green and of McCoists motives, but it doesn't change the fact that McCoist tipped the scales for the fans in their support of Green. As far as you pitching in, that was an assumption on my part - you're still here.
-
At the time McCoist endorsed Green, who else was around to save the day? I'm not talking about McCoist's implied payoff here, but the fact he helped push the fans to save the club. Whether Green's offer was the highest or not, he did own the club. If you were so insightful at the time Green needed McCoist to endorse him, why did you pitch in? Like the rest of us, you were desperate for the club to survive - almost, no matter how. I'd bet you that there were great numbers of fans who had reservations about Green, but pitched in on McCoist's say so.
-
Who could you give the credit to, then? The fans did not know whether they could trust Green, but they knew the club needed their support. The whole re-birth could have withered on the vine if the 'man of the hour', or someone of equal status - maybe Walter, did not endorse Green. Would you have pitched in at that time without a trusted source, paid or not, giving the go-ahead?
-
That's as maybe, but the fans needed a signal and he gave it. After Whyte, the fans were indeed sceptical about backing Green. Ally signalled the all clear and the fans gave the club the financial backing that was crucial to keeping us alive. If he had not given the "green" light to back that board then the club could have died. I'm not an out and out Ally supporter, but that has to be recognized. Who knew what was to come, but staying alive was critical. When you look at the healthier and vibrant situation today - what price thirty pieces of silver, then?

Do you really think that it is worthwhile rooting for this team? If they managed to get a playoff game they would lose that as well. They went out today not to win but to NOT lose. From the kickoff they were in defensive mode. This was well put by Dave Provan commentating on SKY sports when he said that Fletcher was a good target man, in that he can collect the ball and lay it off to his wingers, the only problem was that our wingers, Forrest and Maloney, were playing as full backs because they were tracking the German full backs back in our defensive zone. Further the midfield is bereft of constructive playmaking. A captain should set the example for his team but we're stuck with this spent rhino in midfield who too often charges at people and is by-passed by passes at almost every opportunity. All this does is put the rest of his team under pressure and creativity being built from midfield is stiffled. We were lucky to get the goals that we did get in just about the only two attacking forays we had in the first half. The German goalie had a stinker of a game. The last two games in especial, Strachan's tactics absolutely were terrible as was his team selection and use of subs. I guess I would describe this Scottish team as dross. You, being a Rangers' supporter and having suffered through the last three years should know what that means. A new board, new management and a cull of the present players. Nothing less will be sufficient for any future success. How can that be done, you ask - ask Mark Warburton.

Start thr re-build from Regan on down.
-
You can't have belief in a joint venture if you don't trust your "partners". The board of the SFA & SPFL, and their appointees, have to go before Scottish football shall once again flourish. Those in position right now have run the game into the ground. Surely Monday night should be their death knell. Here's to Rangers once again having a prominent and equal part of the Scottish game going forward.
-
Wouldn't be surprised if they are preparing a bid to transmit our league games live from Ibrox when we go up to the premiership next season ( or some other such scheme ). They would have to be regarded as welcome visitors for the fans to accept them.

That team was great to watch today, but Oduwa had me out of my seat. Very exciting. We'll be lucky to keep hold of Tavernier next season. -
http://sport.stv.tv/football/international/1328107-gordon-strachan-scotland-didnt-do-much-wrong-despite-defeat-to-georgia/ Strachan conceded that the attacking performance was not sharp enough to win the match but felt that leaving Tbilisi without a point was hard on his team. "We didn't do enough to win the game,” he said. “We definitely didn't do that much wrong to lose the game." Does that sound to you like a guy who wants to let loose his charges? Here's how other people rated his players - http://sport.stv.tv/football/international/1328103-player-ratings-how-strachans-scotland-performed-against-georgia/ Now, maybe if he used new players who are more in-form : e.g. Wilson ( Russell Martin ), Wallace ( Mulgrew ), Halliday ( Brown ) and McKay (Forrest ) - he could really adopt a policy of letting loose his charges. Maybe he should ask Mark Warburton how that works. Of course, to actually pick new players he might need to have a less-constricted view of the player's abilities playing at the Scottish Championship level. As a guide here is his part of his present player selection, and how one team - the majority of whom have not done well in CL qualifying games level - have a greater degree of preponderance in the present Scotland squad; Marshall - Ex-Celtic player Robertson - ex-Celtic youth Mulgrew - Celtic Brown - Celtic Maloney - Ex-Celtic player Forrest - Celtic Griffiths - Celtic Strachan- Ex-Celtic manager McGhee - Ex- celtic player

Whatever gets them singing, atmosphere is king !! -
How many managers ago has it been since we have had a decent team? Who has hired most of them? Where, and with whom, do you figure we should look to for the reason for Scotland's glorious failures, assuming you figure we have decent player personnel?
-
Suit yourself.

Checking out the Real Estate in Abbottabad. I guess he figures the authorities won't hit that town twice !!
-
I that the SFA mob run by Regan you are talking about?
-
Aw, you left out the Papal Nuncio !!

Which organization would you direct your request to? Further, in whom would you have enough trust to sit on this tribunal and conduct such an investigation? Ergo, I would contend that there is no likely group which could be constructed from the body of Scottish football that would satisfy your needs. The only recourse for Rangers and their fans is through the courts. Better to wait until the courts have drawn the map of the web of deceipt, corruption and criminality of those presently charged. Who knows what leakers, squealers, fat paper-pushers and rhats will appear from those investigations.
