  1. To destroy a culture you first start by destroying its institutions. Rangers are a very large institution, especially for the PUL community. If a government does not succour a large institution when it is in trouble, a person could take the view that said government is actively seeking to harm said institution.
  2. I agree and it would gazump the SNP since they think they own the saltire.
  3. For a Celtic and Scotland captain to engage in this kind of offending action is just pathetic. Without respect no one can build bridges.
  4. It was Windass, picture 11/92. http://willievass.photoshelter.com/
  5. Since when is it legal to leave the field of play and wander back on without the referee's permission, especially as your next move is a dive - compliance officer?
  6. Today was a good day. We did not play a game today.
  7. I read your putative statement and immediately discarded it. It is terrible the level of scepticism I have that now greets all news on Rangers unless it is an official club statement. After the last two games I think I am completely scunnered.
  8. I fancy Neil McCann as coach with Kevin Thompson as assistant, but like you say he hasn't achieved anything yet.
  9. Not a bad record ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Potter Coaching career Östersunds FK[edit] In December 2010, Potter signed a three-year contract as coach of Östersunds FK, who were then playing in the fourth tier of Swedish football.[10] In 2013, after two successive promotions, he prolonged his contract with the club for another three years.[11] On 27 October 2015, Östersunds FK secured promotion to the Swedish top flight, Allsvenskan, for the first time in their history.[12] On 13 April 2017 he won his first title as a manager when Östersund won the Swedish Cup. This granted the team a place in the second qualifying round of the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League where they defeated Galatasaray 3–1 on aggregate.[13][14] In the third round they defeated Fola Esch 3–1 on aggregate and in the play-offs they knocked out PAOK (3–3 on aggregate with more away goals), thus securing a historic entry into the Europa League group stage.
  10. Interesting article by VB first .. Same City Council, Same Old Story Written by: General Schomberg Thursday, 9th January 2014 "Celtic, though, as a football institution, quite rightly remains a symbol of Catholicism. The Celtic strip, as famed and proudly known around the world as it is, still cannot be divorced from one of its cultural parents, which is the Catholic faith." - Graham Spiers http://www.vanguardbears.co.uk/same-city-council-same-old-story.html http://www.kgbanswers.co.uk/how-many-roman-catholic-lord-provosts-of-glasgow-have-there-been-since-a-protestant-held-the-post-and-in-what-year-was-that/3333772 After Sir Donald Liddell's term, there were 15 Lord Provosts who succeeded him, all members of the Scottish Labour Party (Catholics are among Labour's strongest supporters). Glasgow had its first Catholic Lord Provost in 1938 by the name of Sir Patrick Joseph Dollan. Since the 1940s, many of Glasgow's Lord Provosts have been Catholic Labour Party councillors. Between 1975 and 2003, 10 Lord and Lady Provosts were elected. All of them were Roman Catholics. Glasgow.gov.uk have listed the names of Provosts of Glasgow from the medieval time, to the appointment of Sir Patrick Joseph Dollan in 1938, and up to the latest election of Sadie Docherty in 2012. See the list here. https://glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=16556 1952-1955 Thomas A Kerr 1955-1958 Andrew Hood 1958-1960 Sir Myer Galpern 1960-1963 Dame Jean Roberts 1963-1965 Sir Peter Meldrum 1965-1969 John Johnston 1969-1972 Sir Donald R Liddle - Prot. 1972 (May/July) John Mains - RC 1972-1975 Sir William Gray - RC 1975-1977 Peter T McCann - RC 1977-1980 David Hodge - RC 1980-1984 Michael Kelly - RC 1984-1988 Robert Gray - RC 1988-1992 Susan Baird - RC 1992-1994 Robert Innes - RC 1994-1995 James Shields - RC 1995-1996 Tommy Dingwall (10.2.95 - 31.3.96) - RC 1996-1999 Pat Lally - RC 1999-2003 Alex Mosson - RC 2003-2007 Liz Cameron - A Jew who attended RC Notre Dame school. Safe bet. 2007 - 2012 Robert Winter - Supposedly a protestant but him and his four sons went to Seville to see the final with the team they loved. Safe bet. 2012 - 2017 Sadie Docherty - RC 2017 Eva Bolander
  11. What about in August of this year when we lost to Hibs. That game should have been in the bag, Beaton or no Beaton.
  12. Good to see Club1872 initiating some pushback against these people.
  13. I don't see where you get the six group stage European games. We haven't qualified for the group stages since 2010-2011.
  14. Definitive statement in this article ... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-slammed-not-wearing-poppies-11476854 Celtic slammed for not wearing poppies ... by one of their own fans – Hotline Brendan Rodgers and his players didn’t mark Remembrance Day with symbol and it made some punters angry – as Euan McLean found out. ... St Johnstone’s players wore poppies on their shirts but Celtic’s did not
  15. Billy Connolly got a knighthood making lines like that !!
  16. Since the first 5-1 defeat from the scum, Pedro was on a short leash and the board did f*ck all about it.
  17. Rangers are not so much concerned with the yahoo occupying the job, but are more concerned about the transparency of the machinations of the process. ..."We do not seek to personalise our criticism."... ..."We believe the current system for referring matters to disciplinary tribunals requires radical overhaul. It is too easy for those with agendas to pick over and highlight minor incidents in a game,"... Who? - The compliance officer and his staff? ..."We do not know and will not be told who referred this matter, nor what motivated them."... Who? Media, commentators, other clubs? ..."Incidents missed by a referee are judged to a far harsher standard than those observed by an official but called wrongly." Who? Again the CO and his staff? The whole process needs to be explained and become more transparent.
  18. Jings, it's pretty sad when our club has to rely on THEIR coach to air what is surely one of our biggest grievances from our cup game.
  19. I thought we might have seen a post from you congratulating those Motherwell chaps on their spiffing victory by now !!
  20. 'appointed by acclamation' An acclamation, in its most common sense, is a form of election that does not use a ballot. What does it mean to win an election by acclamation? The most frequent type of acclamation is a voice vote, in which the voting group is asked who favors and who opposes the proposed candidate. In the event of a lack of opposition, the candidate is considered elected.
  21. Yeah Bill, but they are not daft. This year they have increased the money, to £400k, to be shared by Scottish clubs because of Celtic's participation in last year's CL. If it came to a vote for change how many smaller clubs here, and in other countries, would vote against that kind of money?
